"She's A Star - She's My Star!"

Hallo everyone! I hope you're all having a relaxing weekend with those that you love.

I hope you'll forgive me today if I write as a very proud grandma of my number 1 granddaughter!

We have just heard that she has attained an A* (the highest mark) in her French International GCSE Exam -  and bear in mind she is only 13!  This Exam is usually taken at 15 and these are the Exams that are taken before they go on to study for their 'A' levels.

Eleanor moved to France with her mum and dad when she was six years old and has worked so very hard ever since then really.  In France they get so much homework, certainly compared to here in England.  I was always staggered by the amount that she had to study at home!

She is a lovely girl and I know that, if she were to meet you all, she would chat and chat and chat!! (She takes after my lovely son-in-law, as he loves to talk! My husband is quiet so, when they are all here staying with us, I think it's wonderful).

So, many congratulations to my much loved granddaughter - I guess we will have to hit the shops when I come over to Paris in two weeks time! :)

From a little girl so very small, how and when did you get so tall?

Raindrops and Daisies - Thanks Fiona! She did well, didn't she?! Bit dreary over here today again I'm afraid.

Claudia - that you. Yes, I fly to Paris on Monday 21st and return on the 1st Sept. Gawgus will be going away for 4 days whilst I'm there, so I won't have any transport during those few days. Anyway, as you say, we'll see ....

Shelly - thank you so much for that lovely comment! I must say, I don't envy you teaching 13 - 14 year olds! Quite an awkward age, isn't it, with all the hormones raging away!

Dizzy - thank you Carol and glad you liked the photos. Have a super weekend.

I'm so glad you're telling us more about Eleanor, your lovely #1 granddaughter. My goodness how proud you must be of her. Students who are challenged with lots of homework usually respond well. They rise to the challenge, develop good habits, and go on to become competent, career minded adults. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement, Eleanor!

Smart and beautiful! Doesn't get any better than this. :-)

Oh I hope you will have time to *take us with you,* when you go to Paris in a couple of weeks. We spent 8 fantastic days there, in 1999. I'd love to *re-visit,* through your camera lens and words.

Oh and btw, we did not just hit tourist spots. I didn't want to, and the museums were on strike anyway. I wanted to see "the real Paris," and was lucky enough to be emailing with a young French man, who met with us 3 times, and took us around, to "the real Paris." he even gave us advice, ahead of time, on what area to get a hotel in. How lucky is that, hu? :-)

More Congratulations to your lovely Grand!

Gentle hugs...

Have fun in Paris. My wife Jilda and I would love to visit Paris. We may have to knock off a bank to fund the trip so we're weighing the pros and cons of that approach :)
