Making Of The Apple Juice And A Birthday Wish

It's that time of the year again when hubby is busy picking blackberries  and apples from the garden.  I really can't believe just how many of both fruits we have harvested this year.

Several years ago, hubby decided to buy a small press, as so many apples were going to waste, and, this way, we  have delicious apple juice for many months to come.  This is our small Press -
First of all, the apples are taken out of the freezer to thaw out, which takes about four hours - it is important not to let the apples get too soft at this stage, otherwise it doesn't work.
The  apples are then put into the Press -

The pressing process then begins -

The lovely apple juice starts to flow -

This is what we are left with (which is called the cake) - which will now go onto the compost heap at the bottom of the garden, preferably with a lid, because the wasps get very interested in it, especially at this time of the year!

The apple juice is then filtered -

And here we have the finished product! Voila!

Now this really is PURE apple juice.  I can't tell you just how good it tasted.  We put the juice into juice cartons and then any surplus can be frozen for up to, say, three months.  CHEERS!

I really love the following two quotes, and I hope you enjoy them too.  I firmly believe in these words and  try to live my life accordingly.  My dear mum always used to say "As Ye Sow, So Shall Ye Reap" and I think this is so very true.

“Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices no more easily made. And give, give in any way you can, of whatever you posses. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than for how it is shared and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace.”  Quote by Kent Nerburn.

Finally today, I would just like to wish my dear Japanese friend, Orchid, a very happy birthday today.  If you haven't visited her before, I'm sure she would be thrilled if you popped over to say hallo.  She really is a very sweet lady.  I woke up early this morning, in order to make Orchid this little cake.  Happy Birthday sweet friend!

Sending hugs to all my bloggy friends today.

Orchid is a dear sweetheart, isn't she! I hope she has a lovely birthday.

That is great with the apple juice. I bet the grandkids love it. :)

That juice looks good enough to drink, Thisisme! :) My mouth is puckering and I'm salivating just by looking at it. Making your own fresh juice is so much better than store bought, isn't it? We have an orange tree and a lime tree and squeeze and freeze juice at the end of every growing season. I appreciate those affirmations. Wiser words were never written. The more you give the more abundance comes your way. Happy Monday to you, dear friend!

Oh, My Dear Lady!!!
First of all, I'm SO GRATEFUL for the wonderful birthday cake from you♡♡♡ My gooness,I never expect that I could get one from anyone♪♪♪
How sweet it looks, I love these lovely roses very much and the way candles are surrounding roses.
No cake today expect your lovely one. Today happened to be the Aged People's Day in Japan. And I spent almost all day at his old people's home. He looked fine and smiled at me when he saw me. That's what all I needed.
Hubby and I got really interested and enjoyed how your juice are made. Wow, lots of work to do and we admire both of you for the work. It is worth it,isn't it♪♪♪

I LOVE the saying your mother said. "As Ye Sow, So Shall Ye Reap" is more biblical with the word "ye" than the text box, which I loved. And thank you for sharing the quotations as well.

Many, many thanks to you, Orchid*

Also,I truly appreciate all the good wishes for me written by your friends, thank you SO MUCH.

So far the apple trees we planted in Spain are not old enough to produce a crop worth pressing but we can beat the world on tomatoes. I never knew I could be frightened by the sight of a glut of tomatoes in our vegetable garden. We found it almost impossible to keep up with the ripening fruit. Vast amounts of Roasted Tomato Soup was cooked and eaten hot and drank cold with ice [delicious]. We gave tomatoes away to our holiday apartment guests, to our electrician, to the guys who come to look after the pool - no visitor was safe!

What a fantastic idea and lucky you to have wonderful fresh juice to drink each morning.

I love the quote about being gentle with yourself.

Have a good week

Rather oddly, although I enjoy eating fresh apples I have never enjoyed drinking apple juice. But perhaps the difference lies in how freshly pressed it is? The quotes you have shared here are very wise and true.

Happy Birthday, Orchid! I hope you had a truly wonderful day. Diane outdid herself with that beautiful cake!

What an interesting post. I used to live in Winchester, VA which was famous for its apples. We had a contraption to chop the apples for applesauce. My BFF and her family always makes apple butter. But you are the first person I know who makes apple juice. I bet it's delicious!
