Poor Sir Alfred ....

Hallo everyone.  I know that I have been missing from my post here in blogland, but the weather has been so utterly glorious here in Devon for this past week, that I'm afraid I've been taking advantage of it, rather than sitting by the computer for long periods of time!!

Some of you might remember the terrible summer we had over here last year, when we just had torrential rain right the way through the summer months really, so this really is such a blessing, and lifts the spirits and the soul!

So I hope you will forgive me if I haven't been over to see you.  In fact, I think I will probably be absent for a while over these summer months.  I'm sure you will all still be with me when I do call in to see you again!

I have some bad news about poor little Alfred.  He's only just over two years old, and we've always joked that he's a lazy little thing, and has literally, sometimes, had to be lifted out the door to go for a walk.  I've always said to Emma that I wouldn't get much exercise looking after him!

Anyway, over the past six months or so, he's sort of gone into spasms every so often, and you can see that he is in a lot of discomfort during those times.  In fact, the last couple of times he's been over with us, they have had to take him to see the local Vet.

Unfortunately, these past couple of weeks, it has got worse, so Emma took him to the Clinique Veterinaire where they live in France, and he had to have an MRI Scan.  They discovered that he has a problem with his back, so they sent the results off to a Specialist to see if it will be possible to operate, or whether there might be something else they could do.  The worst scenario is that he could end up paralysed, so we're praying that something can be done :(  Poor little sausage - he's such a good little thing too.  But, as I say, he's never been the most lively of pups, so perhaps this is something that has always been there.  He looks really sorry for himself here, doesn't he?

I've just seen on facebook this morning, that he's taken a turn for the worse, and he is now on morphine.  I hate to think of him suffering like that.

They are due to drive over here tomorrow for the week, as one of Emma's best friends is getting married next Saturday and, in fact, Emma is giving the bride away, as this friend lost her father some years ago.  Please pray for little Alfred - he is such a little sweetheart!

Thank you my friends.

Losing a pet is so sad. Dogs can have a look that will bring tears to any eyes. Poor Alfred. Such a fate for a little guy.

I am so very sorry to know that the famous and precious Alfred has been suffering for so long. I have been there with Rocky when he had his first seizure and praise God his meds are keeping them away and then Soffie got a very bad kidney infection and ear infection but has bounced back. Now I am hoping that they can control the discomfort for Alfred and pray for a miracle but if it doesn't come I pray he will suffer no more.
Hugs,
Odie

This is the most horrible news, Thisisme. I can hardly believe my buddy Alfred is in poor health. I never would have suspected. You know that I will pray hard and often for his complete recovery.

Poor little Alfred ,, bless him ,, sending a prayer his way.

How wonderful for Emma and how unusual for a female friend to give the bride away ,, Not unusual that it is wrong , just normally a male relative or the mum would do it .. a big honour though xx

I know where you will be .. In the caravan .. :-)

You know I'm especially fond of Sir Alfred. He's just so adorable and has an "awesome" face to love. I'm hoping things turn out well for him and I do hope he sleeps away the trip tomorrow. Grandma will be good medicine for him! Give him an extra pet for me! XX

Oh, I am so sorry for little Alfred. I will pray for him. May God help and be with him. Don't worry about blogging stuff during the summer. It is just too lovely to stay indoors - that's for sure. Have a lovely visit.

Diane, I'm in the same boat as you...blogging only once a week these days. So much going on. I am really happy you are getting a real summer this year. Poor Alfred. My heart breaks when these little guys suffer so silently, not telling us their problems, just wagging their tails when we show them ANY attention. Hope you have a wonderful time with family from France.

I'm so sad for Alfred! I hope he's able to recover and heal. I'm also very sporadic at blogging during spring and summer, with gorgeous skies and traveling to visit my family. Have a joyous summer, and I'm sure we'll reconnect soon!

Dearest Diane,
So sorry for my belated comment, my dear friend in England. I haven't realized this post.
Oh My!!! This news really breaks my heart. How your precious grandchildren must be feeling sad also.

I DO hope you will have a rewarding summer time♡♡♡
And I truly appreciate your sweet heartwarming comment for me. My father doesn't respond for the medication well at the moment but he was taken care of kind staffs.

Thinking of you from Japan, big kiss and hugs xoxo Miyako*

Oh Diane, how did I miss this about Alfred? I had tried to read your post before and it was all jumbled on my computer. I do hope he is improving, he's such a dear fellow.
Prayers for you all and hoping Alfred is doing better. Hugs to Emma, cause these fur babies are as much our real babies as our real babies.

Hope the weather is all you are wishing for this summer. We just had a few days of rain, but it was needed.
Hugs and love dear friend~
