EEEEEK! I've Won!!

First of all thanks to the lovely Carol, who put on such an amazing party for us yesterday.. It really was terrific fun, and I think it would be lovely to do it all over again!!  Thanks Carol, for all the hard work that you obviously put into making it such a success, and we all wish you lots of luck with your book sales.

The results of The Mini Skirts Competition:

Results

In third place - Contestant # 2 Bouncin' Barb

In second place - Contestant #19 Darlene

And in first place by a rather large majority ... it must have been the promise of all those cream teas!
Contestant #10 Thisisme.
Well, what a hoot, that's all I can say! (Oh, and Eeeeek!!)

If a 64 year old grandmother can win a Mini Skirt Competition, then there's hope for the world!!

Once again, thank you to all my lovely Followers - I couldn't have done it without you.
I would also like to thank my daughter for taking the photo, the postman, the lady from the corner shop, the chimney sweep..... Oh, sorry, I'm getting a bit carried away now.  Well, I've never actually won anything before, so let me have my little 15 minutes of fame! LOL!

Congratulations to my awesome friend Bouncin'Barb, and my new friend, Darlene, and all those who took part are winners in my eyes. (But I've got the crown! Hee Hee!!).

Best Gams in South Hams! You had a leg up on the competition, Thisisme! In fact, TWO legs! I knew you had the grass roots support to get elected! Congratulations! Please remember the official rules. If, for any reason, you are unable to complete your year-long reign, the title goes to the runner-up!

As you might have noticed in my comment in Carol's garden, I discovered the butler on the floor of the library with a knife in his back. I finally solved the mystery. Mrs. Peacock did it!

Have a terrific weekend, dear Thisisme!

This...I knew you were going to win hands down. You are one awesome, hot looking grandma in a mini skirt! It was such fun wasn't it? I made a couple new friends and won Carol's book too. That makes me more excited since I couldn't buy it. Can't wait to read it. We all know how funny Carol is ANYWAY! Congratulations #1, with love from #3.

Dear Thisisme, "You're Number 1! You're Number 1!" Congratulations! That Carol sure knows how to throw a party! Will you be doing any touring as the official Mini Skirt Champion? It's great to finally meet you! I've been secretly stalking you and Desiree and the others as you leave comments back and forth on Carol's blog. But, now my secret is out, and I will just laugh openly and heartily as you all banter about with your comments! I'm looking forward to following you!
Almost Number 1, but not quite, Number 2!

Great Legs!!!! Wow congratulations!

Southhamsdarling said...

Teresa - you are very kind to say that! I certainly won't be wearing it every day. My legs are well and truly hidden again now, and the dress has gone back in the cupboard for another 40 years. LOL!

Belle - what do you mean, you THOUGHT I might win??!! Hee Hee! Yes, it was great fun at the party, and I agree, Carol must have put so much work into it all for us.

Linda - yes, I think it was the retro outfit that did it! Funny thing is, I haven't got long legs, as I'm only 5 ft 2" !!

Chatty - thank you my friend. Yes, it was great fun over at the party on Friday.

Sush - thank you my dear friend, and thank you for your vote. I am thrilled that you won the best joke contest, so we all got a prize. It's a win-win situation! Hugs.

What a marvellous acceptance speech you gave, Diane! I have tears streaming down my cheeks...the postman, the lady from the corner shop, the chimney sweep (are you certain you didn't leave anyone else out? Oh, yes! What about Prince Harry! Remember you and that mean old bat, Mrs Grundy, had words about your relationship with him?

As Carol says, we all think you should include your prize-winning photo on your blog header from now on! Fame such as yours needs to be captured for all time, enshrined in those lofty annals of history and recorded in the Guinness Book of Records! You've set a new benchmark, a new precedent for all women of a certain age. "That very nice lady from Devon, you know, the one who won a mini skirt competition at the age of 64, beating all the other, far younger contestants..." I can hear this conversation doing the rounds for a long, long time to come!

How is your hubby handling all this fame? Has he hidden in your garden shed, or is he walking taller?

Southhamsdarling said...

A Daft Scots Lass - well, thank you so much. How lovely of you to pop over to my blog. Great to see you here.

Raindrops and Daisies - thank you so much Fiona. Yes, I am still glowing after my win!

Desiree - oh my, you have made me smile this early evening here in England. I'm supposed to be starting the evening meal (it's almost 6 p.m. now), but this is much more fun!! Oh my goodness, how could I have forgotten Prince Harry?!! Yes, that old Mother Grundy made very disparaging remarks about my relationship with him, didn't SHE?! I'm still not convinced my friend, and you know what I'm talking about!! I really would love to know though!Hubby is being his usual underwhelmed self about the whole thing!! Hee Hee!!
Yes, I think you're right, I should definitely get an entry into The Guinness Book of Records. Thanks for being such a fun bloggy friend! x

Desiree said...

OK, Diane! You win. It was I, but hush. I had a little bit of fun all of my own. Thank you for playing along so convincingly.

Southhamsdarling said...

Desiree - you little minx you. Carol us obviously leading you into bad habits, fooling us all like that. But it was funny, wasn't it?! Old (or should I say, the REAL
Mother Grundy was such a laugh!!). Thank you for telling me though. Your secret is safe with me, x
