The Most Precious of Things ...

Hallo  everyone. Lovely to be here with you all again.

It's that time when someone not a million miles from here has a birthday coming up once again, which made me think about time.

As the years go by, we surely realize just how precious that commodity is. Time to enjoy our families, our friends and loved ones.  Time to enjoy the beauty of the world all around us. Time to enjoy all those simple things that can brighten our days, and mean so much.

I so believe this is true, about giving someone your time.  Actually taking the time to listen to what people have to say as well.

y

Talking about time made me think about clocks, which made me think of one of one of my favourite poems by W.H.Auden. I hope you will enjoy it too.

Stop All The Clocks.

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone.

Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message, He Is Dead.

Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

(How special to have someone love you with a depth of feeling like that)

I first came across that poem whilst watching the film Four Weddings And A Funeral, and I have loved it ever since.

See you again soon little Bloggies. Take care.

Hallo, dear Thisisme! My father constantly reminded me that "time waits for no man." I took his wisdom to heart and try to make every minute count. A healthy relationship with time is as important as any other type of relationship. I am a great believer in managing time, staying ahead of the game and challenging myself to "beat the clock." When it comes to friendship, I have always preached that "friends make time for friends."

I'll have to don the dunce cap this time because I can't imagine who in the world it is with a birthday coming up (on the 13th of April :)

I hope you and Alfred are both chipper today and feeling fine. Happy Wordy Wednesday to you, dear friend Thisisme!

I loved this post. And the poem is really good. Just where does the time go so quickly? I wrote a poem awhile back that I might have to post soon. It also has to do with time passing. And you lovely post today triggered my thought process that maybe I should share it with my bloggy friends.

Hi Shady! Yes, I think Alfred and I are both feeling a bit 'chipper' again now. Gosh, give that man a cream cake. He remembers birthdays. Gold star time me thinks dear Shadykins! I love that saying that your father used to say. You certainly always take time for your friends, and we are grateful for it.

Hi Denise. Best not to think along those lines I guess, and just be grateful for the time we do have together.. Yes, birthday in a couple of weeks :)

A lovely post but in a way a little chilling too. I guess time is really manufactured by humans and there really is no time BUT whatever it is, I notice my sunrise and sunset almost bumping into each other.

I loved that movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. I saw it many times.

What a beautiful header picture. You have such a lovely family.
Have a precious week and slow that time down. Ha

Hi Claudia. The photo was taken at EuroDisney. It was such a bitterly cold day! Not long after they moved to Paris. Always lovely to see you here b

Hallo Olive! Thank you for popping over. Hope you are well. Yes, I have actually managed to get out in the garden at long last. I've sorted out all the pots and planted up some pansies. :)

Thanks Anne. Yes, time marches relentlessly on, doesn't it?!!

When the day drags, I think of how fast the weeks are flying,
and I wonder where the years have gone.

What a great post my awesome friend! Time waits for no one is so true. I do love the pictures you've put up. Very appropriate. What a beautiful poem. I can say that I loved someone to that depth and was loved the same. It's hard to describe how blessed I was/am. Nothing ever compares. I am smiling as I write this! Thank you for that!! Hugs XX

HI Thisisme, just coming across the pond tonite from seeing Shady at the Dell!

Love all of your clocks and your messages about time. You know, I try to guide myself into spending more time listening and visiting with those I really care for. I do get wrapped up in just trying to get through a day and life as it deals situations out to me.

But, then I have to stop, and actually take the time to 'smell the roses', as the saying goes. Thank you for the reminder!

And,the best part of your post is that incredible photo of those three beautiful girls! You have such a lovely family, Thisisme!

Give Alfred a hug, hope he's feeling better. See you later. ♥
