You Know You're Getting Old When ....

You sink your teeth into a steak, and they stay there.

You know all the answers, but nobody asks the questions.

You look forward to a dull evening.

You feel like the morning after, and you haven't been anywhere.

You have a party and the neighbors don't even realize it.

You get into a heated argument about pension plans.

You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.

You begin every other sentence with, "Nowadays...".

You get two invitations to go out on the same night, and you pick the one that gets you home the earliest.

It takes twice as long to look half as good.

It takes two tries to get up from the couch.

When your wife says, "Let's go upstairs and make love" and you answer, "Honey, I can't do both!"

When your doctor doesn't give you x-rays anymore but just holds you up to the light.

When your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you're barefoot.

The following photo is just to cheer me up a bit, as we have to endure the dismal, dark days of January here in England.  Oh to be back in Cyprus again, and to feel the warmth of the sun on my old bones!!!

I can relate to most of those quotes! It is interesting growing older, I can understand my grandmother better. She used to always wear a sweater and her shoulders felt cold. I'm the same way.

That Senior cell phone would be just right for me! I love the photo of you in Cyprus. I've never been there, but it looks lovely. I'd like to be in California right now myself.

Gawgus at 100. I hope I'm still around to see that. (LOL)

Hallo, dear Thisisme!

That moment you captured in Cyprus was incredibly beautiful. What a spot! What a day!

These seniorisms gave me a chuckle because there's a grain of truth in each one. In some cases they are literally true.

I am reminded of pianist, author, actor, comedian Oscar Levant's guest appearance on The Tonight Show, the one in which Johnny Carson asked him what he did for exercise. Oscar answered, "I stumble and fall into a coma."

I hope you're having a fine day over your way, dear friend Thisisme!

Now that I'm 50, I've determined not to call myself old anymore. but seasoned. It helps me to accept it! Those were hilarious. And that picture- stunning!

I too can relate to just about all of them including the cell phone sad to say. Did give me a chuckle to start my day after the foot patting from Shady's post. I spent some time gazing at the beauty in the last photo and actually like the scenery as well. Have a great rest of the week.

I want one of those cell phones! I hope that you'll be enjoying lots of sunshine soon. If you are familiar with Wall * E the children's movie, about a little robot who runs on solar power, you'll understand me. A few days of dreary weather and I'm down. Give me the sun and I feel young and alive again!

Sorry you are in the dismal, dark days of Jan. Our Jan. has not been too dark. Gray yes. But not too dark. But I so want some snow cover, to last, that is.

So interesting, the weather and surroundings in another country... Perhaps you could fill us in more, on just what it's like, in Jan., in "your neck of the woods"?

If you look out the window, what do you see? :-) If you go for a walk, what does it feel like?

I loved this post and can tell that the 'dark days of January' are making you feel old and weary. Time to head to Cyprus again.

I really related to the statement about having a party and the neighbours didn't even know. We had a party at work a few years back - just the executive office fogies! We were all gathered in the board room for the event, sitting at the conference table eating, when the lights all went out - they were motion sensor lights! How's that for a dull party.

So now I know what I have to look forward to [lol] Love the cartoon. That mobile phone looks cool! I love the picture of Cyprus, oh how I long for the sun to warm me again [oh yes!] So dark now isn't it?! Even though it's been a bit warmer today, it's still kind of dull. Have a lovely evening my friend! Big hugs x

With my bad knees/arthritis, I can so relate to "let's go upstairs and make love". There cannot be any stairs anymore wherever I live! Especially if I want sex! hahaha. This was a great post. And you look pretty hot in that picture!

Your ocean pic...so sparkly and refreshing! Yes, to bask in a warm sun-free Vitamin C & D! We've had a few dark, dismal days in Texas. There was sun this afternoon, but more cloudiness for the next few days. Your cartoon was cute! Hope you have more bright sunshine soon! Hugs!

I would like to say that I cannot relate to any of those quotes but that would be a lie...........lol

Now the only thing wrong with the senior cellphone is that no senior would be able to see the numbers.....lol
