Pinterest and Private Family Photos...

Hi there everyone.  Here we are at the start of another week, and it will soon be the start of a new month.  Can you believe that we are almost in May already?!  With the dreadful weather that we have been having over here just recently, it seems more like November, which is not good.

Anyway, we can't do anything about the weather, so we just have to try to remain upbeat and positive, even if the skies are gloomy overhead. (Gosh, I almost felt a song coming on there for a minute!).

I don't usually post the day after my Sunday Snaps feature, but I read a post yesterday from Bouncin'Barb which did worry me a little, I must admit.  Please click on the link and pop over to read her post.  I love Pinterest and enjoy pinning things onto boards that I have made up.  Just to give you an example, a few boards I have are entitled "Venice", "Elvis", "Vintage Greetings Cards", "Beautiful Gardens" etc. etc.

However, I have never actually posted any of my personal photos onto their site, as I just wouldn't feel happy with doing that.  Most of you know that I do post quite a lot of family photos onto my Blog, but I have the Copyright by doing that, and, really, the pictures are just for my Followers to have a peek at, just as I enjoy seeing other peoples' family photos and hearing their family stories.

I didn't realize that   my blog photos could end up on  Pinterest.  I do know that my daughters wouldn't be very happy about their photos being on there, and, certainly, they would not want the grandchildren on there.  I know it all seems very harmless, but you just have to be SO careful these days, as you never know who might be looking at those photos, especially where young children are concerned.  It really is a shame that we have to think along those lines, but I'm sure you will understand.

I was wondering what you all feel about this.  Perhaps some of you might think that I'm worrying unnecessarily.  Anyway, do let me know.

If anyone does think of putting  my blog photos onto Pinterest (and I can't possibly check on everyone!), I wonder if they wouldn't mind checking with me first.  Thank you so much.  As I said, I hope you will understand what I'm getting at.

Meanwhile, I hope you all have a good week.  Finally, I would just like to congratulate everyone who will be completing their A - Z Challenge today. I have been reading many of the entries, and I admire all of you who have taken part.  Each one of you has dealt with the Challenge in a slightly different way, and I have enjoyed reading every one.  Well done Y'All!!

Sunday Snaps!

Happy Sunday everyone! As the weather was so bad over here in England this past week, I have decided to go for some sunshine in my Sunday Snaps today, so sit back and enjoy the blue skies.  (Okay, I know that most of my American bloggies seem to live under permanent blue skies, but humour me here please!).

The family went back to France early this morning, and the little ones are now back home with their mummy and daddy, so it's just the two of us rattling around the house again.  Actually, I'm really hoping that little Alfred will be okay, as they had to take him to the Vets three times on the last days that they were here.  To be honest, the first time I thought he was  having a stroke.  It certainly didn't look good, but the Vet seemed to think that it was a muscular thing in his neck.  He just started walking backwards, and then seemed to veer from one side of the room to the other.

Get well soon little Alfred!

I'm Still Here!

Hi peeps!  Well, as you can see, I'm still here and I've almost survived looking after Eli and Ruby whilst their mummy and daddy are on their belated honeymoon.  They have been here since last Thursday and I have only two more sleeps now before I hand them back on Saturday!

I'm sure I've aged ten years in the past week.  What do you think?!

I have to confess to feeling SO tired at times during this past week, and I think my brain has turned to mush.  Obviously, it's been wonderful having them here but, my goodness, it's been go, go, go every day from 6.30 a.m. until they go to bed at night.  Let's just say that, at the moment, I'm feeling every one of my 65 years. Hee Hee!!

Forgive me if I take the easy option with this post, and just include some quotations from Pinterest which I hope you will enjoy.  Meanwhile, I shall just go and collapse in a little corner somewhere!

Sunday Snaps!

Well, hopefully daughter number 2 and her hubby are enjoying lovely hot sunshine over there in the Dominican Republic.  So far, so good looking after the little ones, although having the family still here from France is a terrific help!

Daughter number two's husband will be starting a new job on the 1st May and, to celebrate, they took us out for a meal on Tuesday at a very swish restaurant in Plymouth, so here are a few photos of the evening.

Entrance to the Ladies' loo!

We were served all this delicious food, when Emma reminded me that I hadn't taken any photos for my Blog. Doh! I was so busy enjoying it, that I completely forgot the blog photos! Hee Hee!  So she took this one of the Dessert that I had.

My First Vlog - Giving You A Tour Of The Garden!

Hi there. It's me again! So many of you left lovely comments about the garden yesterday, that I thought I would try to do an Odie, and make a little Vlog and take you on a tour of the garden!  Now Steven Spielberg I am not, so I'm afraid it's a bit all over the place at times, but I hope it will give you some idea of where I live.  How lovely if I could have a garden party out there with a Marquee (like the wedding last year), and you could all come along and drink Pimms and eat dainty little cucumber sandwiches! Hee Hee!  I just know that we would all have so much fun together, as I really do feel that we know each other very well.

I just wanted to let you know that my daughter and husband are going on their delayed honeymoon this evening for a week to The Dominican Republic, and we are looking after Eli and Ruby in their absence.  So!  I will be rather busy, and I hope you will forgive me if I don't get to visit you quite so much during this time.

Take care until I see you again.  Big hugs to you all.

Sunday Snaps!

Hi all my little bloggy friends.  Here we are - it's another Sunday and time for some more of my snaps.  We're going to start off with a couple more photos of the Easter Egg Hunt last Sunday, and finish off with some photos from my 65th birthday celebrations on Friday.

I am just feeling so blessed and so very lucky at this moment in time.  Friday was wonderful, which started off with champagne and opening of the pressies and cards.  Then I had to close my eyes and was led out to the driveway, where the pressie from my hubby was waiting - a lovely new car! I am still in total and utter shock about that, believe me!  It really was a complete surprise.

We then all went out for lunch at a lovely restaurant near here.  Then, today, the family held a celebration 'Afternoon Tea' here, when they invited a few of my friends around to join us.  Lots of Pimms and champagne was drunk, and I had such a lovely time.  Hubby gave a little speech, and then presented me with a little photo book on my life so far.  It was absolutely beautiful and all the milestones in my life were there, starting off with a photo of my mum and dad.  So many memories were in that little book, even containing photos of special friends that had passed away.  It was very emotional for me looking through the pages.

I really do want to thank my family for making my 65th birthday so very special.  I will never forget it, and it was so lovely having everyone here together.  I will now share some of the photos with you, and hope you enjoy them.

Oh! To cap it all, I placed a bet on the Grand National today, which is a very famous horse race held annually here in England.  My horse came in Third! Yay, and I did it 'each way', so I have won a little bit of money.  I scanned the list of runners and came across a horse called Sea Bass.  Well, as I love eating Sea Bass whenever I go to a restaurant, I decided to have a little flutter.  Well, it's as good a way of picking a horse as any!!

Now we have some birthday photos.

Well, I think that's enough for this week, but I hope I have managed to convey just a little of the happiness being enjoyed.

I'll say au revoir again for now.  Most of you know that my family from France are staying with us for the next couple of weeks, but I will try to get round to see you as often as I can.

Wednesday 11 April 2012

Hi  everyone. The Easter holiday is now over and on we go with Spring, full of new life everywhere, and the hope of a wonderful summer season in front of us, when I hope that we will all will be blessed with blue skies and sunshine.

Easter Sunday dawned with blue skies and sunshine, and all went well with the Easter Egg hunt out in the garden.  Eli was so good, and just picked up his own little eggs, pointing out to Ruby where she could find some.  Ruby on the other hand wasn't averse to just picking up a little pile, without leaving any for Eli!! (Tears WERE shed, just for a moment.  I couldn't resist sharing  this photo with you today where you might just spot a tear on Ruby's face, but I will be showing you some more photos in my Sunday Snaps feature on Sunday.)

Of course, the country is now gearing up to two huge events this coming Summer, being the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics.  I expect there will be street parties held throughout the land and a general feeling of the country pulling together, which can be no bad thing.  In these recessionary times, we all need a bit of feel-good factor to keep us all going.

Red, white and blue bunting is everywhere in the shops now and I'm sure within a couple of months, the whole country will be going mad!!  We're a pretty reserved bunch over here, but we can let our hair down when there is something important going on.

I can still remember the Royal Wedding which was held in April of last year, with everyone being so happy and full of joy.  That event really did bring the whole country together.

I think it's lovely that as the Queen visits every part of the United Kingdom as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations, she is keen to be accompanied by members of her family, both young and old.

Princess Beatrice Visits York with the Queen
This is Princess Beatrice, one of the Queen's granddaughters, who accompanied her Gran (as they call her) on the visit to York. I actually think that this is a lovely photo - she must have been having lessons from Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, because, I don't know if you will remember, but she was vilifed at the wedding of William and Kate because of the ridiculous outfit and hat she was wearing!

I hope you are all keeping well, and I'll look forward to seeing you again on Sunday.

What Is a Grandma?
A grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes. She is someone you can tell your secrets and worries to, and she hopes and prays that all your dreams come true. She always loves you, no matter what. She can see past temper tantrums and bad moods, and makes it clear that they don't affect how precious you are to her. She is an encouraging word and a tender touch. She is full of proud smiles. She is the one person in the world who loves you with all her heart, who remembers the child you were and cherishes the person you've become. ~Barbara Cage~
