Sunday Snaps

Happy weekend everyone!  Well, I have actually been having some fun with my Sunday Snaps feature this week.  In the past, I have used Picnik for editing my photos.  A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from them to say that their service would be ending in April (although I think they might be putting something else in its place).

However, thanks to the lovely Olive from Olive Out, I have discovered PhotoScape.  It would be well worth you popping over to say hallo.  Olive  has a lovely blog and she also takes some stunning photographs.

Well, what can I say?! It is so much better than Picnik.  Everything is there in the one place, and you have so many different options to play around with.  Very easy too - believe me, if I can do it, then anyone can do it.

So here are a few photos that I have been playing around with this week.  Quite impressive, wouldn't you say?!

This is daughter number 2 with Ruby, taken in May 2010, when Ruby was 5 months old.

This is Ruby and I taken on my birthday last year.

This time with Eli on my birthday last year

Eli again - this time having a picnic with his little girlfriend!

This is the original of the picnic photo.  I just love this one, because, to me, they really do look like an old married couple having an argument!! To my mind, Eli is saying "there's no way that you're getting your hand on my biscuit!"

This is number 1 granddaughter with Alfred.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the editing of the photos today.  Perhaps it will encourage you to edit some of your own photos using PhotoScape (and, NO, I haven't been paid to say that!!).

Just remembered that I went to see The Descendants the other evening, starring George Clooney.  It has had very good write-ups, and I see that he is in line for an Oscar for his performance.  Well, all I can see is that my friend and I thought that it was something and nothing.  Really slow and I honestly couldn't recommend it to you at all.  For the life of me, I can't see why he should get an Oscar for that performance.  But, hey, that's just my opinion.  You might see it and think that it was brilliant!!

Now then, I know that a lot of my American friends will be getting really excited today as, guess what, YES, it's the SuperBowl this evening.  I can still remember this time last year, when I was amazed at all the food that was being prepared whilst you were watching this particular event.  Last year, for the first time, they showed it live on television here in England, and I did try very hard to watch it, but, because of the time difference, I only saw the beginning.  It certainly looked like quite a spectacle though.  From what I've been hearing, the adverts can be the best bit of the whole show!!  Anyway, whether you're supporting The Patriots or The Giants (see, I've been finding out about these things!), I hope you have a good game.  If you would like to read the post that I wrote about SuperBowl 2011, you can find it here.http://southhamsdarling.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-did-try.html

Enjoy your week my bloggy friends, and watch out for more love in my next post.

I've just told my daughter about Photoscape since she was sad that Piknik was ending. Your photos turned out beautifully. Isn't it amazing what we can do now with a little camera and a little computer?

I will be a little happy when the Super bowl is over. I know my husband is going to enjoy watching it, though.

I love the effects you've experimented with here, Diane! You are always so adventurous and this is very inspiring. I'm not sure I'll be doing this, but I do love the clever effects you chose and think each of your pictures looks beautiful! In regard to the your movie review, we often feel that way ourselves. Highly rated movies often disappoint whilst others that are passed over by the media can be pleasantly surprising and most enjoyable. Perhaps it has to do with marketing and big budgets ;)

Hallo, dear Thisisme! Your love always comes shining through in your posts and this one is something special because you display all these wonderful family pictures including some of you. The antique effects are quite impressive. Alfred looks a bit bored with Halloween, doesn't he? At least Ellie's lavish costume didn't get him all rattled like it would some dogs. My Toto is a funny girl. At Halloween she never gets frightened or provoked by all the monsters and witches that come to our door for trick-or-treat. She actually looks forward to it. Yet, if she sees a repairman or a UPS man she goes wild and becomes aggressive! I suppose she's one of those rare females who doesn't like a man in uniform! (LOL) Thank you very much for warming our hearts with your pictures and words. dear friend Thisisme, and have a super Sunday!

Your using it heart-shape for the picture with Rubby is SO LOVELY and warmed my heart. I wish I had sweet piccture like yours to do it.

I will go check out Photoscape tommorow! I do love the look of your pictures. I've always liked the old fashioned way of showing photos. I think I might watch the Super Bowl with Christine's family just for fun. I don't really know the teams, but we do have a good time. My son-in-law is always rooting for someone so I will be on his team's side. Have a lovely day, dear friend.

love your photo editing.
I saw the Descendants myself this past week and I didn't mind it. I thought the actress who played the elder daughter was wonderful but as for George, well. Wouldn't bother to see it again but it satisfied some curiosity

Dear Diane, lovely snaps you're sharing with us today! Unfortunately I couldn't download the software, only compatible with Windows [dang] and I am on a MAC. But I also use picasa a lot for my photo editing, and sometimes PS Elements. It's fun to experiment don't you think?
The Six Nations Rugby tournament starts today ^_^ Ireland vs Wales me thinks. I always love watching this game, it's a quick sport when things happen fast.
Have a lovely Sunday my friend!

Diane your talents with photography is amazing and I know you must be having so much fun creating those wonderful images.
Believe it or not until you mentioned who was playing in the Superbowl I did not know what teams were playing. That is how much I am excited about it. I get more out of the commercials than I do out of the actual game.
It has been a rainy weekend here in NC and we really did need the rain as so many of our lakes are too low which means a water shortage come spring and lawn watering time. We have had so many lovely days that I don't think too many people minded a little rain.
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and a great week ahead.
Hugs,
Odie

oops meant to say that I saw the movie too and like you was not impressed
would advise people to wait until it comes out on dvd rather than go to the cinema.

However, Mr. Clooney is delish!!!!!

I've enjoyed Photoscape for awhile now. Play with their collages and slide shows, but give yourself some time...you'll probably have so much fun you will lose tract of how long you sit there!

Dear Diane, you just saved my life! I have been having so much difficulty editing my photos, dealing with all kinds of complicating hoops to jump through! It took me hours to get a single post finished because I kept getting this notification: you don't have permission!" So I finally figured it out but I'm ready to launch my entire computer out into the back yard and smash it with a hammer! So thank you, dear friend! For sharing photoscape. I plan to bookmark it and use it the next time.

These pictures are so much fun to see. I wish I were brave enough to try a program. Picnik is disappearing before I even tried it! I am so impressed that you know about the Super Bowl. I want to watch it just because I love football, and this will be it for another year. I'm not a fan of professional football so I don't care who wins. This year some of the ads have already been shown, which doesn't make sense to me.
Have a great week.

Wonderful pictures you posted This. Looks like fun. Maybe sometime I will try playing with mine but organizing them is a task that I must tend to in the near future. They are all over the place. What I love about the first picture believe it or not is Ruby's tiny little foot sticking out. I love babies feet. They are the cutest darn things to play with! Beautiful family! Hugs my awesome friend. Go Giants

Diane, thanks bunches for the shout out. The images are wonderful and you are doing edits I have not discovered yet. Love those scrolls. Do put Bloom on any inside shots as it just brightens them up and Whitebalance takes yellow lamp light out. I love that. hugs, olive
