I'm Going To Shine Anyway! :)

It was a summer's day here yesterday. Wow! That was a surprise, seeing it was the 26th June! Today  my friends,  it is back to normal and we have dark and dreary again! BUT - I woke up this morning and decided that, even though the sun wasn't out, I was going to shine anyway!! Sounds like a good idea, dont you think?!

My two daughters and a group of their friends had a super weekend in Brighton, to celebrate daughter number 1's birthday, so we were looking after my eldest granddaughter and little Alfred! On Saturday we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4.  Now I had mixed feelings about this, because the reviews hadn't been good and it was said that Johnny Depp only agreed to make the film because Disney were to  pay him five million dollars!  I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the sequences with the mermaids were amazing.

Yesterday, it was a glorious day, so we headed off to a local seaside resort, as my granddaughter said that she had never played Crazy Golf before!  We had a super time together.  She really is such good company and, for some strange reason, seems to think that I'm really funny and is always falling about laughing!

We then went to have a little mooch around the shops, which teenagers love (alright then, I do as well!) and finished off in a Costa coffee shop, where I had a raspberry and white chocolate muffin - yum yum - whilst the granddaughter tucked into a chocolate mousse.

I have some news today, in that, on Thursday, I will be writing my first guest post. Eeeek!  My bloggy friend, Kristina from A Perfect Dose of Life, is in the throes of moving at the moment, so she asked me if I would be one of her guest bloggers.  "Of course", I said.  Then that feeling of dread kicks in, when you wonder what you have let yourself in for.

Anyway, I do hope that you will pop along to Kristina's Blog on the 30th and give me a little support!!

Dear Thisisme (or Gawgus or whoever I'm actually writing to, LOL)- You know that I'll be there for you on Kristina's blog. I look forward to reading your guest post. It's so nice of you to look after your granddaughter and Alfred. Question: Did Alfred enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean? (LOL) Does he fancy Penelope Cruz? (LOL) I wish I knew how to improve your dreary weather. I am delighted to report that our weather has turned dreary which is a big improvement. We're getting desperately needed rain and the clouds cool down the temperature (into the 80s).

This was such a refreshing post my sweet friend. It is always a pleasure to see the smiling face of your oldest grandaughter having fun with her girlfriend/grandma. I must say that you were looking mighty fine that day my dear. Have a great rest of the week. Don't forget Shady is surely looking for pictures of Alfred.

Shady - Hi dear friend. Yes, it's the real me. Not someone pretending to be me! LOL! They wouldn't let Alfred into the cinema, as they said that he didn't look old enough!!! I'm glad that you're getting cooler temperatures and the much needed rain. It must be such a relief!! Take care.

Odie - You say the sweetest things!!! Yes, I must remember to take some photos of Alfred for our dear friend Shady! Hope you are all well over there and that Linda is getting much better.

I'm over here dying to have a bite of that muffin and also the mousse. What a great way to spend an afternoon with your sweet Granddaughter. I once had my daughter make a list of silly things that teenagers spend money on. We found out that adults have a lot in common with our teens because we like to spend our funds on similar things...like putt putt golf and flavored drinks, and also things from little shops! So your post today proves that our experiment was right! Also on the list was tattoos...which I see that you did not get!

Wish the gloom would go - your lil' trip looks like such fun!

Question Dear... How do you keep that cute little figure, and eat goodies like that?!?!?!?!?

Only now and then, perhaps? :-)

Please say so, even if you can eat 'em all the time. Make me feel better. -giggles-

SkippyMom - yes, I wish the gloom would go as well, although the sun has been shining today. Yay! And I've got a garden party here this evening with my ladies' group, so we could be lucky again!!

Lavi - well, I hope the guest post will be okay. I really don't want to lose all Kristina's followers! Hee Hee!

Aunt Amelia's Attick - if you could see what I eat every day, you would probably have a fit. I am always hungry. I am SO lucky that I can eat what I like. It drives all my friends mad!! Hee Hee!!

Chatty Crone - I'm crazy enough already. I didn't need the golf to do that! LOL! Yes, I thought the film was great, but, NO, I didn't see the very end, so missed the surprise :(

Looks like you all had a great time. I know time with my GRANDsons is the best time of my life. Thanks for reminding me about Put-Put Golf we will have to go this weekend. See you at your guest post. I KNOW IT WILL BE GREAT. HAVE AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND AND BLESSED SUNDAY.

I forgot to tell you, we got 1/2" of rain this morning to go with our 111 and 113 temp this weekend. The record high in the last 130 years of records was 108 and we have toped that 3 times this week. So much for the 1/2" rain. OH WELL SEND US SOME MORE THIS WAY. THANKS

I've never heard of Crazy Golf. It sounds like fun. It is fun to do things with the grandkids. I'm glad to hear the Pirate's movie is good. I didn't like the last two. Too violent. It is exciting you are a guest blooger! I'll pop over to read.

Southhamsdarling said...

Rainbow - we are, indeed, so blessed with our grandchildren and this really is the happiest of times! I can't believe those temperatures you ate having my friend. I don't think I could cope with that! I hope it cools and that you get some much needed rain very soon!

Belle - crazy golf is fun! I notice that several of my American friends are calling it Put-Put golf! Like you, I find such pleasure in spending times with the grandchildren.

You certainly know how to top off a perfect day with your granddaughter. It all looked like great fun and the chocolate treats made me wish I could visit the Costa coffee shop.

Is Crazy Golf the same as Miniature Golf? Never heard of it. I love the Pirate movies with Johnny Depp. The special effects are always amazing... I hope to see it when my back gets better.

I was so touched by your post on your daughter's birthday...the pic of you and her when she was so small and then together when she is a grown woman.

I miss talking with you...but have literally been flat on my back sleeping off this miserable back of mine!

Southhamsdarling said...

Retired English Teacher - we certainly had a super day and, yes, it was a good way to end the day with the coffee and scrumptious muffin!

Donna - I'm so sorry to hear about the problems with your back again. I do hope that things are getting a bit easier for you. It's really miserable when that happens. Thank you for your lovely comments today, and I've missed you too!
