Sunday Snaps!

Hello everyone.  It's your little friend, thisisme, once again popping in to say Hi, and to hope that things are going well wherever you might be.

We have been blessed with glorious weather this past week and, oh my, what a difference it makes.  The family are here from France (and will be for another week), so it's lovely to have some warm sunshine for them.

Well, as most of you know, the local elections were held on Thursday, and on Friday morning, we drove up for the Count.  It always is a really nerve racking process, watching all the votes being counted, and seeing the opponents' piles mounting up.  The turnout was SO low - unbelievable really.  In our constituency, only just over 27% of people bothered to turn out to vote.  Can you believe that?!  This Local Election purely concentrated on our local County of Devon, so, really, it is almost as important as a General Election.

I guess this really does reinforce peoples' total apathy towards politicians at the moment.  Strangely enough, the people who will complain the loudest should things go wrong, will be those very people who didn't bother to register their vote.  It was lovely this time with Emma and Eleanor being here, because they were actually able to come along and follow the whole process.  Here we are, just before we left home.

My facebook friends know that hubby was re-elected to serve again for another four years.  He gained just over 40% of the vote - so relief all round, I can tell you!!  His Party also retained control of Devon County Council, so he will still remain on the Cabinet as well.  I had thought that, at age 66 and 69, we would be having lots of holidays and spending time together, but it hasn't worked out like that, as this really is a full time post, including evenings.  Still, at least he is happy.  He has always been a workaholic and would be so miserable, I think, if he didn't have the work to do.

With the sunshine of the past week, the garden really has come on all of a sudden, and it's lovely to see all the flowers and colour appearing everywhere - at long, long last!  Shall I bore you with a few more garden photos?!

I still think he looks as if he is talking on his mobile phone!
See my little friend in the background, enjoying the sunshine?!
