Sun Two Days In A Row!

Regular Followers will know that we haven't seen too much of that big yellow thing up in the sky recently, but, hey, it's been sunny for two days in a row now.  Should I start to get excited do you think?!  Has summer finally arrived here in Devon?!

Exciting day for me, as it is the day of my first guest post over at Kristina's blog - because of the time difference, I don't know when it will actually appear to you, but it will definitely be there some time today, the 30th June!

Today is another special day, as it is Eli's third birthday, so I expect you will be seeing some photos of the little party that he will be having later on this afternoon!  We have bought him a little micro-scooter and I am sure that he will have great fun zooming around on it.

Those of you who have been following me for a while, will know that I love quotations and, on this sunny day, with not a cloud in the sky, here are a few that I have picked out for today.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. ~James Dent

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade. ~Gertrude Jekyll

A life without love is like a year without summer. ~Swedish Proverb

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~Henry James

Enjoy your day my dear bloggy friends, whatever you might be up to and, whatever the weather is like in your little corner of the world, I hope that the sun is shining in your hearts.

Bethe - hi there! Thank you for the birthday wishes for Eli. The sun is being pretty elusive this year, isn't it?!

Happy birthday to Eli and I am sure it will be a super party. I checked your link but the post was not there yet. However I did stumble around and found a wonderful post on one of my favorite birds, the Killdeer. Have a marvelous day.

At last I am here to catch up on what you have been up to in my absence. I love the new banner and quote, you sound as though you have been enjoying your family, despite the weather and Congratulations on your Golden Anniversary :) :) Crazy golf have not played that for many years!

Odie - probably Kristina has pulled my post, because it wasn't up to scratch! Hee Hee! Thanks for looking anyway. How lovely that you found that bird though. Yes, I'm looking forward to the little party.

LindyLouMac in Italy - hi there. Lovely to see you here again. Have missed you! Gosh, you've obviously been checking quite a lot of my posts. That was funny about the Golden Wedding Anniversary card though, wasn't it?! The poor lady was mortified!

You are a blessing to the blog world, Thisisme! You say the sun was out two days in a row? Did that set a new record for Devon? (LOL) Did local residents flee in panic, not knowing what to make of that big yellow ball in the sky? (LOL) God bless Eli on his birthday and I'll look for you over on APDOL, my dear friend!

Southhamsdarling said...

Shady - Hi there. That was a lovely thing to say, and the rest of your comments did make me laugh!! Yes, we're not used to that big yellow ball being around for this long. Tomorrow, if it's still here, all the residents will be complaining that it's too hot!!! LOL! I've got little Alfred sitting beside me in the garden as I type this, and I will include a couple of photos tomorrow for you.

flowers on my table - Oh, I'm so sorry about the rain that you're having. Believe me, we've had our fair share of it, and I believe it is coming in again later on today :( Thank you for Eli's birthday wishes. Wow, wow, wow! I've never won anything in my life before, (well only once when I was a little girl, and I won a prize for getting the most things into a matchbox!!!), so I am absoloutely thrilled to bits with my win. And it was such a beautiful giveaway as well. Thank you so much my friend, and please do thank the lovely Lois for me. I am genuinely so delighted about this!! I don't have outlook, so could you please send me your e-mail address via thisismegodwell@hotmail.co.uk and I will then let you have my address. Thank you again. Big hug!

Oh I am soooooooo glad that you have had 2 whole days of sunshine.

I know your weather is often on the damp side, but ours is getting to be thus, also. Rainy, rainy time we've been having over the pond, in the NE. But things are looking up, for the coming weekend. :-)

Enjoy the 3 year Birthday *Bash*! :-)

Will go see your guest post.

Happy third birthday to Eli♡♡♡
What a nice looking micro-scooter it is. He'ii enjoy using it♪

Oh, nice quotation. you enjoyed your sunny day, aren't you? haha,I loved "the lawn mower is broken" part. In Japan, not many people need it, though. and my favorite is "A life without love is like a year without summer"

Thank you for sharing!!!
I hope the sun is shining in all of your family as well.

Love and Hugs, Orchid

Orchid - hallo! Yes, I've just got back from the party, and he loved his little micro-scooter. I've told him mum that I will buy a helmet for him though. I would hate him to fall off and knock his head!

Katherine's Corner - thank you for Eli's birthday wishes my friend, and thank you for taking the trouble to pop over to my guest post!

Bouncin'Barb - you are always so kind to me my dear friend. Big hugs to you.

What a great gift for Eli! We bought two for our grandsons and they had so much fun on them. I'm also glad the sun is out in Devon. It has been sunny almost every day since I returned from vacation, we have been lucky.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELI, my youngest GRANDson was 3 on June 11th and 3 is so cute. He is the one that called to tell me they were moving to London. He said very excited "I'm going to England Mamaw!" I asked "Do you know where England is." He said "No, but I'm going to England." He now knows where England is but I told him "Just don't forget where TEXAS is"

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEK AND A BLESSED WEEKEND.

Thank you for wishing me a good day. Actually, it turned out to be quite a nice day. I went to high tea (American version) with two friends. That was a rare treat. It did make me long for a trip to England.

Teresa - thank you my friend! Hope your weekend is a lovely one too!

Belle - Hi. That's great that the sun has been shining since you returned from your vacation. Makes you feel so much better, doesn't it?! I didn't know you had two grandsons. I'm sure Eli will love the scooter!

Becca - we've got the much needed sun, and you've got the much needed rain, so all is well with the world!!

rainbow - I am so sorry that your little grandson is going to be moving so far away from you my friend. I know how much you will miss him and, as you say, it's such a lovely age. I hope they're not going too soon!

Glenda - yes, three is such a cute age. I could eat him all up! Hopefully we will get this weather for a while now, but you can never tell here in England!

Ana* - lovely to see you here today, and thank you for now following! Happy apple - I love that!!! Thank you so much for the offer of the tour if ever I visit. That is so kind!

Retired English Teacher - High tea (American style!) with your two friends sounds like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I love meeting up with my girlfriends. The older I get, the more important I find that they become. Perhaps that's something to do with being an only child.

Sush - loves, loves, loves to you too! Yes, my little boy had a super birthday (and so did grandma of course!). Thank you so much for popping over to my guest post my friend. I know, the family header photo was very joyful, wasn't it?! I'll probably put it back again in a while.

I bet Eli had a great Birthday. Little boys really like their riding toys! Love your sunny day quotes. What are those little colored buildings in a row? Are they bath houses? They're really cute. And the bumble bee on your photo is great. That's hard to do...keeping them still while you shoot a photo. I really enjoy your ocean shots Thisisme!

Southhamsdarling said...

Susan - I've just changed that header photo, which I took this afternoon, and I was pleased to catch the bumble bee. Yes, little Eli had a lovely birthday and I will be posting some photos tomorrow. We call those coloured buildings 'beach huts'. They are usually right by the beach, and people can change in there, and make a cup of tea etc. Hope you're enjoying the weekend my friend.
