Vintage Easter Cards

Many of you will know that I absolutely love vintage Greetings Cards, and as we are approaching Easter, I thought I would share some with you that I found on Pinterest.

I put the following onto my facebook page today, but I think it is well worth repeating here.

I do hope your week is going well so far my little bloggy friends.

I, too, am a big fan of vintage cards, In fact, I have a few lovely vintage ones from the late 1800's framed right now in our living room.

And, I so love your thankful sign I borrowed it on FB this morning when I saw it. So very true!

I for one am thankful for you, dear Thisisme! My favorite card here is the second one with the giant size chicks and the little girl. Could it be Ruby Violet? A few of these older cards remind me that wild animal illustration has changed considerably over the years. 50 or more years ago animals were depicted more naturally as the wild creatures they are. In more recent decades they have taken on human characteristics and made whimsical. Cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Woody Woodpecker underwent a metamorphosis thru the years apparently to make them look less intimidating. I prefer the natural, vintage interpretation of wildlife. Thank you for spreading joy again today, dear Thisisme!

Coming to visit you is always such a visual treat. I'm with you on vintage cards. The artists always put their full talent into each card.

A young in a thrift store yesterday told me that any day he is being seen and not "viewed" is a good day. Took me a second to catch the meaning (viewed in a casket) but indeed everyday we are alive we have so much to be thankful for no matter what.

Cute cards but you know my friend it is sad that it seems like 98% of what is seen around Easter is eggs, bunnies and commercialization.
I get so tired of hearing about Easter egg hunts and seldom ever about the real reason for the season. Don't want to come across as all negative but people seem to have lost focus and that is sad. Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday.
Hugs,
Odie

I'm so glad you visit Pinterest, b/c from what I understand it is so wonderful, but addictive! I have too much to do, but I know I would spend hours there. The Easter cards are a lovely example! Just gorgeous.

I'm hoping you are still enjoying the beautiful weather. Your garden must be a riot of color.

Hugs & much love to you my friend. See you soon!

Somehow the vintage cards always seem much nicer than modern ones!

It has become very cold over here again, and had some slight sleet earlier...and last week that was so beautiful.

Your cards are fabulous! I remember the little ones, that were much like Valentine cards. Easter brings out the beauty of nature, and shares it with us all!
