Sunday Solace

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening, depending on when you are reading this Post, which I'm writing here in ye merry olde England. First of all today, I would like to thank everyone who took the trouble to read my last Post, which was about the American tradition of Thanksgiving. I was quite overwhelmed by the response!

We have had very strong winds over here for the past few days, so the leaves are almost down from the trees,  as the autumnal colours fade away for another year, and Winter approaches. Although I love the longer days of Summer, what a wonderful backdrop of stunning colour Autumn provides us with. I thought I would just show a few more pics to remind us.  These photos were all taken at Dartington Gardens, which is only a twenty minute drive away from where I live. The gardens there look wonderful at any time of the year...

For my Sunday Solace feature today, I thought I would bring you some inspirational quotes - quotes that I have always loved. I do hope you will enjoy them.....

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt by the heart." (Helen Keller)

"Keep your face always towards the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you." (Walt Whitman).

"What we think, we become."  (Buddha).

"It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light." (Aristotle Onassis).

"Try to be a rainbow in somebody's cloud."  (Maya Angelou).

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." (Aesop)

Just in case you're interested, my Featured Post (click on the link on the right hand sidebar of this Post) now takes us up the beautiful River Dart to the Summer residence of Agatha Christie, the famous crime writer. I think you will enjoy this one. There are some lovely photos of heavenly Devon!

Well, it's time for me to leave you once again. I hope all is well with you and that you have a good week ahead.

Always a joy to stop by and take in your post. Today's was really inspirational and the photos were lovely. It has been strange weather here in North Carolina with temps one day in the 70's and then a low of 27 with daytime temps in the 50's and then back to the 70's. I am sure it will settle down soon. It is such a brighter world since I had my right eye operated on and have an artificial lens that now gives me 20/20 in that eye and I can hardly wait for the other one to be fixed as well on December 23rd. Truly Miraculous. Take care and know you are forever on my mind and in my heart. Hugs,
Odie

Thank you my friend Odie - for always popping over and being so supportive. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that your vision is so much better. I can image that this would be a miracle indeed. Have a good week over there. Those temps are really mind-boggling!

The gardens are pretty, even as the leaves drop, and I love the big clock at the top of the building. I'm trying to make short drives here and there, always with my camera, hoping to capture interesting and beautiful things. Today is cool and crisp so far-but, nice enough to get out for an adventure. I've seen the quote "Keep your face always toward the sunshine", and it's true. If you look up at it, a smile just naturally appears on your face, and the shadows disappear! Thank you Thisisme for a lovely post, and have a wonderful day! Love the little one in the rain coat. Made me think of Eli when he was little. ♥

Hi Suzanne. That was such a lovely comment, and, yes, we have to turn our faces to the sun. That's good that you are taking your camera out with you. I love taking photos. Yes, I know what you mean about Eli. Hope your week goes well my friend ❤️

My little mother has the quote about looking to the sunshine on her sitting room walls, she finds it quite inspirational when she is feeling a little down.
Your early winter photos are lovely, I enjoy all the seasons for different reasons but have to admit to not liking the cold of winter.Enjoy your week.

Well, that was quite the coincidence about your little mother having that quote on her wall, Diana! Every time I read, little mother, it makes me smile. Nice to see you here today.
