Award

Well, I may have lost a Follower, but I have been presented with two Awards in the past couple of days by two of the very nicest people in Blogland.

The first Award was given to me by Shady Del Knight http://shadydell.blogspot.com/ and it is the I Heart (Love) Your Blog Award.  Isn't it just the cutest little Award!  I don't know who designed this one but it is so simple that I just love it!  (Probably because I'm such a simple person myself. LOL!).  Thank you for this one Shady!

I've just looked at Shady's Blog again, just to make sure, but the wonderful thing about this Award is that it doesn't look as if I have to do anything, so I'm just going to sit here and quietly appreciate it.  I have told Shady this on many occasions, but he really is one of the wisest men, and comes up with such meaningful comments to blog posts.  You know when you meet a person, and they make you feel as if you are the only person in the room, well, that's Shady for you!

I would like to pass on this Award to vintch over at http://vintch.blogspot.com/  Her writing is absolutely beautiful and she writes about her life with her lovely husband Robert, and their cute little dog, Pablo.  She is certainly wise beyond her years.  Please do go over to her Blog and pay a visit.

I heard on the radio yesterday that this weekend is supposed to be the most depressing weekend of the year.  I suppose it is because Christmas and the New Year celebrations are over, and we have only (certainly here in England, if not where you are) the dark days of January to look forward to.

It's still getting dark at about 4.30 p.m. here, so the days are still very short.  But am I downhearted?  No, I am not.  I fill the house with scented candles (I particularly like Ylang Ylang, which is very earthy and sensuous) and curl up with a good book.  I even managed to buy some bunches of daffodils yesterday, so they have really brightened up the house.  It is very early for daffodils, and I presume they must have been grown in a hothouse, but they are a lovely sign that it won't be too long before Spring is with us once more.

I have my home, my health, my loving family, the gift of friendship, and now I have my blogging friends to keep me company  throughout this winter of 2011.  Blessings indeed!

I will tell you about my second Award in tomorrow's post.

What a lovely award! Congratulations. I love Ylang Ylang too, gorgeous fragrance and daffodils were my mums favourite flower. Bring on the spring :)

lyndylou - thanks. Roll on the spring indeed! Heavy frost again down here in Devon this morning. The forecast has been for snow again in Scotland, so hope it's not too bad where you are.

One of the things that I love about you, Thisisme, is that you are an optimist. You choose to view the glass as half full and the winter as half over even if it's barely begun. Instead of dwelling on the downside you focus on the upside. You say to yourself "this too shall pass and better times can't be far behind." That's an example of how our reframing skills can help us cope with any kind of adversity. You also acted in a resourceful manner. You took steps to make the most of the situation by hunkering down, lighting scented mood altering candles and getting cozy with a good book. That's the style! Enjoy your blog award, my special friend. It is richly deserved!

yes we have snow but it looks so pretty! Yesterday my friend and I were driving through the woods and we both commented on how much we love the snow and how bonnie it looks when it lands on the trees....not so much fun on the road but the way I look at it is, the more snow, the better I get a driving in it!

::waving at Amy:: This please, please, please go visit Amy's blog if you haven't already. She is such a great Mom, wife, friend and takes the most amazing pictures. :D

I love January but that might be because we have a gazillion birthdays to celebrate YAY! Still I honestly can't believe Christmas is over. Seems like last year just flew by.

I have my candle burning too - just because I want my house to smell like Christmas :D

Amy - thank you so much. Don't suppose you get too much time to relax like that with your two little redheads!

SkippyMom - Yay, I already follow Amy and agree that she takes the most amazing photos, and I've told her so! Always good to have something to celebrate in January.
Please don't feel left out in my Award nominations. I went to put your name on the list, but someone had already done it. Boo :) You know that i'm a big fan of yours.
