Sunday Snaps!

Hallo again everyone.  Well, here we are and it's Sunday once again.  This will be a very busy week for hubby and I, as the local elections take place this coming Thursday, the 1st May. Eeeek!  We have delivered 5,500 leaflets, and will deliver to targeted areas during the next few days.

Roger has three other Candidates standing against him, and it's always difficult to predict how things are going to turn out.  Many people are so apathetic about politicians in general these days, so will they bother go turn out to even register their vote?  The Coalition Government in this country is not terribly popular at the moment, even though they are doing their very best with the horrendous mess and debt that they inherited.  So many people will probably register a protest vote against them.  I can just hope that a lot of people will turn out for a local man who really has worked incredibly hard during the last years, supporting people, no matter what their political persuasion may be.  Anyway, watch this space!

I did put the following two photos on my facebook page, when Emma and Alfred arrived from France on Friday, but I am including them especially for Shady, as I know he likes to see photos of his buddy!  I said on facebook "I think Alfred is pleased to see me, but you can never tell with his sad little face!!".  Several of my bloggy friends were generous and said that he looked "regal", "awesome", "stoic" etc.  Emma agreed with 'stoic'.  She said he is a very stoic little dog!

Today, it is the Plymouth Half Marathon, and many roads all around Plymouth Hoe and the historic Barbican will be closed off.  There is always so much bad media press about young people these days, but it really is a joy to see just how many youngsters get involved with this Race, and they raise thousands and thousands of pounds for the charity of their choice.  Many, many people are running on behalf of St Luke's Hospice here in Plymouth.  It really is such a wonderful place, as all Hospices are.

I haven't really said very much about Kelly over the past few weeks, but she really has been very, very poorly and has been at the Hospice for three weeks now, although she is hoping to go home again on Tuesday.  It is actually her birthday today - she is 41 - Emma is over there with her at the moment, but so desperately sad to think that this is the last birthday she will ever have.  On top of everything else, she now has lots of blood clots in her arms, and they are really swollen, so that they can't even lift up her mobile phone anymore or keep in touch with all her friends via facebook.  It would be lovely if you could still hold her in your prayers - thank you.

This was Kelly and Emma at Kelly's 40th birthday last year.

I don't really want to have to end on a sad note, so I will leave you with a couple of photos of Eli and Ruby when they were younger.  Where did that time go?!

This was Eli on his first birthday!

Ruby at 5 months old.

SEE YOU ALL AGAIN SOON MY FRIENDS.  TAKE CARE.

Hallo, dear Thisisme! This is a bittersweet post. It reminds us that, at any given moment, there is much for us to celebrate and much to mourn.

Thank you for posting new pictures of my good buddy Alfred who never seems to mind posing before your camera. I love Alfred as if he is my own and I'd like to say hello to my friend Emma and let her know that I miss her and her blog.

Your husband is a fine man and I know that you and he have both worked very hard on his campaign. I wish him success in Thursday's election.

I pray that today's marathon goes smoothly. There is an annual race coming up here in my community and security has been tightened in the wake of the Boston terror strike.

What can be written about poor Kelly that hasn't been expressed before? It makes me very sad to know of her ordeal and the resulting suffering of her loved ones including her dear friend Emma. I will continue to pray for a miracle cure.

Children are our future and Eli and Ruby represent happiness and hope. Thank you for posting these earlier pictures of them because I never saw them before.

Happy Sunday to you, dear friend Thisisme, and best of luck to Roger in the coming election!

OMG this post evokes a mixture of emotions my sweet friend. That was an awesome picture of Roger and I sure hope the election goes to your liking. I am sure Alfred is like Rocky and Soffie in the respect that he knows he is special and loved so very much and blessed to be in your family. I feel for both Emma and Kelly as they share time together during her suffering and of course all of you will continue to be in my prayers. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and I send you a warm (((HUG))) from across the pond.

Best of luck to Roger on his campaign! That's really very exciting.
How sad for Kelli to have taken a turn. I'm still sending my prayers that she may be comfortable and surrounded with loving friends and family.
The picture of Alfred reminded me that recently I had a dream that I was in the south of France, and Alfred was lost, and I found him and returned him to you in person! It was such a realistic dream and I laughed when I woke up. You were so friendly and appreciative in the dream, just as you always are in real life, or as real as you are to me online. I'm blessed to know you and to call you friend!

Best wishes to Roger. My heart aches for Kelly and I send up prayers. I love to see pictures of the kids as babies and especially Afred, my husband's favorite kind of dog.

Good Luck to your husband on the forthcoming election ... I wish this government were doing the best of a bad job ... they are rubbish and making poor poorer ...

I am sending prayers for Kelly and everyone around her, so sad ..

Unfortunately the youth do get bad press .. and then everyone is labelled . I know that there are extremely caring youth in our society ... but I also know there are scum ... yes scum ... It is so brilliant to know that the youngsters are out there doing their best to raise money.

Happy Sunday and have a good week. x

Hi Diane,

Good luck with delivering all the leaflets, and really hope that people will show up to register their votes.

I'm very sad to read about Kelly and her family, it's hard to find things to say in moments like this. Will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Alfred is as usual adorable, and I love the old pictures of Eli and Ruby.

Have a lovely Sunday
Big hugs x

My gosh, Kelly has really been a strong saint! And, to have the best friend ever in your Emma! Prayes and best wishes going out to them.

And a strong US vote for your hubby in his election! He has worked so hard.

Fun photos of Eli and Ruby...haha, looks like he decided to sleep on that snack. And, Alfred, in his shining glory...he's a class act!

Dearest Diane,
First of all, so sorry for my belated comment. It is Wednesday evening here, I AM crossing my fingers for your wonderful husband☆☆☆
I loved to see Alfred's cute pictures as well♡♡♡ Oh, I thought about the word 'stoic'. We use it with rather vague meaning for the people hard or austere on themselves as a kind of loanword.

I really don't know what to say for Kelly and her family!!! I'm hoping her easier days for her, my dear friend.

BIG GOOD LUCK on Thursday from east.
Love you always from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
