Yesterday Was A Good Day - A Beside the Beach Day!

Well dear bloggy friends, yesterday was a good day for me.  I went to visit a friend who lives about an hour away.  I haven't seen her this year, so it was lovely to be able to catch up on all the news and enjoy some quality time together.

She lives only five minutes from the sea, which I absolutely love.  Fortunately the sun shone all day, although it was still a bit chilly in the wind.  We walked on the beach and paddled in the water. We  sat outside and had our lunch (with the obligatory glass of wine of course!) overlooking the boats.  The place where we had lunch was called The Crab Shack and sold the most wonderful seafood, which had all been caught in the sea just around us, so it was SO fresh!  I had fresh crab salad with caramelised scallops.  Yum Yum!!

That is just my kind of day, and I thought you might like to see a few photos that I took.

I'm up late so I caught your blog early for once! It is 11:30pm here.
What a lovely place. I love day trips to the sea or forest. Lovely pictures, I especially like the boats.

Donna - you're so right about us girlfriends getting together and having fun!! Thanks for the compliment about the blog.

Anne in Oxfordshire - yes, that's the only thing about being where you live, it's so far from the sea! I'm very close to it here in Devon and I am so grateful for that. Hope you have a good weekend.

Belle - you're up late indeed! It's funny with posting comments with the time difference with all of us. Glad you liked the photos. It is a lovely place.

A day well spent is a day spent by the sea! I am a water bug and love every moment spent near almost ANY body of water. Your pictures are fantastic. So happy you had a day spent with a dear friend by the sea!
Hugs~

Great photos what a lovely place to spend a day, isn't wonderful to meet a friend and have lunch and relax....lucky you I never seem to have time to do something like that...always running around after one child or another.

When I saw the title I said "Yippee!" [no, really - ask the dog. I did]
because I knew there were going to be lovely pictures to go with a great story and you didn't disappoint :D

This sounds like the most oh so perfect day! :) - You just can't beat it.

The water is so beautiful and blue....I love that.

Hope you are having a great Friday and your weekend is extra special.

I'm starting to think that fine weather is somewhat of a rarity in your part of the world, Thisisme, at least around this time of year. Your celebration of good weather when it does come makes me realize how spoiled I am by the seemingly endless string of sunny, warm days that we enjoy here in Florida throughout the winter and spring. We are actually getting desperate for rain now and would love to import some from England. I hope you have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend!

Just lovely! So glad you had such a special time ~ glad, too, that you shared it with us through your beautiful photos ~ Thank You! Love Brenda

Awww- it looks beautiful there. Someday I hope to be able to go to the seaside. Thanks for visiting my blog, btw. And it's not that I don't like England- I REALLY love it!! I DO!!! It's just more the circumstances and the missing home I don't like at the moment. I'm sure as soon as I get a job and a bit of independence I'll be fine. Anyway, Thank you SO much for the support!!!

I simply love it when I know my friends have had such an awesome day and it is even better when they took lots of pictures. You did really good girl. That is one gorgious area and the food plus the wine made it perfect. Thanks for letting us tag along so to speak. Have a marvelous rest of your Friday.

oh, how beautiful! that looks so peaceful! my kind of relaxation, for sure. the food sounds amazing. i love good seafood and sounds like that was the best possible.

glad you had a great day!

What a wonderful outing you enjoyed, Diane! Loved seeing all these super pictures...I enlarged them all so I could melt into the landscape and imagine myself right there, too. The setting looked so serene...the restaurant quaint...and a super picture shared of you enjoying yourself 'at the seaside' :)

I'm so impressed with your signing off thingy! What do you call it?

Southhamsdarling said...

Sush - it looks as if everyone loves to be by the sea or water of some sort. I just can't get enough of it. I just hope so much that we will get a good summer over here in England this year. Every year everybody desperately hopes for long spells of warm, sunny weather!

Jo-Anne Rambling - I'm confused now! Are you still the same Jo-Anne as in Jo-Anne Mother and Nana, or is this another Jo-Anne??!! Tuesday and Fridays I have the grandchildren, so I really do try to get some good times on the other days. I haven't done any housework for ages!!! LOL!

SkippyMom - I can just imagine you saying "Yippee""!! I'm glad I didn't disappoint you dear friend, and I hope Pooldad appreciated the effort you made yesterday!! Have a super weekend - I think you might be going to that Slack Shack or whatever it was called!! Hee Hee!!

Shady Del Knight - believe me, you are SO lucky over there in Florida to get long spells of sunshine. Please make sure you send some over our way during the first two weeks of June - thank you!! Likewise, I hope you have a relaxing weekend dear friend.

Vintage Sunday - Hi Brenda! My only worry is that everyone will get utterly fed up with the photos that I keep posting!

Sunny - it's lovely to see you over here!! I do understand that it's just circumstances and I know that it can be pretty miserable being away from family & friends. When I first got married, I went to Germany, and I had never been away from home before and I had two young children. I have to say that I hated the three years that I was there, although we did visit some lovely places, but it's not home!!

Odie - you are one dear man to get pleasure when your friends have nice days out, and I hope you enjoyed the photos. Enjoy your weekend my friend.

Aunt Amelia's Attic - yes, the sun actually shone. We haven't had any for the past couple of weeks. Do hope that your rain has finally stopped!

Kristina - yes, it really was a super day. We just came along that restaurant right on the beach. It looked great and certainly didn't disappoint! Enjoy your weekend my friend.

Teresa - Hi there! Yes, the seafood was absolutely gorgeous - so fresh. I shall certainly go back there again. What made it even better was that all the staff were so lovely as well.

I'm late in commenting and it took me forever to get to the bottom of your comments to write one. You are AWESOME. Everyone loves you. The pictures are beautiful but it's the crab salad and carmelised scallops that I can't stop drooling over. That sounds heavenly. So glad you had a good day.

Facing50 - I didn't mean to steal your sunshine, honestly!!! We were so lucky, as it had been really dreary all week, and we haven't seen the sun since! Still, I know that it is saving itself all up for the 11th June :)
