Time Is Passing Too Quickly!

Well, it's Saturday again already.  Can't believe that another week has gone by.  It's been so special having the family here again, but they go back on Monday :(  Never mind, they'll be home again in early June for the wedding!

Daughter who is getting married was on the phone this morning, very excited, as they have booked a vintage camper van to take the bride, her dad, (hubby!),  Ruby, Eli and my  eldest granddaughter, to the wedding venue.  The camper van is called Ruby, so they thought it was very appropriate.

Ruby the Camper Van!

My eldest granddaughter and I went out to lunch today and then we went to see the film "Red Riding Hood".  If any of you have ever seen the Twilight saga, then it was a little bit like that.  I really enjoyed it!

It was really interesting to see Julie Christie, the 60's screen icon, playing the grandmother in this film.

On Thursday evening we held a quiz evening for Children's Hospice South West where hubby was once again the Quizmaster.  About 80 people attended and it was a real fun evening.  We always provide supper and at the end of the evening we had raised £635, so another good result.

Last week we held a Fashion Show in aid of Save the Children and raised £1,000, so it all helps.  It really is wonderful how people support us again and again for these functions.

I have been trying to keep up with all your posts during this past week.  The saddest one was from Desiree from Driftwood Ramblings who told us that her daughter, Linda, had lost their much loved puppy, Romeo.   Apparently, Romeo was out for a walk with the family dogs and inexplicably bolted through a fence onto a road and was knocked down and killed.

The good news is that I have just read today that Linda has turned this into something positive and, first of all adopted Coco, a rescue pup from the same Animal Shelter, and, secondly, she has taken to raising funds for this very worthy cause.

It's amazing how with our blogging family we share the ups and the downs of family life.  I don't know about you, but I feel that I know each and every one of you.  I know I can say with confidence that if I ever needed it, you would all be there with your support and encouragement.

I was going to post a few photos for you today, but I think I will save them for my 'Sunday Snaps' feature if that's alright with you.

See you tomorrow!

Hi Diane .. wow I think the vintage camper is a fabulous idea , very apt to be called "Ruby" :-) so much fun too.

Yeah where has the week gone, cannot believe how quickly my holiday week went ....!!

Well done on your money raising events , excellent turn outs ..

As you say sad and good news about the little puppy... and the family are raising money too .:-)

I don't share (ups and downs) with everyone in the blogging world, and I don't feel I can blog about certain things. But I do know that if I did you would all be there too. take care xo

Fantastic work with the funraisers.

Love the campervan, one of my wishes to have one, and you went with your granddaughter to the movies? Wow, she is one lucky girl to have such a lovely grandma, enjoy the rest of their stay,
Maureen

Hi, Thisisme! I learned about Romeo the other day thru Odie's blog and it made me very sad. Saving another dog is the way to work through the tragedy and make something positive come out of it. I'm so glad your fundraisers were successful. When the time comes I hope to see a picture of dear little Ruby riding in Ruby or perhaps posed next to it. I am honored if you feel that you have come to know me and trust me as a friend. I miss you on my blog when you're busy with family but I know that our friendship will endure. Enjoy the remains of the day and your weekend, dear Thisisme!

Great to see a post from you this morning & to know you have been having such a good time with your family & successful with fundraisers as well. That van is so cute & I agree with Shady that it would be awesome to have a picture of Ruby standing beside Ruby. That's good blog material girl. Enjoy your weekend & know we are all so very happy for you & your hubby to have had this special time building memories.

I couldn't believe how fast this week went either. The wedding will be here before you know it! The camper is the bomb diggitty! Nicely done!

Enjoy your last few days and give our best to everyone!

Hello Diane!

I've been thinking of you having fun with your family. I didn't expect to see anything new until after they'd left and you'd dried your tears...so this is a big surprise and I have to add how touched I am that you made mention of Romeo in such a sweet and thoughtful way...thank you for that, Diane! Totally unexpected.

Your own fundraising efforts seem to have gone well. How wonderful that you and your husband make time to do this to benefit those who are suffering and less well-off! I salute your kindness and compassion!

And now, you can focus on THE BIG DAY in June. I can't wait to see all the wedding pictures (you in your lovely new outfit, the bridal couple, the van with Ruby posing beside it etc). Such a lot to get ready with you hosting the reception from home. You really are amazing!

Big hug,

Des xoxo

Bethe77 - Yes, hopefully, lots of happy memories on the wedding day! Just pray that it will be dry!

Anne in Oxfordshire - I hope you're feeling okay after your holiday and that you're back home again. It was obviously a lovely little interlude, and these are to be grabbed at with both hands!

Jo-Anne Mother and Nanna - I agree. Those vintage and classic cars are wonderful.

Daydream Living - Hi Maureen. Yes, my granddaughter and I love to get out just the two of us whenever they are staying here with us. Last year she stayed with us on her own for five weeks. It was wonderful! She's such good company.

Shady Del Knight - There! I've given you your full title today! Yes, I think photos of the two Rubys is a must!! Thank you for your warm comments, as always dear friend.

Odie - it's always a pleasure to receive your comments my friend, and I will take the photo of Ruby1 and Ruby2!! Have a lovely weekend.

SkippyMom - bomb diggity!! Wow! I haven't heard that before. I shall use that now if I think something is pretty special!! Hope all is well with you and all your family over there across the pond! Hugs!

Desiree - Hallo! It was a pleasure for my to mention Romeo in my post today, and I can imagine how much you are all missing him, but how lovely that another little pup is going to get so much love from you all. I think that's definitely the right thing to do. Yes, we try to do as much fund raising as we can throughout the year. I just feel so blessed to have healthy daughters and healthy grandchildren, that I feel you really have to try to do something for those less fortunate. Take care x

Times passes... But look at all the memories you made, over this lovely past week!

I read the "Twilight" books and follow the film saga. This "Red Riding Hood" film was directed by Catherine, the director of the first "Twilight" film.

Lots of fans didn't like things about the first film. But I thought she did a great job with little money. No one knew this was going to be a biggggggggg thinggggg, when they made the first "Twilight" film. But even so, it because huge. And I still give Catherine lots of credit, for that.

Gentle hugs,
.♥.

Oooops, that should have read... "it became huge." :-)

They say nothing is certain but death and taxes but there is one more thing. You can always count on my friendship as I do yours! Enjoy the rest of the time with your family. Then get some rest before the wedding. It'll be here before you know it.

I heard all about Romeo and just cried. You're right though, the blogging family is wonderful.

So glad you are enjoying your time with the family! Love the camper! I thought the previews to Red Riding Hood were scary---I don't know if I can see it yet...might be too much for me!

All your fundraising efforts are to be applauded! So many worthy places would close right down without the help of people like you! High five!

I am so very sorry that it has taken me so long to get over here to visit and comment but, well, you know my story! I am so very happy to have finally caught up on all of your news and read all of your posts about the wonderful times you have been having with your dear family (and gorgeous Frenchy!)

I also want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your very sweet words and beautiful post about my blogging dilemma. I truly appreciate everything you said and I will never forget your friendship and support.

Blessings and my very best wishes always,
Natasha.

PS I just bought a copy of Good Housekeeping with Twiggy on the front cover and thought of you the whole time I read it! It was a great issue and it had an article about someone's 40th birthday being life changing. That article has really touched me as I turn 40 this year and have been thinking about positive things I can do this year! I can see why you love reading it so much and I think I might be buying it a lot more in the future!

Southhamsdarling said...

Natasha - No need for apologies little friend! Just pop over when you can, although I did miss receiving your lovely warm comments. Hee Hee!! I'm glad you enjoyed the Good Housekeeping - as it had that article about turning 40, it was almost meant to be that you read it!! Warmest wishes to you x

Natasha - forgot to say, my eldest daughter will be 40 in June!

Bouncin'Barb - It's lovely to know that I can count on your friendship. I feel that we have built up a real bond of friendship with our bloggy friends, especially the ones that come over and comment on every post. (Obviously there are times when we can't always do that, but you will know what I mean). Hope the sun is shining for you on your Love Shack! Lots of hugs to you x

Empty Nester - yes, it was tragic about poor Romeo, but Desiree's daughter seems to be doing something good from it. Go on, be a devil - go and see the film. It's not TOO scary = honest!!

lyndylou - I think the camper van will be pretty cool too! I'm just praying that it will be a dry day. You know what our weather can be like sometimes in the Summer!

Becca - I think you will enjoy the movie - it was pretty good!!
