Today We Have a Little Poem ....

Hallo again everyone. Something a little different for you today; Yesterday I went to an Advent Service, and before it began, a lady read out a poem entitled Mary's Dream (author unknown).  I don't know if any of you have heard it before - I certainly haven't.  Anyway, I thought I would share it with you here today.

"I had a dream Joseph. I do not understand it, not really, but I think it was about a birthday celebration for our Son. I think that was what it was all about.

The people had been preparing for it for about six weeks. They had decorated the house and bought new gifts. It was peculiar, though, because the presents weren't for our Son. They wrapped them in beautiful paper and tied them with lovely bows and stacked them under a tree. Yes, a tree, Joseph, right in their house.

They decorated the tree, also. The branches were full of glowing balls and sparkling ornaments. There was a figure on the top of the tree. It looked like an angel might look. Oh, it was beautiful . Everyone was laughing and happy. They were all excited about the gifts.

They gave the gifts to each other, Joseph, not to our Son. I don't think they even knew Him. They never mentioned His name. Doesn't it seem odd for people to go to all that trouble to celebrate someone's birthday if they don't know Him? I had the strangest feeling that if our Son had gone to this celebration, He would have been intruding.

Everything was so beautiful, Joseph, and everyone so full of cheer, but it made me want to cry. How sad for Jesus . . . not to be wanted at His own birthday celebration.

I'm glad it was only a dream. How terrible, Joseph, if it had been real."

Something to ponder over as we approach the Advent Season.  I'm delighted to say that my Christmas arrangements are all well in hand.  Put the tree and decorations up at the weekend, much to Eli & Ruby's delight! Most of the pressies are bought and wrapped, and I will write my Christmas cards  at the weekend.  Smug? Moi?!! Well, just a little bit!

Thank you for all your wonderful comments when I mentioned that I might try to make a trip to America.  I shall now give it some serious consideration!

Take care everyone and I'll see you again soon.  Hugs.

Hi Dianne

Enjoyed reading that. I however am not at all organised for Christmas this year, but have written some cards, which I will post today. They will of course wish A Happy Christmas. Tomorrow may go around shops to think about presents, fortunately all three of my grandsons want a money gift, so have to look at girlie stuff for my grandaughter, then there is the adults. Christmas Decorations set to go up Sunday I think, well I can always throw tinsel over the unpacked boxes and bags, lol.

Oh, the message of the poem- wow! One we certainly should all take to heart. Thank you for sharing it with us.

When you land on the shores of America, look south. That will be me waving to you and welcoming you with open arms, my friend! What a grand tour that would be, and all of us could say hello!

Hallo, dear Thisisme! I fear that Jesus would indeed be regarded as an intruder at many Christmas celebrations because he is a stranger to many people. Mrs. Shady and I keep decorating and gift buying at a reasonable level and try to spread the spirit of the holiday all year round. Thank you for this post reminding us to keep our priorities in order. If you come to America, dear friend, please PLEASE bring some of that Devonish rain with you! (LOL) Have a wonderful Wednesday, dear Thisisme!

You are so far ahead of me. I have the tree up. That is it. I hope it is decorated by the end of the week.

I know I have been MIA, but you are always so kind to check up on me and I thank you and adore you for it.

Now WHAT is this about you coming to America, maybe? OH WOW - I must go and find that post, but you already know my thoughts on THAT!!!!! Oscar is gassed up and ready to go to where ever you land sweetie, believe it!

That would be so wonderful and what a nice wish to have. If there is anything Pooldad and I can do [transportation, lodging, tour guides - ANYTHING - you need only ask and it is YOURS-and whomever you bring with you.]

I think this possibly just made my WHOLE year. heehee

xoxo Skippy

Becca sent me over, what an interesting poem,it makes you think? I haven't even gotten my decorations out and we never have bought the gifts too far ahead,I like to shop in the thick of the season, but that is just my little weird hang up. I hope to do my Christmas cards next week!
Good Luck making a trip to America since it is on your wish list :)

Diane, you're planning a trip to America???? Here??????? You absolutely HAVE TO come a little north and see me too, in Canada. You would have your own room and lots to eat. We do that here. Yes, please come.

I know I'm a week late Thisisme! Please forgive me, we've been helping with our sick Scootie! He's better now and has gone home.

I read your poem, oh, it makes me feel a little guilty! It's true, we decorate and give gifts, and, sometimes we stray from the real meaning. But, we do come back to the real story, and celebrate Christ's birth! I hope he knows!

Lovely post. Will catch up to your others. Have a wonderful weekend!
