Remembering ....

Who could ever forget watching this horrendous tragedy unfold on our television screens? I can certainly remember exactly where I was at that time.  The horror of it all - you literally couldn’t  believe what your eyes were seeing. Amazingly, it was eighteen years ago today.    It really was like watching something out of a horror movie - all the poor souls leaping from windows of their offices, and the brave men and women of the emergency services that entered those buildings, without even thinking of the danger to their own lives. They were just thinking of rescuing as many people as they could. 

On the eve of September 11th, 2001, people would be lying beside their loved ones for the last time. Millions of Americans went to bed, without knowing the horror that they would be waking up to. 

I think what I am trying to say, is that we never know what each day may hold, so we really must try to live this wonderful life that we have been given, to the fullest and truly rejoice in each and every day. 

We must tell our loved ones that we love them and how much they mean to us. 

My thoughts and prayers today go out to America, and we must continue to pray, in these still troubled times around the world, that good WILL prevail against evil....

On This Day Before Thanksgiving, My Thanks To All Who Read And Follow My Blog ❤️

Hello again.  I hope this finds you all well, wherever you are!  Last week, for the first time in ages, I actually looked at my Blog Statistics ~ it really is amazing to see the Countries that have visited my Blog recently ~. most readers are from the USA (thank you America!), but also featured were Brazil, France, China, Ukraine, Canada, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, and Russia!  I certainly mustn’t forget my friends here in my own Country 😊.  How those other Countries find this Blog, I have no idea, but thank you everyone. 

Also, I’ve just realised that the number of page views has just passed the 200,000 mark, which I suppose is quite an achievement in itself. 

When I start to write a post, I have no idea what the title is going to be ~ I just hope it will come to me as I muddle along!  Anyway, tomorrow, in the USA, it will be Thanksgiving Day, and I’m sure that, even as we speak, households throughout the land will be in a great state of flux, making sure that everything is ready for the great feast ahead, and if you have visitors arriving, perhaps a cleaning frenzy will also be going on. Hopefully your turkey isn’t still running around!  I’ve seen photos of tables laden with food, courtesy of Pinterest.com. I must say, I shall be feeling very envious of you tomorrow when I sit down to my bread and dripping ~ I jest. 

Then, of course, after a day when thanks is given for all that you have, Black Friday rears it’s ugly head!  A couple of years ago, here in England, we had never heard of Black Friday, but it seems to be another tradition that has found its way across the pond 😊.  It’s a bit like the Boxing Day Sales over here, the day after Christmas Day.  Personally, I can think of nothing worse than being pushed, shoved and jostled by a crowd of bargain hunters.  For a start, being fairly short, I would probably be trampled on!  

This Autumn, we have had some wonderful, mild, sunny days, when all the colours have been at their best, but, today, we have gale force winds blowing around, so very soon the trees will be bare once again.  Here are a few photos taken by me earlier in the week, whilst visiting a pretty little fishing village near here.

Wishing We Had Thanksgiving ....

Can you guess what I'm going to talk about today from the above picture?  Well, tomorrow in America, it's Thanksgiving - a day when families and friends come together ... to be THANKFUL, and I thought I would like to honour their tradition in my Post today. 

 

Thanksgiving originated as a Harvest Festival and the very first Thanksgiving was held in 1621, when the Pilgrims celebrated their first Harvest in the New World. This feast lasted three days and was attended by 90 Native Americans and 50 Pilgrims. It's interesting to me that the Pilgrims set sail from Plymouth, which is my home City.  They set sail on the 6th September 1620 and landed in Massachusetts after an arduous two month journey. This small group of people became known as the Pilgrim Fathers, the founding fathers of America.

I would like to finish by wishing ALL  my American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving and to say THANK YOU to them for being in my life. I have found the American people to be generous hearted, kind, thoughtful, caring, encouraging and supportive. 

 

So my friends, enjoy the companionship and the feasting tomorrow. I will raise a glass to you all!
