So August is almost over ....

Hallo again lovely peeps. As I write this, here in England, we are enjoying a warm, sunny, long Bank Holiday weekend. Now I have to tell you that this is very unusual - Bank Holidays in this country are usually wet, windy, dreary affairs!

People can be seen wandering aimlessly along, wrapped up as though it were Winter, battling the elements, and trying to put a brave face on things.  It's what we British do best!!

But, this weekend, the weather Gods are smiling down at us and the weather is, well, just like Summer! 😊. In fact, this weekend is our last Bank Holiday until Christmas. (There! I've mentioned the 'C' word).

Holidaymakers are heading to our wonderful beaches in their droves, blocking up the lanes for mile after mile, whilst local people try to find a peaceful spot to enjoy some family time,  before the children return to school in early September.

Caravans crawl along our narrow roads, totally oblivious of the five mile tailback behind them.  Here are a couple of photos of places near where I live, to give you some idea of the roads around here....

Driving across Dartmoor, you also have  the sheep 🐑 that wander across the road!

But it's sad to think that Summer will be soon be coming to an end, as the evenings gradually start to pull in. We were having a lovely Summer....we even managed a couple of heatwaves, would you believe, when people could be seen trudging along, muttering to themselves..."it's too hot!  It's TOO hot!!"  Alright, I'll admit it, that would have been me then.

But, of course, as soon as the schools closed for the Summer, everything went downhill, and August has been a very unsettled month.

So this latest spell of lovely (but definitely not too hot) weather has come along just at the right time.

Talking about weather, my thoughts and prayers are with people in certain areas of Texas at the moment, with Hurricane Harvey causing widespread damage.

Well, I think that's all for the moment, so I'll close again for now.

Charming countryside roads that lead to peaceful places, I'm sure! I'm glad you're having a nice amount of warm weather and sunshine. We welcomed a decidedly cooler day today by staying outside until the darkness brought out the mosquitoes, then we came in. It's so nice to have some nice, cool 80 degree Fahrenheit weather instead of the high nineties we've had all summer.

Your pictures are wonderful. In New Zealand our long weekends often turn out to be wet and dreary as well, I wonder why? Today was a lovely day with really nice temperatures and quite a few blossoms starting to show on the trees, a promise of spring.

You seem to have had a rather better yesterday than we did in south Wales. But it was dry and warm so, 'mustn't grumble.'

Beautiful Devon!

Hello Glenda! Thanks for popping over! I'm sure it must be a relief to have the cooler temperatures once again, although the 80's would seem really hot to us!! I know it's mean to say it, but it will be lovely to return to our peace and quiet once all the holidaymakers have returned home. We really don't venture very far at all during the six week school holidays. Hope your cooler days continue for you.

Hello Diana! How lovely to see you here again. Yes, it's really strange about the weather at Bank Holidays. Even if it's been a lovely week beforehand, it usually changes for a long weekend, and I always feel so sorry for people who still have to go to work. I do hope you are keeping well over there in N.Z.

Hi Liz - thank you so much for leaving a comment. I did smile at your comment, "mustn't grumble!!!". Yes, I can't believe it, but today and tomorrow, we have big suns forecast with temps of 72 degrees! Wow! I'm sure the beaches around here will be jam-packed ! Anyway, enjoy the weekend up there in South Wales, and I hope the sun makes an appearance for you 😊🌞

Hi Thisisme. Just when I think I would love living near the coast, a massive hurricane comes by, and I'm glad to be above ground! We are having a couple of dreary and scattered rainstorm days from the hurricane, but are not in danger. I am sorry for the folks who were in the path and hope they were able to get to safety.

Oh, I love your photos, and, it's obvious why you have so many holiday makers! I agree with you though, I would be grumping about them to hurry and leave-give us our calm beaches and waters back, haha! As I look down your road, my eyes scan over the water, the boats, and the beautiful surrounding hills. And, then to the quaint cottages, dripping with the lovely flowers and foliage of summer! You see...this fairytale is what brings them! It is magical! I'm sure you will get to have some more beautiful summer days before the big C comes along!

Have a great week. I'm glad you got to spend some fun times with the little ones. How much longer can we call them "the little ones"! Hugs coming your way, Thisisme ♥

Hello Suzanne. I can always rely on you to leave a lovely, long comment 😊. Thank you! I agree - how much longer can we call them the little ones?! But what will we call them?! I agree, it's awful about the Hurricane, and I'm glad you're not in its path. Your description of this area and, of course, that's why the visitors flock here, and who can blame them ?! I just feel very blessed to live here all the time. Have a good weekend. Hugs ❤️

Hi Diane, that's great that you've had lovely weather. The pictures are gorgeous. We have to enjoy the good weather while it last. And to be honest I'd be among those saying it's too hot (hehe) but that also depends on what I am doing, being out in the mountains in full gear, yeah then it is hot. I love the views in your pictures!
Enjoy your Monday!

Hallo Eva. That was a little very surprise seeing you here! I can imagine that you would be hot with all your walking gear on. To be honest, I've been walking around today saying, "it's too hot!!" I'm glad you liked the pictures today. Enjoy the rest of the week my friend 😊

Lovely post - thatched cottages, sheep, and of course the sea. Glad you enjoyed your holiday.
