I so love the fashion from the 60s, so classy and lovely! Have a nice weekend Diane!

Claudia - My goodness my friend, you're on the ball again today with your comments!! Only just posted about a minute ago! Let's hope this weather holds for over the weekend.

I'm way too young to remember the 60s, Thisisme! (LOL) That image of Twiggy reminds me how the standard of beauty fluctuates over time. Models like Twiggy who were ultra petite, thin as a rail, and rather anemic looking were "in" back then. For a while tanned, athletic body types were in fashion. Today, Rubenesque, plus-size models are in style. Those Vespa scooters were much more common in England than here in the states, I do believe. I don't remember seeing many of them when I was growing up. I hope you're feeling better by the hour, dear friend. Have a safe and happy weekend. Gawgus and Alfred will soon be visiting!

Dear Lady,
oh, I really loved Twiggy when I was little, hehe. And surprised me to know you had TV Guide in 60's. Or only I don't know.
Yes, we all wish you feel better and marvelous, relaxing weekend.
Blessing to my sweet lady♡♡♡
Hugs to you, Orchid*

Orchid - thank you so much for your sweet comments - I hope all is well with you and that you enjoy the weekend. Sending you blessings and hugs.

Glenda - so glad you enjoyed the pics today. Yes, it really was such a 'cool' era.

I am a bit young for these memories, but they are fun none the less.

The colors were so vibrant! I like that some of them have come back into style.

vintch - my pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the images and can appreciate them, even at such a young age. Hee Hee!!

Skippy - How wonderful to be 'too young...!!". Wish I could step back 20 years! No, I don't mean that, as I wouldn't have my gorgeous grandchildren! Hope you all have a lovely weekend across the pond my friend. Hugs.

All these photos brought back memories. I had glasses like that too! I loved the fashions of the sixties. I well remember Twiggy but didn't want to look like her. I wanted to look like Yvette Mimieux, an American actress. She was curvy. I only remember the Vespa from movies of the time where the actors were off in Europe. You can rent scooters like that here in my hometown in the summer.

I wore glasses almost like those, and mine were baby blue! Great little trip down Memory Lane! With my memory, it's a wonder I can remember any of it!

Oh, I remember all those things. I loved Twiggy. I think my mom had glasses like those. Have a wonderful weekend.

Chatty Crone said...

I had glasses like that in 5th grade - white ones - can't believe it.

Belle - hi there! Glad the images brought back memories for you today. The 60's really were quite iconic, weren't they?! Have a good weekend my friend.

Darlene - I'm sure you're not really old enough to remember any of this! Hee Hee!!

Grammy Goodwill - Yes, I loved Twiggy too. She is still doing very well over here now, and she is in her early 60's.

Southhamsdarling said...

Chatty Crone - it seems that several of us had glasses like that. We were obviously at the cutting edge of fashion. LOL!!

Olive said...

I do not remember much of the 60's but I had a wonderful patient in the 1990's who had really old kitten glasses with rhinestones and I tried and tried to talk her out of them to no avail.

Suzanne said...

You went right up my alley! The mod clothes, and we loved 'Twiggy'. My brother took subscriptions and delivered the TV Guide in the early 60's. His orders would come to our house, and he and I would deliver them to the neighborhood, just like throwing the evening paper. I lived by the TV Guide, and we loved Lucille Ball! This was great Thisisme! You struck gold!

What do I remember of the 60's well I remember walking on the fence out the front of our house and calling my dad "bay" and being sent to school on a public holiday but then I was only a kid in the 60's......lol

BECKY said...

I was right there with you! So funny to see the pictures again. I had the exact same pointy dark framed glasses!! I was "chubby" in the wrong era....Twiggy? Puh-lease!
Thanks for the memories!

Southhamsdarling said...

Olive - oh, those glasses with the rhinestones sound wonderful. What a pity the old lady wouldn't let you have them! I wondered what happened to them.

Susan - hi there. I'm so glad that his post revived all those memories for you. Lucille Ball was just so funny, wasn't she?! Fancy you and your brother delivering that TV guide to households. We're obviously in the same era my friend!

Jo=Anne Rambling - your comment made me smile! Lucky you, only being a child in the 60's! I was a teenager!

Becky - hi there. Lovely to see you here today. Another one that had the pointed glasses! Hee Hee!! Glad it brought back some memories for you today.

Lovely photos from the 60's - so colorful. I was born late 60's so can't say I remember much of it. Have only seen photos and such. Hope your lovely weather will continue there for you :) Here it's lashing, but it's alright am not planning to go out much today anyways. Enjoy your Weekend my friend!

Southhamsdarling said...

Eva - thank you! Oh no, I can't believe you have lashing rain over there. What a bummer with it being the weekend and you not having to work! It is really baking here, and forecast to be the same for the next few days. (Sorry, you probably don't want to know that, do you?! Hee Hee!).

I'm happy that you've finally got some nice and sunny weather there :) I don't really care about the weather, there's so many things I can do indoors today:)

I do remember these things even though I was younger. The ones that jump out are Twiggy, the polaroid camera (had a bunch of those) and those stupid kerchiefs for your hair. Oh I hated wearing those and my mother made me! Great post and wonderful memories.

Southhamsdarling said...

Eva = I'm glad you still find things to do, even inn the rain. Thanks for popping back again!

Bouncin'Barb - Thank you for your good comment. You're obviously catching up on all your posts! Thank you for popping over.

This was such a refreshing post my friend. I was a teenager in the mid sixties and remember all the examples you had. Never knew I could get so interested in anything like Pinterest. Hope you are having a great weekend.

That 1960's Bucket Bag is gorgeous! I would love one of those right now. isn't it wonderful how fashion goes around in circles!

Thanks so very much for linking up to my Pinning and Singing Pinterest Party! I am so thrilled that you joined in.

Best wishes and happy pinning!

Natasha - I used to have one of those bucket bags back in the 1960's, and I really loved it even then. How I wished that I had kept it! LOL! I tell my daughters about things, and they always say, "oh mum, why didn't you keep it!" Because I didn't have room, that's why and because when you are living in an era, you never think that these things are going to come back in, say, 30 or 40 years!!!
