Happy Birthday Eli!

Can you believe that my gorgeous little grandson is four years old today?!  I certainly can't. Just where have those four years gone?  It really is quite frightening how quickly the time is passing by.  Has it always been so, or is it just that the general pace of life is just so much more frantic these days?

Whilst I am grateful to be in the stage of life that I am at the moment, a stage which I am enjoying enormously, with all the freedom it brings, with not having to get up with the alarm clock to go to work each morning, and no more running around after the children (!) or worrying what they were getting up to (!), I certainly don't like the thought that most of my life is now behind me :(  Oh dear, now that's not a very uplifting thought to be boring you with on this Saturday, is it?!

I shall just carry on being silly, slapping the make up on to make sure that I can look as good as I possibly can, and generally trying to bring a smile to peoples' faces.
Talking about 'smiles', I saw this on a friend's facebook page a couple of days ago and thought at the time, how true it is, so I thought I would share it with you.

Wonders why people cannot be kind to one another? Is it really that hard to share a smile? A hello? How are you? Maybe a hug for those in need of their spirits being up lifted. Maybe even a prayer said in silence. Be the difference in someone's life today! You could change their whole world! Spread a little love it can't hurt. Blessings and don't forget you might be someone's sunshine.:)

Meanwhile, here are a couple of photos of my little boy, taken this week, as he was trying on his new school uniform.  Although he is only four today, he starts big school in September! Far too young in my opinion.  Bless!!  They always used to start school in the Term nearest to their fifth birthday but, for some reason, they now only have one intake a year.  Why is that I wonder.  Obviously, Eli is going to be the youngest in his class, whereas when Ruby starts school, she will be the oldest, as she will be almost five.  It doesn't make sense to me.  Hey ho! What do I know?!

He did go up to have a look around his new 'big' school last week.  When they arrived back home, he said to his mummy, "it's very nice, but I think I'll just carry on going to pre-school."  Bless!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.  I'm delighted to say that I am feeling a little less tired and weak with every passing day now, so I'm sure I will soon be back to normal.  Whatever 'normal' is!!

Happy Birthday Eli!!! You are a handsome young man.

I agree with you, four is too young to start school. My son (now ten), started school at 4.5 - if anything it hindered him in many ways. It was a good thing the following year we had a wonderful teacher who in her honest opinion thought he really wasn't ready to move up a year, and she recommended he re-do that year all over again. Which he did. But I just can't help feel that I wish he had stayed home that extra year.

I love your friends thoughts from their Facebook page. I agree totally!

Also glad to hear you're feeling better. May you continue to go from strength to strength.

Wishing you a super duper weekend!

Happy Birthday to Eli - He is so cute. That's very early to start school I agree.
I loved the quote. It should really be very easy to be nice to one another. It doesn't cost anything to say hello or just show that you care.
Am happy to hear that you're feeling better and better. Have a lovely Saturday my friend...the sun is looking down at us at the moment here...hopefully she'll stay a bit longer. Meeting up with an old friend later this afternoon, to start off my holiday. Decided to just Chill today. Big hugs to you

happy birthday to your Grandson. He is such a cutie.
It does seem young to be starting school. Kids here start after they turn 5 and they have 4 intakes a year (I think) at most public schools

What a tall, handsome boy he is! I do hope this birthday brings a year full of happiness and prosperity to him. He will do so well in school- so cute what he said!

I sometimes think, too, that I've lived half my life and with that I feel kind of an urgency to get things accomplished I haven't yet. I'm so glad these years are good to you and that you are feeling better. You've been in my prayers!

Hallo, dear Thisisme, and happy birthday to that handsome lad Eli! Although he might feel apprehensive about starting a new adventure at big school I'm certain that he will soon adapt, make many friends and settle into a routine. My school district had no "kindergarten" and therefore I went straight to Grade 1 with no pre-schooling. What's more I was only 5 and one of the youngest in the first grade class. I am so thankful to read your last sentence in which you reveal that you are feeling a bit stronger every day. Bless! Have a delightful weekend, dear friend Thisisme!

He certainly was looking awesome in those pictures and before you know it he'll probably be dating. Yes time does move entirely too fast.
Glad to know you are doing better and getting on towards a complete recovery.
We had temps yesterday of 110 and a very bad thunderstorm last night that left many without power this morning. We were spared thank God. Today is supposed to be another with triple digits. Be sure to tell your precious grandson Happy Birthday for me. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
Hugs,
Odie

Hi Thisisme! Well, I'm glad to be a little higher on your comment list today...got an earlier start. Gosh, 4 yrs old, and starting school. We had kindergarten when I was young, and I started at 4 yrs because I knew my parents' names, my address, and, my date of birth. That was the entrance exam!

Eli is a living doll. And, he is very smart. He will do well, but we hate to give them up at his age. Happy Birthday to your sweetie and a good weekend to you my friend!♥

Hi I come to you from KC's blog and would like to follow you. I am a grandmother living in England too, but my eldest grandson is now 12 yrs old and I still remember like it was yesterday him being born and then starting school at 4 and yes it did seem too early.

He is such a handsome little man and I can image how much of a joy he is in your life.......

Love the bit you got of Facebook I have gotten a lot of great things and saying off Facebook......

At first I thought who starts school in September but then I thought not all countries have a school year from January to December like we do.

what a cutie! he looks adorable in his pictures. here, you have to be 5 before August 1 (in some places it might be Sept 1) before you can go to kindegarten. otherwise, you're still in pre-school. school usually starts the middle of August around here and out late-May for summer break.

happy birthday to Eli!

The older I get, the faster time flies by. I've realized things go faster when we get over the hill and begin racing down the other side. hahaha
