Sunday Snaps!

Wishing all my little bloggy friends a very happy weekend and a blessed Sunday!

Last evening, hubby and I went to the 90th birthday party of a friend of ours.  It was lovely evening, filled with friendship, love and laughter.  Joan really is an inspiration to us all.  The wonderful thing is, I have never heard any negativity from her in all the years that I have known her.  She is always full of joy, love and joie de vivre (I knew what this meant, but I actually looked up the true meaning and it says "to express a cheerful enjoyment of life.  An exultation of spirit".  I honestly never think of my friend as an 'old lady' because of her zest for life, of still learning new things and just making a person feel happy just by being with her.  Perhaps that is something that we should all aim for!

Of course, with getting older, I realize that your health is everything and if you haven't got that, then life is so, so much more difficult.  Joan still drives everywhere and enjoys her holidays abroad, so, in that, she is very blessed.  She still lives in her own home and loves to tend her garden.  The one thing she doesn't like, is having her photograph taken, so I had to do some persuading to get this one!

The full moon has been amazing in the sky this week.  I don't know whether anyone else has noticed it.  We are fortunate to be surrounded by fields and no other lights at all, and it really has been magnificent just hanging in the sky!

Here are a couple of photos taken of Eli and Ruby in the garden this week.  Whilst Eli was at school, Ruby was helping me plant up some planters, from the seeds that we have grown on in the greenhouse, and she was taking the whole thing very seriously indeed.

Here is Ruby having some refreshment after all her hard work.

Well, I think that's about it for now.  I see that I have gained a couple of new Followers, so I would like to give you a warm welcome and I look forward to getting to know you.  For all my 'old faithfuls' (!) I would just like to thank you once again for all the lovely comments that you always leave for me.  On my last post, some of the comments were really long and I do appreciate them all, and all the love that you give me.  Sending HUGS to you all and I hope the week ahead will be a good one.

Dearest Diane,
Wow, your friend had "90th birthday party" ☆☆☆ How wonderful and reading what you wrote, her attitude for life must be the key for longevity. I admire her having zest for life (^_^)彡☆ Considering her healthy condition, my father is 88 years old now and ... :)))

Hallo, dear Thisisme, and happy birthday to wonderful Joan. 90 is the new 40 and Joan is a fine looking lady. She seems to have the same philosophy as 101 year old Margaret Schneider, and that is to roll with the punches, not letting anything or anyone keep her down for long, to celebrate life every day, give more than receive, and spread joy and happiness to others.

Mrs. Shady and I were walking Toto two nights ago and took time to gaze at the full moon which bathed our property in light.

It's so nice to see your green grass and lovely garden and you and the children out enjoying yourselves in it. I wonder if the kids realize they are stars of your blog, known and loved by people around the world. (I'm certain that Alfred already knows.) Happy Sunday to you, dear friend Thisisime, and have a safe and happy week ahead!

Diane, your friend really look so cool and elegant. I really like her attitude for life and reading your post make me feel so much better as I have a home alone mum, too. Yes, my mum loves to tend to her garden and flowers and she is always positive about life. Me, an impatient youngster, truly have a lot to learn. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Diane

It's great to see your friend being in such great shape, an elegant woman indeed.

Lovely pictures of Ruby and Eli working in the garden.

It's nice to finally have some sunny weather, even though there's a breeze it's not as bad as before.
Enjoy your Sunday !

What a lovely friend you have and it is so wonderful to know that she is so active and enjoying life. Made me think of my dear Aunt Katie who also loved life and was also a positive influence to all that visited her. The pictures of your beautiful grandchildren brighten my day every time I see them. It is such a joy to watch them grow. Enjoy the beautiful weather while you can.
Hugs,
Odie

Joan is a beautiful woman, and her inner beauty and the light in her spirit truly shines forth. What a wonderful gift to have her in your life!

Eli and Ruby are growing so quickly and what gorgeous children they are! I love how little Ruby so intently helped you with the planting. She's going to be like her grandma~

Hi Diane,

Firstly thank you for your friendship, love and concern. Your friend looks very good for her age!! Speaking of age, make the most of your young grandchildren, every age has special moments, but the 10/11 year olds here are causing much concern and heartache at the moment. Being a gran becomes more of a challenge. Having said that my 13yr old enjoyed his birthday, in spite of the bullies and I got lots of birthday hugs and "I love you's"

God Bless - Have a good week. Nita - Hugs for you

Your friend is so lovely! Tell her thanks for letting you take her photo to share with us. She does not look 90. That is for sure.

I love the gardening photos. You are creating so many wonderful memories for that sweet Ruby.

What a sweet little lady, and, congrats on her 90th Birthday. If I live to be 90 years, I will enjoy any gardens!

You had some great help with the lovely Ruby, and handsome Eli (love their names). The band 'Three Dog Night' from the late 1960's sang a song called "Eli's Comin!" You may have heard it. "Eli's comin, hide your heart girl, Eli's comin, you better hide your heart!" Well, your little Eli is so handsome, they'll be singing this song about him, lol!

So, good to see you-have a wonderful week Thisisme!

I hope if I make it to 90 I am like your friend...
Love the pillow next to Ruby...so you! And your garden has to be a magnet for all your dear grands. Talk about making memories!

We saw the full moon the other night and it took my breath away with its fullness and lovely color. I always marvel at our fortune to actually 'have' a moon.

Much love~
