The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

Here we are then, in the season of Advent, leading up to Christmas, and I hope you are all decking your halls with boughs of holly!

My trees and decorations are all up, and I just love all the pretty fairy lights all around, especially on these shorter Winter days over here in England. Two of my grandchildren are aged 8 and 6, and they only live five minutes away. This is so lovely for me as I get to share in all the excitement of the lead up to Christmas.

I have always loved Christmas and have fond memories of when I was a child. Mind you, there wasn't the commercialism back then. Every Christmas Eve, my dad and I used to go to the Market to collect the goose for Christmas Day, and we would also buy my mum's Christmas present at the same time. Happy times my friends 🎄🎄.

I just love anything with a vintage theme, and this includes Christmas Cards, so I thought I would share a few with you today.

Don't you just love how the ladies are all decked out in their gorgeous gowns as they prepare for Christmas?! Love it!

I'm foregoing my Sunday Solace feature just leading up to Christmas, and will start it again in the New Year.

A glimpse of my house all ready!  Although we haven't got a thing on our American friends, who really go to town when it comes to decorating! 🎄🎄

Wishing you all a peaceful week ahead as the preparations get under way.  There is also a new Featured Post up today.

I shared the pictures of your lovely home on FB with Maggie (oldest lovely) and the two of us just LOVED them. We want to move in. When can we come? LOL I love Christmas, too and I always focus on cherished memories of my childhood Christmases. My grandparents made every holiday special but mostly Christmas. It was such a grand time of anticipation. I know how great it is to have grands close by. This is Marcy's first Christmas but they will go to Indiana to be with Evan's grandmother. I told them it was fine to switch. She's the oldest great-grandmother and isn't doing well. She needs to meet Marcy. They'll only be gone from Christmas Eve to the 27th and we'll have a huge family gathering on the 28th and then the huge oyster roast on New Year's Eve. PLUS, and this is the selfish part, we get Marcy next Christmas when she's more aware of what's going on. Of course, I also told them that they can't take any of the cute Christmas clothes I bought for her to THAT PLACE. LOL

Thank you Odie for your kind comments, as always. You should just put up a little Christmas Tree, you know. The header photo on the blog is a place I walk by quite often. The beach is right on the other side of that pastoral scene, and a lovely coastal walk. Look after yourself my friend.

Hi Pam. Well, you're all on the ball with your comments today! That's so sweet that you shared my photos with Maggie. The house is made for this time f the year, I must admit. It will be lovely for Evan,s grandma and, you're right, it will be more fun with Marcy next year!! I really smiled about the comment about the cute Christmas clothes not going to THAT PLACE!! 😂😂. It's lovely that you'll all be together just after Christmas and for New Year though. Have a good week my friend.

Hi Bee Bee. As I said to Pam, you're all here early with your comments today. Must be something in the air! Thank you for taking the time to drop in to visit me, and, as always, I'm glad you enjoyed the post today.

You have done so much in your home for Christmas! The Advent wreath is simply beautiful. We always made one at home when I was growing up. My brother was an altar boy in his youth, and would always get to help light the Advent candles during the Christmas month. Your vintage cards are adorable with the gorgeous winter outfits on the girls. I have to say, my favorite is the white outfit of the girl sitting on the Christmas tree branch!

You always decorate your home beautifully, Thisisme. I'll bet Eli and Ruby are getting excited for Christmas! Have a wonderful week. Hugs from Texas! ooxx

Good Sunday to you, Suzanne. Those ladies on the Christmas cards are something else, aren't they. I feel particularly under-dressed now! Yes, Eli and Ruby are getting really excited now, as I suspect, is Scooter. They're at such a lovely age for Chrisrmas ❤️. I do love to see the Advent Candles being lit, one week at a time. Have a good week my friend.

Hi Diana. Yes, I love vintage cards! Lots of them I can remember from when I was a little girl. I'm glad you liked the decorations. Best wishes to you across the miles 😊🎄

Those vintage cards are wonderful. The first one is my favorite. Your home looks lovely and that bay window area takes my breath away. Always wanted a nook like that. You are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place on this earth.

Thank you Linda. I'm sure Liam is really long forward to Christmas this year!! The first little card is my favourite too. I love the wide window sills as well. 😊 Good to see you here today.
