Wishing We Had Thanksgiving ....

Hello....it's me....

Can you guess what I'm going to talk about today from the above picture?  Well, tomorrow in America, it's Thanksgiving - a day when families and friends come together ... to be THANKFUL, and I thought I would like to honour their tradition in my Post today.

Thanksgiving originated as a Harvest Festival and the very first Thanksgiving was held in 1621, when the Pilgrims celebrated their first Harvest in the New World. This feast lasted three days and was attended by 90 Native Americans and 50 Pilgrims. It's interesting to me that the Pilgrims set sail from Plymouth, which is my home City.  They set sail on the 6th September 1620 and landed in Massachusetts after an arduous two month journey. This small group of people became known as the Pilgrim Fathers, the founding fathers of America.

The commemoration stone on The historic Barbican here in Plymouth.

The Mayflower Steps.

I would like to finish by wishing ALL  my American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving and to say THANK YOU to them for being in my life. I have found the American people to be generous hearted, kind, thoughtful, caring, encouraging and supportive.

So my friends, enjoy the companionship and the feasting tomorrow. I will raise a glass to you all!

The Thanksgiving pics today are courtesy of Pinterest.

The following photo is of my two friends, Diane and Marcy, from Green Bay in Wisconsin, as they were preparing a Thanksgiving Feast for me when I was there in September, just so that I could have the experience! 😊

I have so much to be thankful for this year. My Rocky is healthy and happy, I had my right eye operated on the 16th with a new lens installed and now I can see things I could not before and that is the most wonderful feeling and on the 23rd of December my left eye will receive the same blessing. Tomorrow I will be spending time being with my oldest daughter Pam and that will be awesome for sure. I am also thankful for my 2 sisters Marie and Linda who made sure I got to the VA medical center when I needed to be there taking such good care of me. I as especially thankful for my friend Diane "across the pond" as I like to call it. I feel like you are family too my sweet friend. I really cannot remember a time that I did not know you and look forward to 2017 with you.

Dear Thisisme. I love this!!! I know the basic story, but, your post gives it more visual meaning. The memorial stone in Plymouth is so nice, and, how impressive the steps are! I never thought about it taking 2 months to arrive in Massachusetts-what a grueling trip, but, well worth it to them.

I am so glad you were able to experience our Thanksgiving custom while you visited Green Bay. Tomorrow, my son, Scooter and I will travel to Karo's brother and family home for Thanksgiving. It will take us about an hour to arrive there. And, there is always so much food, along with great company.

Thank you for recognizing America on our holidays, we all feel that you are our family too! I give thanks for our friendship. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Diane. Bless you and your beautiful family! ♥

I loved the fact that your friends did up an American Thanksgiving while you were here in the US. You can understand why we all gain weight over these holidays can't you?!! It's a lovely tradition and my own personal favorite part of it is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. It's something I've done since I was a child and still continue it now. Still a big kid at heart. Loved this post my awesome friend! XX

Thank you, Bee Bee - so glad you enjoyed my Thanksgiving post. Yes, I can understand how you could gain a few pounds! It was very sweet of them to do the Thanksgiving dinner for me, which I so enjoyed. I understand that the Macy's Parade is quite the thing over there. Always lovely to see you here, my awesome friend.
