Happy Sunday to my bloggy friends everywhere! I hope I find you bright and perky on this sunshiny day. What's that you say, did thisisme say it was a bright day over there in darkest Devon?!
Yes indeedy! Woke up this morning to bright sunshine and a lovely, crisp blue sky sort of day. I immediately set myself out for a walk all around the village where I live. As you can see, the River Erme was in full flow after all the rain that we've been having. It was really quite noisy too, with all that water gushing down from Dartmoor.
Eeeek! I've got a real problem with posting photos. I' ve actually had to copy and paste the above photo from my facebook page. I've done my usual thing of clicking onto the little picture next to the link button and it won't allow me to get into the photos saved in the Pictures section of my computer. Any ideas, o wise ones?! This has never happened before, and I have tried it several times, to no avail :(
I had a few photos I was going to include today, so that's my post up the spout really, or up the creek without a paddle, as I haven't even been able to copy and paste the other ones. O woe is me!!
Another large high street store has closed this week because of the recession. Jessops was a really good camera/photo shop, where you could go and get invaluable advice if you were thinking about buying a new camera. I'm afraid it's just the latest in a long line of stores that have been closing on our high streets, some of which have been there since my childhood.
I honestly wonder how photographic shops manage to carry on these days, because we can do so much editing on our computers these days, that they are not really needed anymore.
It does make one wonder just exactly how long this recession is going on. I think it really is hitting everyone now, certainly over here in the U.K. I really don't envy the young ones these days, as they try to search for work, and goodness only knows how they are ever going to be able to afford a mortgage to buy their own homes. It really is quite a sorry state of affairs. We can only hope that there will be an upturn sooner rather than later, although I can see no sign of that the way our Government is talking.
I'm really sorry about the photos today my friends. Hopefully I will be able to get something sorted. Don't forget to contact me if you have any suggestions!!
Look after yourselves until we meet up again. Hugs.

Hallo, dear Thisisme! Can't post images? It matters not, dear friend, because one of your words is worth a thousand pictures! (LOL) Seriously, I am sorry you are having problems accessing your picture gallery. When I encounter a computer glitch I often find that rebooting (restarting) corrects the problem. It works much better than my old method which was to pour blackstrap molasses all over the keyboard! (LOL) I can't believe you are finally enjoying a sunny day. That makes me very happy indeed. We are having an endless summer here in Florida with temperatures at or near record high levels. I am longing for a cool, crisp day like the one you are having. It makes me sad that the little mom and pop shops are falling victim to the sagging economy or run out of business by the major chain stores. We can be thankful for the world we knew as children, dear friend, and we will always have our fond memories to share. Have a wonderful Sunday and a fine week ahead, dear Thisisme!
I am so glad you are having such sparkling weather! It just makes a person feel good, doesn't it?
I'm so sorry about your picture problem. As you saw on FB, I'm having the same trouble in getting any pictures not on my phone up.
It really is sad about the business closures. I do hope and pray 2013 will be the year that things start to come around.
I don't know if I have the problem. All the photos I've used so far are from my phone and Shelly seems to think those still work. I haven't upgraded to the new blogger so I don't know if that helps. I always seem to run into troubles when I upgrade so as long as they'll let me I'll stick with what's working!
I'm so glad you got another sunny, crisp day! You live in a beautiful area where getting out and about has so much to offer!
Hugs...and it was sooo nice to view this in full screen ;)))
Hello Diane ..
Happy to see you could finally get out for a walk ..:-) makes all the difference doesn't it.
As for you computer problem, I don't think it is you, It is Blogger, quite a few having a problem.. I cannot do the photos either , so I am using Windows Live Writer ,,, you can do posts from there and publish
happy Sunday x
Hm ... The problem is rather strange! Do write me and describe it with more details, I will try to help if I can!
HI, Pleased the sun is shining for you, we are currently waiting to see if the promised snow arrives BRRRR
Like the one picture you did get on here, I am having all kinds of problems at the moment, changes everywhere again, no messenger anymore all linked up with Skype, etc etc. GRRR
Anyway hope you have a good week, come rain or shine, snow or no.
I don't know why Blogger does that, but it happens to me too, from time to time. Then, the next day, no problem. Go figure. We're having sunshine too. And almost summer like temps so I am NOT a happy person. I don't mind the sunshine, but I do mind the 70s in January for goodness sakes. Sorry about the shops closing. Another issue with the photography shops are the big stores like Best Buy and then department stores like Walmart who also sell cameras. And, believe it or not, they actually have some knowledgeable employees. I much prefer the smaller, specialty shops though. Always have.
Hi Thisisme...seems like you've had this problem before. And, I have too! I always think that blogger doesn't like the picture I'm wanting to use, then I just wait and come back later. You know one year, I couldn't post a picture of one of my son's valentines to save my life. It was a Superman valentine that he received in 1987, almost vintage, lol! And I had scanned it in just like I do everything else. I had to send the picture to my picasa web albums finally-and, I had the hardest time just with that valentine. But it is so annoying. I have actually had to give up on some of the pics I wanted to post.
I saw your river on facebook...the prettiest picture I've seen in a long time! Made my old bones feel good. We're having a sunny Sunday too, in the 50's (sorry Shady!) He does need some relief down his way, don't you think?
Love your post, Thisisme. Maybe Eli's mum won't cut all of his hair off! Take care, have fun.♥
Hi Diane, the photo of the water was beautiful. Yes, I am having the same problem uploading photos from my computer. I was able to post a photo by clicking on the HTML link on the left of the dashboard. Hope you continue to have good weather. So sad to hear of the businesses closing.
Hi Diane,
As I said on your fb page, this picture is gorgeous - love the water flowing. Glad to hear that you finally had some sunny weather over there. Here it's been grey, rainy and cold - but have mainly taking care of things from my trip, the laundry basket is emptied and I am all prepared to go to work. Feels like I've had a longer break than 2 weeks, perhaps because I've been away..I think.
Have a great week ahead!
Hugs,
Eva
Hi Diane,
It is difficult times around the world now. I'm very fortunate we have our own business and are not relying on an employer to pay us, or worrying about losing a job.
Let's hope the economy picks up soon!

Hi Diane,
How wonderful to have a beautiful clear day for a walk! Yesterday we were in the 70's with sunshine. I was a little worried about the global warming issue, but then I decided to embrace it. I thought, how many 70 degree days will I have in my life??? So we went out for a hike in the woods. The fresh air had the effect of drinking a bottle of wine. The gentle breeze and sunshine near the lake was intoxicating. People came out from everywhere, and some even ventured out into the water in kayaks. It's good to be alive!
As for the photo problem, I'm also having difficulty, but mine is related to the adobe flash player and not blogger. I hope the bugs get worked out soon! Take care my friend:)
I was sharing with Linda yesterday on the way home from the gathering with my girls and grandchildren that Devon has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen with the village, shore line, your yard and now the river. All totally lovely and it is an excellent reason to get out and walk when the sun cooperates. Have a great week my friend.
Hugs,
Odie
Hmmm. Did you update your browser recently? It might have something to do with blocking pop-ups.
Not sure.
I haven't visited in a while. I love the picture.
Dearest Diane,
Oh My, gorgeous picture of the River Erme♡♡♡ Happy to hear you enjoyed the crisp sunny day. I DO hope you can have a help for your computer glitch, my friend. Whatever it is, always nags me as well.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
That one photo is well worth your work. One can almost hear the rushing and gushing of the water as it splashes and swirls over the rocks. The day looks lovely and your walk must have been invigorating.
I know a lot of bloggers having trouble with their photos. And I know a lot of US are having trouble with the recession. Don't know what the answer is.
Hello! I'm sorry you are having trouble with your pictures. I haven't yet, but if everyone else is then I will too. That's the way it is with Blogger - they must be fixing things or something.
That is a pretty river running through your town. I'm sorry to hear about the businesses going under. I do hope the economy gets better for everyone. Those banks and corporations have caused a lot of heartache.
Yes, I think photo shops will be a thing of the past. I never use one any more. It is like the movie rental places. They are all gone now. I hope your picture problem is fixed soon.
Try using the Picasa programme when you are writing your posts, to transfer photos Diane, it is easy and Blogger/Google's chosen platform so no problems. :)
Here it is Wednesday and I am just reading Sunday's post. I love the photo you posted. I've had some problems with photos lately too. I hope you get it solved soon.
