Sunday Snaps!

Another week has passed by.  A week in which I find myself back with all my bloggy friends, and a time when I can get back to my Sunday Snaps feature, as I am now back to using my laptop again :)  It is so lovely to be able to have spring flowers in the house again, all the daffodils and tulips.  It really does lift the spirits when we can look forward to better weather ahead.  Now I know that a lot of my bloggies haven't even had a winter and have been basking in temperatures in the 70's.  To be honest, I think I would rather have a proper winter in a way, because then we can really look forward to the sunshine and blue skies - yes, even here in dear old Devon!!

It was lovely having my daughter and granddaughter over from France and, fortunately, we had a couple of really HOT sunny days when they were here, so we immediately headed off to the nearest beach, with Alfred, who had a super time racing around on the sands.  To be honest, I have never seen Bigbury looking better, and as we are out of the holiday season, there weren't many people around at all.  Heaven!

I'm afraid that Emma must have taken the next photo looking into the sun, but, then, at my age, it's much better for me to be shown in a certain light!! Hee Hee!!

As most of you know, I have four favourite girls (two daughters and two granddaughters) and here are two of my blessings. This was a day when it wasn't quite so warm!

Whilst they were over here, Eleanor wanted to have a go at surfing, so she had a two hour, one to one, lesson.  I did warn her that most of the time would probably be spent on the beach, just getting the feel of the board etc.  Anyway, her mum and I were banished to the top of the beach to start off with, so we settled down with a nice cup of coffee, basking in the lovely, warm sunshine.   About fifteen minutes into the lesson, Emma said, "I don't believe this."  We looked down, and there was Eleanor in the water, stood up on the board, riding a wave and raring to go!  She had a fantastic time, so we have another lesson booked for her when they come over again in April.

The young lad who was taking the lesson was rather 'dishy', as we all agreed.  When they first arranged the lesson, I could see Emma and Eleanor chatting away to him, batting their eyelids (LOL!), so when they came out, I said "well, how much is it going to cost?".  Huh, they were so busy drooling over him, that they hadn't even asked that obvious question!!    After the lesson, he said that Eleanor was a natural and that it was one of the best first lessons he had ever done.  You can imagine how thrilled she was!  So I can see that the car will be arriving complete with surf boards on top for their next visit. Perhaps I could have a go!  It was difficult to capture photos, but here is one where Eleanor is right in the middle of the photo coming into the beach.

Especially for Shady, here are a few photos of Alfred enjoying himself!

Well, I think that's more than enough for now.  In my next post, I shall be asking you if you have any tried and tested recipes for a new kitchen appliance that I have just bought.  Wonder if you can guess what it is?!

Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Well, I'm so glad I'm still awake here on the East Coast, dear Thisisme! I loved all of these pictures (including another stunning header photo). I am amazed that Ellie was able to get the knack of surfing so quickly. That beach is beautiful and I can see that a great time was had by all. Of course, my favorite pictures are the ones of my buddy Alfred. He seems to love the beach, the water, playing tug of war and lazily stretching out on the sand and soaking up the sunshine. This post made me very happy, my friend. Thank you and have a wonderful Sunday, dear Thisisme!

Can't wait to hear what new appliance you got~

Happy to read about your last weeks, glad your laptop and Internet is back :) Happy for Eleanor, she must have a talent for surfing, very cool indeed! And while reading your thoughts I realized that it sound so happy, somehow your positive vibes come through and I find that simply great! As for your new appliance it could be a slow cooker, a mixer, a Kitchen Aid, am I close? :)

You are a great tease, aren't you? How could we possibly guess? Perhaps a Juicer or a Smoothie Maker? No? An electric frying pan? Slow-cooker?
No, I did not say you are a slow cooker! I meant the appliance!
OK! I give up, but you can't say I didn't try :)
So good to hear your news and see these lovely snaps. Love your self deprecating sense of humour but we all know you look good under the spotlight! Eleanor is a brave young lass! I would never have attempted surfing. So, maybe we will see you heading back to shore on a board, too! Can't let your teenaged granddaughter outdo you!
I know just how much this post has cheered Shady today! Alfred is of course utterly adorable. And so lucky to play on the beach!
Love your new header. You surprise us constantly, but I know you're doing it to see who of us is paying attention.
Have a great day, Diane! xoxo

It is so wonderful to read your blogs again! I love the rock formations on the beach. It is amazing how well Eleanor learned how to surf in one lesson. Good for her. I didn't even know you could surf in England! Wonderful photos, and you look so beautiful. Have a lovely Sunday, sweet friend.

Tulips already! What a sporty young lady to get the hang of surfing so quickly. I struggle when I try to windsurf and at least there is something to hang on to, so do not think it is a sport I will ever try.

Be still my heart! I love the beach and yearn for it all year, but alas I must wait until July for a walk in the sand. The girls are gorgeous, but that Alfred makes me smile all toothy.

Hooray for your granddaughter learning to surf!!!

The instructor being *dishy,* didn't hurt any, either. -gigggles-

I can't believe that it was warm enough there to go to the beach - but I loved the photos. And your 2 granddaughters and daughters! And I am so glad you are back.

Oh, I love your beach, and the adorable picture of you and Alfred. He's such a sweetie! Looks like he has loads of fun on the beach, and the Granddaughters are brave to surf.

As you mentioned, we didn't have much of a winter, and that worries me because of the insects. Enough of them don't get killed out when there hasn't been much freezing cold. We'll have to deal with mosquitoes too soon, and it's hard to get outside without dousing yourself with stinky repellents.

So glad to see you back in bloggville with your lovely photos! Really like the bent one first off!!! Have a good week my friend. ♥

How fun! I have to admit I'm a bit jealous. I've always wanted to surf but I hear you should know how to swim first. (and it's preferable if you can see..) It's a shame really I'd look smashing surfing. (smashing because that is what my face would do in the water!) Anyway, I don't know if you know this but I grew up in France.

You are so fortunate to live so close to a beach. I'm glad the weather cooperated so you could enjoy it. You all look so great.

My grandkids would be so happy if they could come and visit me and learn to surf. " You live in a cool spot," they would say.

So good to have you back online.
