The City Of Love ....

They do say that Paris is the city of love (although, in my eyes, Venice comes a very close second), so what better than to post some images of that romantic city for you today.

It is ten years now since my daughter and her family moved across to Paris, so I'm lucky to have been there many, many times.  I still love it every time I visit, the romance and sheer magnificence of that beautiful city.

Well, I hope these images have given you a flavour of this wonderful City of Paris and, who knows, you may even be able to visit there some time.

Sunday Love Song ...

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope you enjoyed the Sunday Love Song today.  I remember it being at the top of the charts forever (or so it seemed at the time!).  It was a cross between this song and Always by Bon Jovi, which I absolutely love, but the videos all looked a bit raunchy to put on my little blog (HaHa).  Now I don't want you all dashing over to Youtube to have a look!!

I am writing a post for tomorrow on Paris, the city of love, so I very much hope that you will join me again then.  Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

The Art Of Letter Writing ....

Author unknown.  Courtesy of Pinterest.

Hallo there dear bloggy friends.  Yes, it's lovely to have all this new technology and to be able to contact people instantly, but am I the only one who misses receiving an actual letter in the post?  I also love writing letters.  although these days I tend to look out for special cards when I'm out and about and I send them to friends.

What could be more romantic than to find little love notes hidden around the house, from someone you love.  When my eldest granddaughter went to Peru at Christmas, my daughter found lots of these little notes scattered around the house, which I thought was really lovely.  (But then, you all know what an old romantic I am!).

The following letter is from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice -

Here are some more images, which I hope you will enjoy.  All courtesy of Pinterestwww.pinterest.com

The Love Letter by Auguste Toulmouche

It won't be long until Valentine's Day now, and I hope that this little series of posts will help you to feel the love.

I was lucky enough to see the balcony in Verona from Romeo and Juliet, and, as you can see, romantic lovers leave their love letters at this spot.  What a lovely idea!

Romantic Films? See If You Agree....

Continuing along the lines of my romantic theme, I have decided to list some of my favourite romantic films.  You might agree, or you might have your own special romantic film.

I must start off by letting you know my two very favourite black and white movies, which I absolutely love.

The first one was made in 1942, and is Now Voyager, starring the wonderful Bette Davis and Paul Heinreid.  I could watch this movie again and again, and one of my favourite quotes comes, in fact, from this movie.

The quote? "Oh Jerry, we have the moon.  Don't lets ask for the stars."  Just typing that quote, makes me go funny all over!

The second black and white movie is Camille (Lady of The Camellias), starring Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor (who my mum adored!).  This is an even earlier film, which was made in 1937.  Every time I watch this film, I weep absolute buckets).

Here are my other choice of romantic films, and I'm sure you have your own list.  These are in no particular order!

Casablanca

Ghost

Gone With The Wind

Love Story

Pretty Woman

Sleepless In Seattle

The Notebook

Titanic

Dirty Dancing

I hope you enjoyed the films I have chosen, and I would very much like to hear your particular favourites.

See you again soon.

Romantically yours, your friend "thisisme".

There Will Be Lots of Hearts and Love This Month ....

Hallo to all my little bloggy peeps!  Here we are then, at the beginning of another month.  I am always glad to get January out of the way I must admit.

I suppose I had better give you a little warning here.  My 'older' Followers will know that I like a little romance (well, a LOT of romance actually!).  I might not get much in my real life, but I can certainly make my own, and I intend to do this during the month of February, or at least leading up to Valentine's Day!

So, you can either come along for the ride, or you can give my posts a miss until it's all over!  I can't really say fairer than that, can I?!

I hope that February will be a happy month for you all.  January, for us over here in England, finished on a very wet note, and my facebook friends will know that the garden is under water at the moment.  The garage has also been flooded.  Never mind, I am just so grateful that the water hasn't entered the house.

I was trying to think how I would spend a perfect Valentine's Day if I had both the money and the choice.  It's quite a difficult one really, because there are so many wonderful places out there.  Bear in mind that this is a fantasy day, so the weather would be sunny, dry and warm all day!

I would like to start the day being woken up by my grandchildren.  Eleanor and I could have lots of giggles, and then the little ones would come into the bedroom, their hair all tousled and their eyes still  sleepy.  It's wonderful how they are always so happy when they first wake up, and they would say "is it morning time yet, grandma?!" Bliss.  See, I'm quite easily pleased really.

We would then spend an hour on our favourite beach,  and have lunch overlooking the bay.

I would then fly to my very favourite place, Venice and spend the day sightseeing,  having a cappuccino sitting outside Florians in St Mark's Square, with the orchestra playing, and watching the people go by.  I would then retire to my plush apartment overlooking the Grand Canal, where I would listen to my favourite music and read a good book for an hour or two.

I would then fly home and have dinner, with a bottle of champagne,  in a lovely restaurant overlooking the water on Plymouth Hoe.

Well, a girl can dream, can't she?!
