Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening to you - depending on where in the world you are reading this! It's funny to think that when I am setting off to bed, some of you are just about to have your evening meal, and some of you may be just waking up, and some of you may even be a day ahead! (Jo-Anne, I'm talking about you!!).
Autumn is gradually creeping in, and I for one won't really be sad to say goodbye to the summer that never was! At least now, I don't have to hope for a lovely warm sunny day anymore, only to be greeted by, yes, you've guessed it, more rain!!
For the last few evenings, we have made up a log fire. I love the smell, and it makes everything seem so warm and cosy. We have so many trees in the garden that we are never going to run out of wood or logs. Already the leaves are starting to fall from the trees a little. Autumn really is a lovely season when all the leaves change colour and we are reminded of God's beautiful creation.
Latest saying from Eli - "I do try to be good mummy, but my brain is telling me to be naughty." I really thought that one was priceless! Almost as good as when Eleanor was 5 years old, and hubby picked her up from Nursery. As they were walking to the car, she piped up and said "oh look Papa, that man over there has got old hair like you.!"
I urge anyone with young grandchildren (or even children, I guess) to write these little sayings down in a book, because they can easily be forgotten, and they really are so sweet.
Don't forget that if you prefer to follow blogs on facebook, you will find me there. Just search for Southhamsdarling and it will take you to my page. Press the 'like' button and my latest posts will always show up on your newsfeed. Voila!
Keep safe until we meet up again.

Hi Diane, it's afternoon for me right now. I love that wooden play house (?) in your garden. It all looks so nice at this time of year.
You are right, children say the funniest things. Eli's comment about his brain telling him to be naughty is a classic!
Have a lovely day Diane!
This is my favourite season, wonderful colour mix!
Dearest Diane,
Lovely comment from your precious Eli and Autumn pictures♡♡♡ Eli sure will have a wonderful future as he is already showing the brightness♬♬♬ I LOVE this season with yummy food and feeling the coolness. Haha, but right now a bit melancholic...
Have aa wonerful week, my dear friend.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
I heard a rumor fall was somewhere in the area, but so far, she's a no show for us.
I love your evocations of fall- especially the wood fire. Nothing lovelier than cozying up to one when the weather has a chill to it.
I had to laugh out loud at what Eli said, and your daughter. So funny!
Hallo, dear Thisisme! Every day as I finish dinner I think about you preparing for bed or perhaps snoozing away by that time. I then think of Belle just starting her afternoon. "Out of sync but never out of mind," would be one way of putting it.
I would love to sit by a cozy fire but with the mercury still reaching 90 every day in my part of the world a pleasant experience like that is still months away. Your property is beautiful during every season of the year. It breaks my heart that you were robbed of summer.
When I was age four my family moved to a new community and my mum took me across the street one day to meet a neighbor woman. The woman jokingly stated that she would like to marry me. Out of my young mouth came the candid but shockingly inappropriate words, "No, I want to marry somebody with a pretty face!" Have a wonderful Wednesday, dear friend Thisisme!
I record all nine of our grandchildrens' quips and give them to them on their 18th birthday. Your Eli is a smart one.
Well I am living in the next-day time zone! And also in a different season. Spring is alive in prep for a hot summer in just a few short week.
And yes, you should be collecting these funny sayings and keeping them - they always give a loving giggle when reread...
Gorgeous picture of your yard and yes I love the colors of the leaves as they change and you can appreciate God's color pallet when you see awesome displays in the woods. It is also a blessing to enjoy the cooler temperatures. Have a great rest of the week.
Hugs,
Odie
Autumn colours are lovely, but I much prefer spring and summer, even if wet, for the extra daylight hours.
Hi Thisisme! That's a most beautiful photo, and, I do see color on your trees! Autumn is wonderful, if you don't get too much rain, then you miss it. Love little Eli's confession, and, you have a good point. When Shawn gets a little more vocal, we'll have to write down his sayings. It's fun to record their voices so they can hear them later. So good to see you. Have a crisp Autumn week, see you soon. ♥
Eli is smart - isn't that what happens to us all?
I love autumn too, Diane. We have had a very warm September - almost like summer. But today I saw some golden leaves blowing in the wind off our tree. I bought two sweaters today in preparation for the cold.
My daughter keeps a book of her kid's funny sayings. I'll have to have her dig it out so I can post some of them. Eli spoke the truth. Sometimes our brains tell us to do something bad! God bless and enjoy your fire.
i love Autumn colors it's what i miss most about living in the south we have two seasons hot and hotter
Come Say HI
It is looking so autumnal in your garden already!
Hi Diane, yes autumn is creeping in, but I actually like this time of the year, when it's not raining I'd say. but the colours and all. Hope you're having a nice and relaxing evening. Hugs xx
Dear Diane,
Thank you so much for keeping our family in your prayers. I'm so thankful we are friends!
I can't help but smile at Eli's quote, which certainly is priceless! Good advice to jot them down, because you do tend to forget them.
As it just happens, I recently came across a note where I had jotted down something funny Jaiden said to me when he was five. He said, "Ahh, your hair smells beautiful like fresh jelly." Now I'm smiling all over again!
Goodnight, Sending love your way and I hope you have a good nights sleep. Blessings, Kerrie xoxo
