Hi there everyone. Over here in the UK, I had never heard of the elf on the shelf before. However, daughter number one bought a little elf for Eli and Ruby this year. As you can see, daughter number 2 has been having great fun with placing Jingle around in different places.
It's quite funny, because Emma said that parents wake up in the middle of the night, realizing that they haven't moved the elf all ready for when their children wake up in the morning!
The trouble is, children are so bright these days and they're asking all sorts of clever questions about the little elf, so their mummy has to be on her toes with all the right answers! In the above photo, Eli said that Jingle must be very clever, as he had obviously gone to the cupboard to get mummy's sewing thread!
Hubby and I will be driving over to France on Friday, hoping that there will be no hold ups this time. We are going over there for Eleanor's 16th birthday. Gosh, a young lady. Where did all those years go?!
It will be lovely, because Alison is also coming with us. Eli & Ruby's daddy will be looking after them for the weekend. Only a flying visit, as we will be returning home on Monday.
I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well, and I'll see you again soon.

Hope you all have a wonderful time, no hold ups there or back.
I have never heard of "Elf on the shelf" .. Ah so it is French??
Hi Diane , cancel that remark about it being French ,, lol lol think it came out last year according to google.. It meant to be a special scout for Santa !
When Lily was having a sleepover we went shopping. She spotted a plush Elf on the Shelf and asked to have it. I said, but you have an elf already. She said, "Not like this one! The one we have is real and talks to Santa and tells on me. I want this one, it won't tell!" So nothing would have it of course and I bought one for her and one for her sister, (then went back and got one for Grace). In the car on the way home I overheard Lily talking to her elf, "We are gonna have sooooo much fun together and you won't tell on me! I just love you sooooo much, my sweet little elf!" Was a real memory maker day for me anyway, lol! Have a safe trip and give Eleanor my best birthday wishes and lots of love to Emma! xoxox
I bought Elf on the Shelf for our Granddaughter in Alaska. She just loves it - and running around the house and looking for it each morning.
Hallo and ho-ho-ho, dear Thisisme! It was so nice of Emma and Alison to put together this festive Elf on the Shelf surprise for the kids. I hope Elijah and Ruby obey the elf's wishes and remember to listen to mum (and dad) and be good.
Happy 16th birthday to Eleanor, a fine young woman who is set to conquer the world. I wish you and Alison a safe journey over to France and back. I'll be thinking about you this weekend. Say hello to Alfred for me.
Hugs and smooches to you, dear friend Thisisme!
Elf on the Shelf is big here, but only in the last 5 years or so. What fun your trip and Eleanor's party will be! Hoping you have good weather all the way~
Have wonderful trip. Kids grow up so quickly. Elf on the shelf is a lot of fun. your babies are smart, aren't they?
Oh how fun that must be for Eli aor her and Ruby. They probably open their eyes in the morning and immediately think of where the elf is! I miss having the grandkids at that age at Christmas. I'm so happy you are going with Alison to Paris on Friday. I'm sure she will just love getting away for a weekend. Exciting!! Hugs XX
Hi Thisisme, what a gorgeous display of Christmas on your blog! I just love your background.
Well,I don't know what the deal is about that elf. I'm just going to roll along, and hope it doesn't come my way. He looks a bit mischievous to me, haha! But, thank you for shedding a little light on his story.
Wow, Eleanor is turning 16! The time is flying my friend! She is such a lovely girl!
You be safe on your trip, and enjoy! See you soon! ♥
I like Elf on the shelf, although I've never heard about that. I kind of live in a mushroom cave, anyway. There are a lot of things I don't know about. Haha
Sweet 16 is such a magical age. Your lucky granddaughter.
I agree with Zuzanne's comments on the Elf.
Oh sweet 16 sigh!
I met my hubby late 16 and fell in love at 17. Engaged at 18.
Married him at 19.
First child at 21.
They say that the young ones are coming into that time zone.
I know a mother who had 7 children and she is now a very young attractive Grandmother . Her last daughter is the one who is getting married.
She is delighted the family.
So like the Elf . You soon learn fast.
Be safe.
I have never heard of the Elf on the shelf either, although there is an elf amongst our Christmas decorations. Enjoy your French weekend and travel safely. xx
Have a wonderful day enjoying the birthday. Sounds you have started your preparation for Christmas.
Myself yet to start...
