Quotations and Mother's Day Presents

First of all, I have to thank you for all the lovely and touching comments I received in response to my Mother's Day post on Sunday.

I posted the above quote on my facebook page, and it gained quite a good response, so I thought that I would share it with you here today.

Most of my Followers who have been with me since the beginning, will know that I love quotations and it occurs to me that I haven't done a 'quotation post' for quite a while now, so I've been looking at a few, which I hope you will enjoy.

Every so often, we have little catalogues come through the post with special gift ideas.  I have always admired one of the items, and, look at this, Emma gave me one as a Mother's Day present, and, more importantly, she made it all herself.  Presents that are hand-made always seem to carry special meaning, don't you think? It was difficult to get a good photo really, because it is quite large. The wording Says "Home is ...... Where the heart is".  Then all the little maps are specially created for places that have a special meaning for me.

The first heart is where Emma and family live and  the second heart is where I used to live with my mum and dad as a child.  The third heart is where Alison and family live, the fourth heart is Florence (which I adore), the fifth heart (right in the middle) is where hubby and I live now, and the sixth heart is of Venice (my very favourite place!).  The bottom line of hearts starts with Lake Garda (you will see that Italy has a special place in my heart from all this!), followed by Bigbury & Burgh Island (which is the lovely beach that I keep posting photos of) and the final heart is Fallingbostel, where we lived for three years when hubby was in the Armed Forces.    So! You will see that each heart has a special meaning for me.  Lovely, don't you think?

Last,  but by no means least today, is this beautiful bouquet which arrived from Alison, daughter number 2.  Aren't they beautiful?  They came from the same lady that did all the flowers for Alison's flowers in June last year, and many of you might remember how stunning they were.

So, all in all, I am very blessed and feel very lucky to have two such beautiful and caring daughters.  Thank you girls!

Tomorrow I will share a little bit of spring which has arrived in my garden!  Bye for now.

I am astonished by these beautiful gifts from your daughters, Thisisme! I never saw anything like Emma's hand made "Where the heart Is" display piece. It's a wonderful idea and every time you look at it a multitude of happy memories will come to mind. The flowers sent by Alison are breathtaking and I wish I could scratch the screen and smell them. They are perfect for your header picture. You are indeed very lucky to have such caring and demonstrative daughters. The quote I like best was the one that reminds us that "worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strength." Thank you ever so much, dear Thisisme, for sharing more of your beautiful life and your kind and generous heart. Have a splendid day, dear friend!

That was a wonderful selection of quotations and we can all learn a lot from them.
You are certainly one blessed lady my sweet friend. Rich beyond measure with your loving family and it thrills me to read how they have shown their love especially when it was hand made.
This was definitely a "Mothers Day" for the books my dear. Now you have a wonderful afternoon as it is only 7:30 AM here across the pond.
Hugs,
Odie

What beautiful flowers! It makes it special when it came from the same place that made bouquets for her wedding. The gift of heart maps is inspired. It is so very pretty too. I'm glad you had such a lovely Mother's Day.
I always love good quotations and these were very helpful and lovely. I agree with Shady on his favorite - it is mine too.

Dear Diane,
What beautiful gifts. The one Emma made is sure to be a great conversation starter with anyone who visits your lovely home. It is so wonderful to receive a handmade gift. I also love the flower bouquet, it's so full, lush and fresh! My favorite quote is the one about never being to old to do something new. I think I'll keep doing new things all my life. I hope you have a beautiful first week of spring! Love, Jenny

I enjoyed your quotes, about courage and happiness. Your homemade gift from Emma is the best, and, I can see why it means so much. As you said, I believe there's nothing like a handmade gift, especially from a child. Have a wonderful week Thisisme!

The heart shaped maps of special places was just about the most perfect idea for a gift I have seen in a long time. How sweet! And the flowers, well they are just stunning. I would say they are the perfect English bouquet. Thanks for sharing.

Cherish those wonderful girls of yours This. On our Mother's Day here, I sometimes don't even get a phone call from my son. It's a day I remember my Grandma and thankfully my Mom is still here. I'd give her the world if I could but I buy her the prettiest card (she loves cards) and she doesn't open it until I am on the phone with her. Then she reads it and always makes a fuss. Hey, it makes her happy. Big hugs my awesome friend!!

How very thoughtful of your daughters for such sweet gifts. Please share the catalog name for the hearts gift if you know it. Sounds like a lovely gift to give to someone special. It shows that you've put a lot of thought into the gift.
