Sunday Snaps

Hi again everyone.  Well, we have had a real taste of sunshine and warm weather for the past couple of days, and very nice it has been too.  Doesn't it make such a difference when the sun is shining?!

Once again I have been trawling through my photos to come up with some more Sunday Snaps, and I hope you enjoy the selection I have for you today.

This first one was taken at the beach a couple of weeks ago, when the weather was still decidedly chilly!

I love this next one of Eli, which was taken on my birthday last year.  As you can see, his hair is still quite long, and he still has quite a baby face.  This year, he is fast growing up, and that babyness is starting to disappear :(

The following is another one of Eli, again taken on my birthday last year.  It was the first time that he had been to a 'posh' restaurant and here he is sat at the table.  He obviously knew that something special was going on and was quite excited about it all!

This next one is of Alfred when they were here visiting in April of last year, when the weather was absolutely fabulous, so we are hoping that it will be the same this year, when the family arrive, once again, from France, in a couple of weeks time.  Eleanor will be keen to go surfing again!

I took this photo of the house yesterday under a lovely blue sky.  Not much colour yet, I'm afraid, because it is a little too early for the tubs and hanging baskets.

This next photo is of daughter number 2, who actually had a couple of days away without the children the week before last, when she travelled up from Devon to near London to celebrate a friend's special birthday.  Daughter number 1 also travelled over from France with a couple of friends, so it was lovely for them to all meet up together.

Here are my two girls together, no doubt getting ready for a fantastic evening!

This last photo is a bit special - it is of my mum as a little girl (on the left) with her brother and sister.

My grandad must have carried this photo all through the First World War with him, because when I turned over the photo, this is what I saw -

I do hope that I haven't put in too many photos today, or bored you too much with the little accompanying stories!  No doubt I'll see you all later in the week.  Until then, take care ....

What a special treat these pictures are today! Your grandkids are gorgeous, and what a special time for you girls to get together. Alfred is a little start all unto his own, and he looks like he was born for the camera.

The most special, though, is that precious pic of your mom. I can see some family resemblence there, too! How special for that inscription by her dad on the back. A true treasure, indeed!

This is a fabulous assortment of images, Thisisme! Isn't it amazing how a child's face changes in one year's time? I love those adorable grands of yours and Alfred is a fine specimen of a dog, isn't he?

I love the blue trim on your pretty house and so glad there's sunshine and blue skies above Devon and warm temperatures to make your garden grow.

Sung to the tune of "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter":

Thisisme, you've got two lovely daughters.
Girls as sharp as them are somethin' rare

Walkin' about, even in a crowd, well
You'll pick 'em out, makes a mum feel so proud

Thisisme, you've got two lovely daughters

Thank you for posting that picture of your mum and her brother and sister. Intelligence and wisdom are written on their faces. I wish that I would have known them and I am so thankful that I know you because you possess those same strengths. Good night, good morning and happy Sunday, dear Thisisme!

I love each and all of the photos with each little story. They are heart warming and just bring joy to the heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and your love with us. Eli is adorable. I now they grow so fast. I can only imgaine how big mine are getting. Your daughters are beauties who surely take after their mom. Sunshine is so wonderful! We have had a bit of sun finally too. But it is short lived. As of tomorrow the rain is back they say storms are lined up for the next week or longer. Bummer. So do please share all your sunshine with us. Blessings

Eli and Ruby look so beautiful on the beach and yes, Eli has changed a lot in a year. He is a little boy now. Your daughters are so pretty and look vital and happy. I love the picture of your mother as a child. Wasn't she a beauty! I'm very sorry about your grandfather.

Your house is certainly beautiful, Diane. It is very much like the house my parents built when I was 16. Hugs.

Never boring to read your posts, the stories are always fascinating. Your grandchildren look so happy, as do your daughters. Will Emma come for Easter? As for your grandfather the picture must have brought much comfort in hardship times. Happy Sunday, off to an orchid exhibition, thus I am sure I will get some nice shots. And btw your house is so pretty, so English, so southern :) love it!

I loved all the photos you shared with us today. I'm always looking forward to your Sunday Snaps! Eli is so very cute. And your house looks lovely, and yes the sun makes things so much easier and brighter. You get more energy to do things [in a way]. Your daughters are both very beautiful. And I can imagine that the photo of your mother and her siblings that it's a very special one, with the writing on the back of it.
It's a treasure to have those old photographs.
We have some nice sunny weather over here in Dublin this weekend, and it's very nice for a change.
Not doing any painting today - just enjoying the weather and chillin'.

Have a fantastic Sunday!

Oh, I love them all. Your daughters are lovely so I can see how the grandkids turned out so beautiful.

What a gem of a photo you have there of your mom when she was a little girl and the wording on the back side! That's priceless.

Your home is beautiful Diane. I'll bet it's glorious when everything's in bloom. You'll have to post more photos of it later.

Really enjoyed the snaps!

Great pictures and I never get tired of looking at anything you post. I am especially in awe of the back of that photo/postcard. Gives some insight to where it traveled and what it meant to him. Beautiful.

Glad your weather is cooperating! Your house is beautiful! Can't wait for more photos as spring blooms.

Girl, you could never bore me and the more pictures the better for me. Loveliness sure runs in your family. That was a great shot of your girls. And your mother was simply adorable as a child. Very pretty as well.
I sent you an email about finding a can of "Ambrosia Devon Cusard" in a store today in Old Fredericksburg, Virginia. Actually canned in your home town. I was excited to find it. As always your Sunday Snaps blog was aweesome. Thanks again for the sweet card.
Hugs,
Odie

I loved this. I could be bored by seeing photos of those nearest and dearest to your heart. Your family is so beautiful, and I think it must be in the genes. Your mother was just a doll. I loved the photo.

Also, I loved the photo of your home. It looks like just the perfect house for you. I love the blue shutters.

Dearest Diane,
Wow, how special today's "Sunday Snaps" are♡♡♡ I was amazed all of the pictures. The first one is taken such a moment with sutting sun, maybe. Your angels Eli and Ruby are stunning in these pictures at the time of your last year's birthday♬♬♬
Oh, I was almost in tears thinking how precious the picture would have been for your granddad!!! It is amazing to know how advance the photographing in the western country. (Belle's baby grandmom's pic surprised me as well)

Have a lovely new week, my dear friend.
Love you always, xoxo Miyako*

What a difference some days of sunshine make. Too true. We have had nothing but rain for days and days and we are feeling a bit dull around the edges.

Great shots of your girls! :)
