Sunday Snaps ....

Here I am again with another edition of Sunday Snaps. Something a little different today, as I took these photos during this past week whilst out for a walk with a friend.

I thought you might enjoy them, as it is so typical of a Devon village. This little village is about 35 minutes from where I live, and is called Cockington.

Visitors to this pretty village find themselves transported to a magical land of times gone by. You could almost think that you were on the set of  Midsomer Murders or an Agatha Christie novel! Narrow winding lanes open out onto beautiful chocolate box cottages, old English gardens and thatched gift shops.

This photo shows  Cockington Forge which is one of the most photographed buildings in the country !  The forge dates back to the 14th century. Just before I was born then!!!  Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the stunning Norman Church which dates back to 1086! If you wanted to get married in the Church, there is only a waiting list of four years!!

Here is the pretty little tea shop, selling the obligatory Devon Cream Teas with delicious Devon clotted cream and locally produced jam.

The little ducks must have thought we were going to feed them, because as we approached the lake, they all started paddling towards us!

This last photo is of the cricket pavilion. The cricket ground provides the venue for many open air events throughout the year, one of which is the annual Last Night Of The Proms, which attracts thousands of people and raises funds for many local charities.

Visitors can also spend a lazy summer afternoon watching the local cricket teams battle it out.

I do hope you have enjoyed your visit to this pretty little Devon village. Has it made you want to visit me in my little corner of the world ?!

See you again soon my friends.
