How Are You All? ....

Goodness me, December seems to be flying along at a tremendous rate.  I hope you are all trying to keep relaxed and not  to get too stressed out with all the preparations!  Exciting though, isn't it?!

I was thinking this morning about an incident when Eleanor was about four years old.  On the Sunday before Christmas, they always had a Christmas Tree Service in the Church that I attended, and I thought it would be lovely to take Eleanor along.

She hadn't been in Church before, and I explained that we had to be quiet, and that we would be placing baby Jesus in the Manger.  She was sat beside me, being as good as gold, when suddenly, a couple of pews back from us, a little baby started crying.

I will never forget how she looked at me with huge eyes, and said "is that baby Jesus, Grandma?!"  I explained this to the Vicar, and Eleanor had the honour of placing the baby in the Manager.  She was completely overawed by it all, but it is such a treasured memory for me!

Here are a few vintage Christmas card images, featuring Father Christmas, which I hope you will enjoy.

See you again for my Christmas Sunday Song!

Sending hugs from my home to your home.

Hallo, dear Thisisme! I wonder if Eleanor still remembers that special occasion as vividly as you. I remember taking part in Christmas plays and skits in church when I was a boy. I love to gaze at the vintage artwork on cards such as these. For those of us who are members of the boomer generation cards like that stir many pleasant memories of childhood innocence. I just returned from the veterinary office and am happy to report that Toto got her stitches removed this morning and is healing just fine, a small Christmas miracle considering the shape she was in at Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Thisisme!

Dear Diane, that story about Eleanor melts my heart! It really is profound wisdom. Christmas is a truly special time of life, and even though I get frequent Scrooge attacks, I manage to find peace, comfort and joy in all the ruckus.

I am making a real effort to slow down. Christmas is always more precious through the eyes of little ones like Eleanor.

Dear Diane,
Cute story and a nice memory I can imagine. I love the vintage cards. The days are rushing by too fast these days, and before we know it we have entered into a new year. Cold over here today, but it has been a nice day and no rain. Enjoy your weekend my friend.
Hugs,
Eva

I love that sweet story. Last year William portrayed the baby Jesus in their church's program. I'm sure he won't remember that!

Darling story Diane.I love those precious words that come from the 3 and 4 yr old's. One of My daughters, the one that was a big eater and a little chubby was about four sitting next to My dad at church watching a baptism. He explained to her what was happening, she whispered back to him " I'd rather have the crackers and juice."She was referring to communion :)

Hi Thisisme. Moving right along with my catchup. Made it to your last Sunday song, and loved it.

Yes, I'm starting to get a little frazzled about Christmas. And, at my job, they schedule activities, so there's extra shopping and baking to do.

I love your vintage Christmas cards, they bring back such fun memories of Christmas past. Hope your weather is holding up beautifully! See you soon!♥

Those vintage Christmas cards are awesome I do love the older cards not that there isn't a lot of great cards around today......

The story about Eleanor reminded me of my youngest Jessica when she was around 4 or 5 she was looking at a nativity scene and she says that isn't the baby Jesus that is a doll and I tried to explain to her that Jesus was born a long time ago and the scene was just to remind us about his birth and she is like what makes his birth so important I try explaining it to her and she says my birth was more important and why don't they have a scene about my birth it ended up giving me a right headache
