Sunday Snaps!

It's Mothers Day here in the United Kingdom today, and my thoughts quite naturally turn to my own dear mum.

If I had a wish, it would be that she was still here with me, for I still miss her so much and think of her every day, even though it will be sixteen years this June since she passed away.  I am just so very grateful that her ending was peaceful and that I was with her, holding her hand and talking to her right up to the end.  My special thoughts are with those of you that might be spending  your first Mothers Day without your own mum in your life.

I've got lots of photos of mum, of course, through the years, but it really upsets me that I just can't recall her voice, even though I try very hard at times.  I do have her on a little video somewhere, where she was speaking to me, so I really must try to find it.  This was before the age of digital cameras and camcorders.  It is so much easier these days to record precious moments that will last for ever.

This is mum how I remember her, sitting in the garden with her cup of tea!  I am only sorry that she didn't live long enough to see the house that we live in now.  She would have loved it, and the garden.

Mum's favourite flower was the Violet, so it is quite fitting that Ruby is called Ruby Violet!

Happy childhood memories filled with love.

God Bless You Mum.

Happy Mother's Day to you dear friend! I've read on Ms Emma's blog how wonderful you are as a Mother. Didn't need to read that to know it but it was very loving and spot on! Your post to your Mother is very tender and touching. I do sadly know what it is to miss my Mom, but cherish memories as well.
Have a lovely Mother's Day, Diane you are such a wonderful woman, Mother and friend.

Hugs~

Such a lovely woman. You get it honestly my friend. Thank you for sharing her with us.

My Mom has been gone 1 1/2 years now and I think of her when I find myself doing something that we used to do together or when I look around at all the little tchotckes she gave us over the years. They may be gone physically, but I think they are always with us, somehow, somewhere.

I do have videos of my Mom talking - she loved to talk when we taped - and we still laugh at her New York accent. She hadn't lived in NY for over 50 years but she never lost the twang. ha.

Hope you have a good day with the family today. Enjoy!

As I told Emma on her blog (shadell6667) I needed to look at the calendar because I was not familiar with "Mothering Day" in the UK. Thisisme, this is a warm and wonderful tribute to your mum and my heart aches for you. I know what it's like to yearn to be with your mother because mine died 17 years ago and I think about her every day just as you think of yours. I hope you can find that tape so that you can hear her voice again. Your mother raised a fine daughter and you paid it forward by raising beautiful, intelligent, loving and caring daughters of your own and the chain continues with Eleanor and Ruby. I am absolutely certain that your mum is very proud of you, all you have accomplished and all that you are. Please be happy today. You mean so much to so many, my dear friend. Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day!

Such a sweet post. We are blessed to have wonderful mothers, aren't we? In our later years, we rely on our memories to keep them alive for us. While my mom is still living, her stroke stole so much of her from me. But I am grateful for the extra years I've had with her. Happy Mother's Day to you.

What a beautiful woman she was. I can see kindness and love in her eyes.

This was a wonderful remembrance of her. It touched my heart when I read how you were with her at the end, ushering her into eternal life.

Happy Mothering Day, my friend. I hope it is grand and glorious for you.

That was such a precious tribute to your wonderful mother. Your posts are always so well done and show us how it should be.
My mom passed on my oldest daughters B/D Aug. 7th 2002. I have a recording of my dad's voice but sadly I do not have one of my mom. That is why I did the hour long video of my Aunt Katie so I will have that always as well as my Uncle Lester that was sitting beside her.
My sisters and I took care of mom during her last year and rejoice having that time with her.
Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon my sweet friend.
Hugs,
Odie

Happy Mother's Day to YOU, sweet Diane! I remember seeing on my calendar that today was Mother's Day in the UK, but then immediately forgot! I lost my mom, too, many years ago. In fact it was in the month of March, 1989. I love all the quotes at the end of your post, too. All so very true! Big hugs to you today!

Happy Mother's Day This! I love your post and the pictures of your Mom. She looks like she was a real sweetheart. Just like her daughter too! While my mother and I have a different kind of relationship, I am grateful she's still with here at 87 and living life well. I respect her and I'm grateful for the childhood she gave me. I've also learned how not to let her push my buttons!! Hugs!

Happy Mother's Day to you. Just yesterday I was thinking of my mom and my mother-in-law. Hubby and I had our grandson for most of the day and both women (and our dads) would have loved the stuffing out of our little one.

It has been 29 years since my mom passed, 34 for hubby's mom. Most times when I am missing them it comes like yesterday, a wistful time but based on a happiness I would like to share.

You have written a lovely tribute.

Goodness, here I am crying again, I had read your post earlier today and got emotional then, too. We can't help but get emotional about our mothers, can we? Diane, I agree with Jenny, your mother was beautiful and I just know she had to be the best mom ever! The photos are so special and I love the way you added the borders and the quotes. You now have me to thinking of how I wished I had recorded my mother when she was well.

This is the most loving tribute to your mother. By the way, I have a light violet colored sweater exactly like the one your mom is wearing in one of the photos. Every time I see my mother I am afraid it will be the last time. I always take her picture when I see her. It is good you have some wonderful photos to help preserve those "precious memories" as one of my favorite old hymns goes... ♥
