Sunday Snap!

Yes, it's that time again, when I have to look through my photos, to try and find something interesting to show you on a Sunday.

This time, I was struggling a bit, because all of my older photos aren't on the computer, so it would mean scanning them and then posting them.  I don't find that they come out quite so well that way, but I will have to try it another time.

No pesty grandchildren this week, but I thought I would let you see a photo of Maison-Lafitte, where my family live just outside Paris.  I think you will see that it is a very pretty place, and in the summertime they have baskets of flowers hanging everywhere.  On all the buildings and all the bridges as you drive across the rivers.

As you enter the little town (with gorgeous patisseries, boulangeries etc. etc. Mmmm, my mouth is watering, just thinking about their wonderful pastries, which are little works of art in themselves!  Next time I am over there, I will take some photos), you drive across the River Seine, and this magnificent Chateau greets you.  I am thankful that I shall be going over there again in August.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

The flower baskets are incredible. What a lovely thing to see everyday.

And oh - pastries. Don't get me started.

We took a day trip today and stopped at a place called the "Apple House" - a little country place that is famous for their apple doughnuts. Not a pastry, more a cake like concoction, but oh my goodness....I can't wait to travel by the place again on our way to see Squirrel [the college one] because I am buying a dozen. For ME. No one better touch 'em.

I am still trying to figure out how to hide the few we have left. heehee - so yes, I understand. :)

That is a beautiful place This. The flowers are just the right touch. So Gawgus and you both said we wouldn't open a bakery because you'd both eat everything. I was going to ask Skippy to join but after reading about these Apple doughnuts and her hoarding them, that's out too! I gave up the idea!. hehe.

SkippyMom - those flower basket's really are amazing, or should I say AWESOME!! Oh my, those apple doughnuts sound wonderful. Couldn't you save one just for me please?! Hee Hee! Reminds me of when the children were growing up, when I used to hide goodies in different places in the cupboards, because if they found them, they would be gone in five minutes!! Us mums have got to be crafty, don't you know!!

Bouncin'Barb - Crumbs, what's up with you and Skippy this morning. Can't you sleep?! Just imagine the four of us in that bakery, you, Gawgus, Skippy and me. We'd have nothing left to sell. Hee hee!

Bethe77 - I'm glad you liked the photos and, yes, it really is a very pretty little town. I would love to show you around! Sorry that your poor friend was sick though and hope she will be better soon. Glad you at least had a lovely evening last night.

Whaaaaaaaa! I want to go with you!
I love France and I used to live in Paris. I worked in the Bois de Boulogne...please don't snicker all you people who happen to know that that is the red light district. I LOVE Paris.
I could be your professional interpreter...oh darn you're staying with your family so they'll already understand you. Uhm I could be your food taster. Make sure they don't give you anything with too much garlic!Or too much apple.
(Pause while facing50 has a temper tantrum)
...I want to go too!
Lovely photographs though and they capture the beauty perfectly.
Have a lovely weekend...hope you put your clocks forward ;)

Paula MJ - I expect that brought back memories for you! xx

Facing50Blog.com - well, good morning. You're up and about fairly early as well! Isn't it wonderful to have the lighter evenings now?! Dear little friend, you can come with me to Paris anytime you want to. I'm sure we would be in hysterics for most of the time though! You'd love my daughter as well, because she's got the same sort of humour. Hey, you could bring your mum along just for good measure! Imagine us lot down the Champs Elysee!! x

I love those flower baskets! So pretty! I know what you mean about scanning the pictures in...plus, it's kind of a pain in the rear. LOL

I'm green with envy, Thisisme! I would love to visit some of the places you are featuring, including Southhams. Isn't it wonderful when winter retreats and everything comes alive again? We often talk about the sights and sounds of spring and summer but let's not forget the important role our sense of smell plays. Fragrant blossoms, yummy baked goods, aromatic foods served at sidewalk cafes...the smell of a clean, tourist friendly city adds so much to your enjoyment.

Empty Nester - A pain in the rear - I couldn't have put it better myself!!

Shady - Oh, your comment was so evocative of all those smells. I was walking along the pavement and I can smell all those wonderful aromas from the cafes. Gosh, I'm hungry now! Roast chicken for dinner!

Desiree & Chatty - Thank you, and thank you so much for stopping by this Sunday to post a comment.

What a gorgeous looking place. Yes please take photos of pastries next time! I have your blog on my sidebar, but there is something wrong, it doesn't show your thumbnail and it says there is no such blog when I click on it. Any suggestions? Have a lovely week, love Linda x

Southhamsdarling said...

Hi Belle. Yes, actually, it is a romantic place!

flowers on my table - ok! Photos of the pastries next time. I'll have a word with the lady that made the Blog Button for me, and see what she can do. Thanks for pointing it out.

Maison Lafitte looks like a small palace! I love Paris, despite my memory of being a completely lost 16 year old American girl on my own who could not find a single Parisian to help me find my way. Thank goodness my prayers were answered or I might be there still!

Rick, says he is taking me to France next year, I dream of it often.
I do want to visit Paris, but I also want to rent a car and visit small towns and villages. Your photos were lovely.

Oh, what a pretty town! I really do need to get back to France one of these days....

Southhamsdarling said...

kneesandpaws - phew! thank goodness you did escape in the end, although it's not a bad place to be stuck! I can imagine how you felt though as a 16 year old!!

Becca = so glad you liked the photos.

Jilda - let's hope that you do get to go to France next year. It would be a wonderful trip!

On My Soapbox - thank you for coming over and leaving a comment. It is a very pretty little town, but they all seem to be the same in France. So much better looked after than here in England certainly,.
