Sunday Snaps and "Thank You!"

Happy Weekend to all my bloggy friends out there.  First of all, I must say a very big "thank you" to all of you who left such kind and loving comments on my post about Kelly.  Emma has spoken to her, and she actually has three tumours on the brain.  Her Consultants are meeting on Monday morning to prepare a care plan for her.  Emma said that she was her usual cheerful self, saying that she had beat it once, and she is certainly going to beat it this time as well!  I do believe in the power of prayer, and if we all continue to keep Kelly in our prayers, that miracle might just happen.

Now for some happy news!  I have a friend who I meet up with every three weeks, and we go out for a lovely meal at lunch time, trying new restaurants all the time, accompanied, of course, with the obligatory glass of Rose`!

She is a real laugh, one of those people who it is just so nice to be with.  She is called Sue Lavender, which I've always thought was a beautiful name.  At present, her and her partner are on holiday in America for three weeks.  Anyway, I read on facebook yesterday that they got married on Valentine's Day in the Orange County Courthouse, in Orlando, Florida.  A complete surprise to everyone and it was just a spur of the moment thing.  They are a lovely couple, and I couldn't be more happy for them.  Apparently, they then went on to the Kennedy Space Centre to celebrate.

It's a bit of a hotchpotch of photos this week - no theme at all!  The following are some lovely daffodils, which hubby brought in for me from the garden yesterday.  The first ones, so that surely is another sign that Spring  can't be far away.

I know that there are some of you who don't actually like picking flowers from the garden, but we really do have hundreds of them at the bottom of the garden, as you can see from the header photo, so it seems a shame not to bring just a little sunshine into the house!

The next photo is of Ruby, and,  she was very happy with the little Hallo Kitty that I gave her for Valentine's Day.  It goes with the larger one that she had for Christmas.

I've had my iPhone on Contract for over two and a half years, so I did a free upgrade on Friday (well, it cost me £25, but when you consider how much they would cost to buy, that's nothing!).  The camera was good on the older model, but this one has an 8 pixel camera, so I was just playing around with it and used the reverse option  on it to take a photo of myself.

I can't remember whether I told you that Ruby has been going to Ballet class for the last month -needless to say, she absolutely loves it. I was babysitting on Valentine's evening so that my daughter and her hubby could go out for a meal, and I had settled them both into bed.  Anyway, Eli went to sleep almost immediately after the bedtime stories, but I could hear Ruby up there shuffling around! Anyway, she came down, complete with tutu over her pyjamas, and proceeded to dance and twirl all around the room!  Really, it is at moments like that, that make me so happy.  I was a good grandma though, and put her right up to bed again, because I knew she had to be up for pre-school in the morning.

I had a text from my daughter the next morning, so say that both Eli & Ruby were sobbing, because they thought I would still be there, and they had to put up with mummy and daddy! LOL!!

Eli goes to Little Dragons, which he also loves.  I do think it is good for them too.  It is called Little Dragons from age 4 - 7, and then it becomes Tae kwon do!

Eleanor had her injections yesterday for her trip to India at the end of this month.  She is going with the school and she is SO excited.  They are visiting Charities over there that carry out cataract operations for children, so it will probably be an eye opener for her, but a wonderful experience all the same.

Oh, I nearly forgot the photo of little Alfred who was enjoying the love on Valentine's Day!

Well, I seem to be rambling on a bit today, so I think I had better say goodbye again for now.  I hope you are keeping well, and happy to see the days getting a little longer each week.

See you again soon.

Hi Dianne,

Loved all your pics, good one you took of yourself. It is great to see the daffodils, I haven't really seen any out around here yet, I am so looking forward to Spring and longer daylight hours.

May God be with your friend and her daughter.

Have a good week - Nita

Diane,
You entered my thoughts today. I was going to see if I missed a post of yours because I was wondering how Kelly was. I am happy to read this post but she still has the hard part ahead of her.

That camera on your phone is a good one. That is a lovely picture of you.... All those features but that is why I don't want a new phone just now..... No time to practice with it. Your daffodils are the best I've seen. Yellow is so cheerful.

Re your friends who got married..... I think Florida does that to lovers. I was also married in Florida.
Take good care of yourself.

I love this post. It's almost like you and I are chatting about what's going on in our lives. Ruby reminds me of Cate, who will often put on a tutu and dance around. She even has William trying to dance to music.
I continue to pray for Kelly.

Diane, you have a full life...so much going on. I can smell the lovely scent of those daffodils all the way over here in the Bahamas. I usually miss the onset of spring back home, but it certainly isn't happening THIS early!!! Blessings, Rosemary

Hallo, dear Thisisme! I always enjoy your rambling especially when it is happy rambling. I was planning to mention Kelly in my comment today because she, her family, Emma and you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. If Kelly maintains a positive attitude and a determination to survive, then half the battle is already won.

Sue Lavender got married just down the road from Shady. I could have tossed a handful of rice out my window and I'm sure some of it would have landed on the happy couple.

The first flowers of spring always lift our spirits and your daffodils are lovely! I hope the English weather takes the hint.

I am delighted to see this new picture of Ruby Violet with glee written on her face. It's good to know she is involved in dance and that Eli is taking part in a martial arts program. Activities like these help children to build strength and confidence and develop social skills. Eleanor has seen some of the most beautiful spots on earth. It will do her good to participate in charitable work in India. She has a good heart and I can see her involved in philanthropic causes the rest of her life. My old buddy Alfred looks much happier in this picture than he did standing outside shivering in the snow and ice. Thank you for posting a pic of my favorite blog dog!

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday, dear friend Thisisme, and that you will enjoy a safe and happy week ahead!

My grandmother had the most beautiful rose gardens. Stunning. I could never do it justice with words, but for a simple farm girl she could cultivate and grow roses like no one I have met then or now.
When she was alive she would never cut them to bring them in the house to enjoy. She wasn't one for frivolity or non purposeful adornment in the home. She was a farmer and rose grew outside and that is where they stayed.
Still? I KNEW she wanted some in the house. She wanted to bring the beauty that she tended so well inside by here, but she wouldn't do it.
When she succumbed to Alzheimers in her late 60s and I was taking care of her I would cut a few roses and put them on the table for her. She didn't argue because she had forgotten that she didn't bring roses inside. Diane the delight on my Grandmother's face to see those flowers perched next to her chair still shines in my memory as one of the best ever. It was tho' Christmas came early everytime I brought one or two inside. I was damned if I was going to wait and put roses on her casket when she passed like everyone was planning. Why? She couldn't see those AND she didn't grow them.
So the whole point of this story is - who cares what others think about YOU picking YOUR flowers. Life is short - pick 'em and enjoy - they'll be back next year, as well you will be too. Proven fact that fresh flowers INSIDE the home makes people happier. Happier people live longer and blah, blah, blah.
Pick the POSIES! ::grinning:: Long live the daffodils [in a vase in your home].
You're the best, my friend. The stories of your grandkids always bring a smile to my face.
Please know we are saying our prayers too. She will beat it.
Love to whole gang over there. Enjoy your Monday. XO Skip

I will continue to pray for Kelly. She has a wonderful attitude - the same as my husband who has had carcinoid tumors for 20 some years. He is doing very well fighting cancer.

I'm happy for your friend Sue. I've been to Orlando and Kennedy Space Center - wonderful places to see!

Oh how I wish we had daffodils right now. There is still a little snow on the ground and lots in the mountains around us. Daffodils make me sneeze, but I love them.

I love hearing about Ruby and Eli. I'm so glad she likes her dance class and Eli likes martial arts. Shady is right, these kinds of activities are important for children. God bless, dear friend.

Dear Diane,
So sorry to hear of Kelly and her cancer problem. You can count on me to pray for her, one of my granddaughters is also named Kelly so the name is very dear to me. Love all of your daffodils. they are one of my favorite flowers. Our silver has a daffodil pattern. Wow, nice picture you took of yourself, you take good pictures, I sure don't. Absolutely love your scarf, I always wear them. Thank you for visiting me. Hugs...Lu

That wasn't a ramble, that a lovely meander.

Ruby is just precious! Obviously she takes after her grandma.

I till keep Kelly in my prayers. No one should have such a malady and worries, and especially not little ones or the parents of little ones.

I am definitely happy to see the days getting longer. Now if only the temps would warm up!

Hi Thisisme, again, I'm running so late. We have our little grandson about every two weekends, and, it's hard to get on and blog. He's such a handful, and hubby Karo has been sick with a horrible cold and cough.

What a wonderful post...how did you remember all that info to relay to us? Love the Ruby cats, and she's such a doll, little girls love to ballet!

And, you should be ashamed to have so many beautiful daffodils! I had cut a few of ours, and, they actually have a fragrance. Little Shawn wanted to smell them, and they smell rather nice.

I wish the best for your daughter's friend Kelly. I just cannot imagine being in her position with children, and trying to keep a positive attitude. I'm trying to be stronger for others too! They need our strength to keep theirs up.

Love your photo...you do good work! And, Alfred is looking good! See you again tomorrow!♥
