A Good Week ....

Hi everyone.  As the title of this post suggests, it's been a good week for me here in Devon.  On Sunday, hubby and I went out for a lovely lunch, followed by a trip to the cinema to see Meryl Streep in "The Iron Lady", the film about Margaret Thatcher.  Love her or hate her, she was an incredible woman, and to achieve the office of Prime Minister of Great Britain was absolutely amazing.  I'm not sure that I will ever see another female Prime Minister in my lifetime.  Meryl Streep, of course, was absolutely brilliant.

Monday was a quiet day at home on my own, but I enjoy days like that.  I've always been quite content in my own home, and can always find plenty to do.  Tuesdays I always see my younger daughter and the two little ones and, thankfully, it was dry this week, so we were able to spend quite a lot of time playing in the garden.

Wednesday dawned bright and sunny, which was wonderful, as it has been quite a while since we have seen any blue skies over here!  You can just see a slight frost on the grass early in the morning.
Just look at the blue sky!

Determined to make the most of such a beautiful day, my friend and I did one of our favourite coastal walks, and how lovely it was to see the sea and the beaches again.  We really are blessed with golden, sandy beaches very near to where I live.

In the last photo, you might be able to see that a sea mist was just starting to roll in, but that was on the way back, so we had enjoyed the most of the sunshine by then.

Yesterday, I met a friend and we went to Topsham, which is a quaint little town, right on the river, and with wonderful little shops to browse around.  Also a  lovely place to enjoy one of our famous Devon Cream Teas!

My friend goes to Auctions and buys pieces of furniture, and then renovates them so that they have what they call the 'distressed' look.  I did a post about this quite a while ago, and if you would like to take a peek, please just link here.  Anyway, she has had a lovely little table which I fell in love with from the first time I saw it, and she said yesterday that she was selling a few little bits and pieces! Yay! The table/desk that I so admired was actually the first piece that she had renovated, but she agreed to sell it to me.  I assured her that it was going to a very loving home.  So, here it is. I am absolutely delighted with it and it goes so well where I have placed it.

Fridays I look after little Ruby Violet, and I am writing this post whilst she is having a little nap.  Well my dear little bloggy friends, I think I will wrap this up for now, as I seem to have rambled on quite a bit, and I don't want you to get TOO bored with it all!  Isn't it funny, some days you can really struggle to find something to say, and then other days, you feel that you could go on for ever.  But, don't worry, hopefully I know when to stop!

I'll see you all again on Sunday, with a few more Sunday Snaps so, until then, please keep safe.

I hope you go on forever, dear Thisisme, because I always love reading about your days. I'm so glad you've been having crisp, sunny weather so that you can get out and about there in beautiful Devon. I love seeing pictures of you smiling. My parents enjoyed using that technique on furniture and I grew up with quite a few distressed pieces in our home. Please hug Ruby Violet for me and have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Thisisme!

You live in such a beautiful area! I'm glad you have had some sunshine. It has been sunny here most days, which is unusual in January. I love the desk you bought, it is just lovely. The flowers looks so pretty on it. My mom used to buy used furniture and do the same thing. Our house was full of interesting pieces. Hugs and love.

What a precious little table! No wonder you wanted it.

So happy it was a good week, and that you had so many good times.

What a beautiful area you live in.

I am envious of the table. I have looked everywhere for a small table like that for my back entryway from my back stoop into my kitchen and that's perfect. I'm thinking I'm going to have to do what your friend has done - re-do one that I have. I'm so happy that you're having some sunny days. A little sunshine does wonders for the soul, doesn't it?

Hope your weekend is as nice as your week has been.

Sounds as though you have had a lovely time of it. I am another who admires a woman who has gone as far as Margaret Thatcher has. I cannot say I love her but I do admire her and love Ms. Streep as an actress. Love all you have written and the pictures are great.

Dear Diane, I really really love the pictures of your walk by the sea. It would be a dream come true to visit your part of the world. I've often wanted to visit Stratford Upon Avon and other places in the countryside. It would also be amazing to see London as well. So thank you for sharing the wonderful places to see around your home.

Glad you got to enjoy some sunshine! It's so rare this time of year. It's a little deceiving, though, because we have to bundle up even when the sun's out!

I never get bored with your ramblings! On the contrary, I often feel cheated when you bring them to an end. I loved the variety of this post and so enjoyed sharing in the day to day happenings of your "delightsome life"! Please give us more of these posts! I loved hearing about the movie on Sunday, seeing your garden in its wintry hues, taking that glorious walk with you, seeing your delightful new table which does look ever so attractive on your landing and, to top things off nicely, you now have me drooling for a Devonshire Cream tea and I haven't even had breakfast yet!
