At Last - A Touch Of Spring!

I ventured out into the garden yesterday, as I glimpsed some colour poking out of the drabness.  So, here we are, the first spring colour in the garden.  The plant is called a Bergenia.  Apparently, they are sometimes known as Elephant's Ears, because of their large, leathery, oval leaves.

I am delighted to say that today, after three weeks, I am actually feeling just a little bit better, which is good news indeed.  I'm still just sitting around and doing nothing, but my spirits certainly seem to have lifted in the past twenty four hours.

Would you believe that, yesterday, I didn't wake up until 1.45 p.m.!

Anyway, just now I put my wellies on and decided to venture much further down into the garden, and I was delighted to find many more signs of the garden gradually re-awakening after the Winter, so I thought I would share the photos with you.

Camellia

Purple Hellebore
Miniature Tete-a-Tete Daffodils
The daffodils will be a real picture in about a week's time

Forsythia just coming into bloom

I have to say that the hubby has been looking after me really well since I've been poorly.  I usually cut the grass in the formal bit of the garden and I just happened to mention that it really did need cutting, when I looked out and there he was with the lawn mower out and giving the grass its first cut of the year.  See! Now that's romantic to me!!

Oh! I must finish today by congratulating Colin Firth on winning the Oscar for The Best Actor, and I see that The King's Speech gained the Oscar for Best Film, as well as picking up two other Awards.  (I think my Review of the film probably helped you along your way, Colin!!!!).

YAY!! I am sooo very glad that you are feeling better! Your garden is so very beautiful!! I wish that I could come and stroll through it with you! I have a couple of plants popping up through the ground, as well. I just don't know if they are going to survive CHESTER or not!!! I might as well have a GOAT, because he eats EVERYTHING! LOL!

From what I remember reading he needs to give you full credit for that award after the fine piece you wrote. It was great seeing all the color in your garden but what a treat to actually see your other half hard at work. He has a lot of snow on the mountain just like me. It is so wonderful to know you are feeling better after such a period of sickness. Have a great afternoon.

Gawgus things - thank you! Yes, by the end of March, all the shrubs in the garden will really be coming to life and looking nice and fresh.

Anne in Oxfordshire - Hopefully you will be able to get out in the garden in another few weeks! Yes, they say that sleep is a great healer.

lyndylou - yes, it is so nice to actually be feeling a bit better. Still not quite up to running the Marathon yet though! LOL!

Becky - I've never heard of a dog eating everything in the garden before! LOL! Thank you for your good wishes, and I do hope that you are feeling a bit brighter in yourself.

Odie - thank you for your good wishes. Yes, he has a lot of snow on the top. He actually went gray at quite a young age, so he's grown into his hair really!! Hope all is well over there with you.

Sleep is certainly the best medicine and it is so good to know that at last you are really feeling better. The mere fact that you felt up to a wander around the garden and took such lovely photos to share with us here.

This, I am so glad you are feeling better. I was worried about you because what you had was nothing to take lightly. Love your pictures. It was nice to see flowers in Florida this weekend as well. What a good hubby. No wonder you keep him around!! Just please take it easy and when you're tired, REST! I missed you and am sending you those same hugs right back!!!

This was an uplifting post. My jaw dropped at the view from your porch. The flowers are delightful too. I love that you can see the sky for miles. I've heard that hiking in England is something wonderful. Perhaps one day my feet will be there, traipsing over those hills. I'm going to put The King's Speech on my list to watch. I hope you continue to feel better too...

That sleep you got is wonderful news. Your hubs is a hopeless romantic. I think an old antique is better than a diamond myself.

Shady - you read between the lines very well, my friend! Onwards and upwards from now on.

LindyLouMac - yes, I must have needed that sleep and, as you say, I must have been feeling a bit brighter to venture into the garden with my camera like that.

Bouncin'Barb - thank you! I've been sleeping quite a bit again today. I just have to do what my body tells me at the moment, and not fret about other things.

I am all surprised that flowers are blooming all over the world except in Canada! Why did people ever settle in this wasteland? Oh well, Our snow is pretty!
I'm so glad you are feeling more chipper. That was a bad time for you, poor dear. I'm sorry.

My family all cheered when Colin Firth won best actor. We have loved him for years, he is such a great actor. God bless, and keep well.
