Have You Seen My Old Friend Spring Yet?! .....

Well, here we are at the start of another week, and it's the 8th April.  I'm afraid that Spring is still hiding away from us down here in deepest Devon (although on Saturday, we actually felt some warmth for a few hours!).  It is still bitterly cold out there and, to be honest, I'm going out as little as I have to.  I really don't like the biting Easterly wind that we have had for several weeks now.  In fact, March, apparently, was the coldest on record. Brrrrr!  All we seem to have heard here in England for the past year, is record temperatures - record amounts of snow, record amounts of rain, record amounts of cold temperatures!

Perhaps this means that we will have record amounts of heat and sunshine this Summer.  Do you believe that?  No, me neither!!!

The garden is SO behind compared to last year, when temperatures were in the 20's by now.  We are only just getting above freezing at the moment :(  I really wasn't built for the cold, my little bloggy friends.  Anyway, I thought I would post some photos of how my garden was looking in March 2012.  There really was so much happening out there.  This year, apart from the daffodils, we have nothing out at all.

I'm beginning to wonder, will Spring arrive at all this year, or will we just head right into Summer?  Answers on a postcard please!!

“Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?"...
"It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine...”

Well my sweet friend it seems to have arrived here across the pond with so many flowering trees, clover and some yard flowers that come back each year. at 5 am this morning it was already 50 degrees so should be in the 70's this week. Wish I could send you some. Loved your awesome pictures from last year. Stay warm and hopefully it will change soon.
Hugs,
Odie

Such lovely pictures, my friend. I'm so sorry you all are still having such weather. I do wish there was a way I could send you some of our record heat and dry spell. Come to Texas!

Hallo, dear Thisisme! This can't be happening... not again this year! If you have fond, nostalgic memories about last year's Devonish weather then you really do have a problem over there, dear friend. As you recall last year's weather was also disappointing and depressing much of the time. I predict the pendulum will swing back the other way and you will soon be basking in warmth and sunshine. I truly wish I had the power to steer some of this Florida weather your way, dear friend. Hang on. Things will soon be better. I wish you a wonderful week, dear Thisisme. Warm hugs and smooches!

Finally, we're seeing some spring over here. Hopefully you will have some signs soon, too.
(I hated to hear that Margaret Thatcher has died.)

Your photos cheer my heart and bring spring to my abode. Get this, we had a little snow last night but I hear it will be 60 again today. That how it goes in the mountains.
Your lovely header is also screaming, "this is spring. Look at me."

I just love your pictures! They are so uplifting. Hang in there my most awesome friend. Better weather is coming. Until then, stay warm and keep that camera ready.

Your garden doesn't look too bad at all Diane! I do hate that cold, biting wind though :/

Hi Diane - Your photos remind me of my spring times in England, oh, about 20 years ago. My favorite part was lambing season. I hear you on the cruelty of the spring season - spring fails to exist in that fairy tale seasonal display these days ... I'd say, "Well, at least we're clear of winter now," however, we are expecting snow and 6F temps tonight...sheesh. Our veggie garden is on hold this year too. xo Valerie

Great photo's of last years spring flowers. A promise of what is to come. We are having a late autumn, it will be winter before we know it. Just some hints of autumn so far.
Have a good week.

Diana

Spring arrived momentarily here, but we are expecting the temps to drop and the gray skies to return. I'm seasonally confused!
Is your greenhouse warm?
I would be out there:)

Hi Dianne

We seem to one slightly warmer day with no wind, like yesterday and I feel so much better. Then we get a cold one again like today and I wish like you I had stayed in the warm, it just seems to really get me at the moment and start this bug in action again. Here's hoping for more warm days very soon.

Hi Thisisme! I tried to get on here on Monday when I got home from work, but with no luck! But here we are! How nice to reminisce with you and your last year's gorgeous blooms. You know, I'm so glad to have photos of my past plantings, sometimes you have to give them up or you lose them. You will have many more this year too! You have the best crop (I know, crop sounds so country!) of daffodils ever!

Drats to your cold wind and contrary spring weather! Maybe when spring does come for you, it will last longer!

Have a wonderful week dear friend!♥

Dearest Diane,
So sorry for my belated comment, my dear friend.
Wow, how lovely your garden looked last year♡♡♡ Has the temperature gone up a little since this post? I realized that your mentioning 20℃ is easier for me to understand than Fahrenheit p;)
Take Care of Yourselves and I hope you are not too busy, to my friend in England.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

I think Mother Nature may have given up on seasons, just providing weather nowadays! Thankyou so much for your kind words and continuing support on my own blog, so much appreciated.

No spring in Michigan either and I've definitely been looking for it.

Happy Birthday dear lady! I hope you have a wonderful birthday, maybe even a whole weekend of birthday love with family and friends.
