Award

Well, I may have lost a Follower, but I have been presented with two Awards in the past couple of days by two of the very nicest people in Blogland.

The first Award was given to me by Shady Del Knight http://shadydell.blogspot.com/ and it is the I Heart (Love) Your Blog Award.  Isn't it just the cutest little Award!  I don't know who designed this one but it is so simple that I just love it!  (Probably because I'm such a simple person myself. LOL!).  Thank you for this one Shady!

I've just looked at Shady's Blog again, just to make sure, but the wonderful thing about this Award is that it doesn't look as if I have to do anything, so I'm just going to sit here and quietly appreciate it.  I have told Shady this on many occasions, but he really is one of the wisest men, and comes up with such meaningful comments to blog posts.  You know when you meet a person, and they make you feel as if you are the only person in the room, well, that's Shady for you!

I would like to pass on this Award to vintch over at http://vintch.blogspot.com/  Her writing is absolutely beautiful and she writes about her life with her lovely husband Robert, and their cute little dog, Pablo.  She is certainly wise beyond her years.  Please do go over to her Blog and pay a visit.

I heard on the radio yesterday that this weekend is supposed to be the most depressing weekend of the year.  I suppose it is because Christmas and the New Year celebrations are over, and we have only (certainly here in England, if not where you are) the dark days of January to look forward to.

It's still getting dark at about 4.30 p.m. here, so the days are still very short.  But am I downhearted?  No, I am not.  I fill the house with scented candles (I particularly like Ylang Ylang, which is very earthy and sensuous) and curl up with a good book.  I even managed to buy some bunches of daffodils yesterday, so they have really brightened up the house.  It is very early for daffodils, and I presume they must have been grown in a hothouse, but they are a lovely sign that it won't be too long before Spring is with us once more.

I have my home, my health, my loving family, the gift of friendship, and now I have my blogging friends to keep me company  throughout this winter of 2011.  Blessings indeed!

I will tell you about my second Award in tomorrow's post.

Award

On the 29th December, my good friend Colenic, over at http://asmileaday-colenic.blogspot.com/  awarded me (along with four other bloggers) the Honest Scrap Award.  Obviously, I was completely surprised and thrilled to gain this Award, and I thank Col very much for thinking of me.
Apparently, I have to share five random things about myself with you, and then pass the Award on to five other people, so here goes.

1.  In 1984, along with my husband, I attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, and Prince Charles came and spoke to us.
I had dark hair then, and huge glasses were in fashion! LOL!

2.  Patience is NOT one of my virtues, I'm afraid.

3.  I had piano lessons for seven years, from the age of 9.

4.  I have lots (and lots!) of handbags.  One day, I will post a photo of them all.

5.   In 4 months time, I will get to the age mentioned in The Beatles' song, "Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, a bottle of wine!"  Hopefully, you won't know the song I'm talking about. LOL!

There! I hope that was random enough for you.  Now we come to choosing 5 worthy recipients, and (drum roll please!), here they are :

                                      Natasha from http://5minutesjustforme.blogspot.com/

I look forward to hearing random things about all of them!

I don't believe it!!

I don't believe it! I have an award!  I would just like to thank my producer, my immediate family, all of my friends, and the lady who runs the local coffee shop....... Oh, sorry, I thought I was Gwynneth Paltrow there for a moment, when she accepted one of HER awards!!

Seriously though, this award has been given to me by my dear blogging friend, Bouncin'Barb who lives on the other side of the pond.  She has assured me that she hasn't given me this award because of the birthday cake I gave her.......  Mmmmm! I'm not so sure about that.  Still, if bribery works, what the heck, I'm all for it!!

I'm sure most of my blogging friends already follow Bouncin'Barb, but if you haven't popped over to see her, you really must and, in particular, you must read her recent blog, entitled "Award from Down Under."  Just read her list of 5 indulgences - waow! I tell you, she is my kind of lady!!  Her blog is called This and  That (As I Bounce Thru Life) - and bounce through life she most certainly does.

I believe that one of the conditions of receiving my award is that I have to now list 5 indulgences of my own, so I will give that some serious consideration during the day and write about them tomorrow.  But I was so excited and overcome by my Award, that I just had to write about it.

Thanks BB!
