Changes All Over The Place!

Those of us who use the internet have had some changes thrust upon us recently, that perhaps we didn't want, as we were quite happy, thank you very much, bumbling along in our own sweet ways!

First there was Timeline on facebook, and then there was the new Blogger interface. Oh, I despaired.  I didn't want these changes - BUT, I have to say that I am now loving the new Timeline on facebook, and the photos come out so much better than before.  I resisted and resisted on going over to the new interface on Blogger and then, one day, I woke up, and there it was.  It had been changed for me!  Guess what, after a few days of touring round the site, I now love it! It is so much cleaner than the old one, and I can still update my header photo very quickly, which is what I was really worried about!

I see now that you can actually revert back to the old Blogger, but, you know what, I'm going to stay with the new one!  I admit that I was having problems with it originally, but when my son-in-law (I should call him" son-in-love" as a couple of my other bloggy friends call their daughter or son in laws, for he certainly is that, and we couldn't wish for anyone  better to have come into our family all those years ago.) was here a couple of weeks ago, he set it up so that I now get to my blog using Google Chrome, and it is so much easier, and I think it's quicker as well.

What does all this tell us?  Perhaps that we should embrace all these changes that come our way, and not get stuck into a rut.  I love keeping up with all that is happening with new technology, and my theory is that it's got to be keeping my brain active by learning all these new things.  (Mind you, my family might disagree with me on that one! Hee Hee!).

I Like this quote I dislike this quote

I Like this quote I dislike this quoteHe who moves not forward, goes backwardby Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (German Playwright).

‘Life belongs to the living, and he who lives must be prepared for changes.’
by Johann as above.

What do you think my friends?  Do you kick against change, or are you quite happy to go along with the new?

The keener eyed amongst you might notice that I have slightly changed the layout of my Blog, in that I only have one sidebar now.  I don't know whether that's less distracting for you when reading my posts, or whether it doesn't really make any difference!

I was like you with FB and Blogger; really wondering why we had to change, not liking the thought...but now that we have made the switch, I don't mind either too terribly much. Let's just hope they don't make major changes again too soon!

Your blog is always so lovely, just like an elegant English garden.

I think your blog looks clean, uncluttered and beautiful, dear Thisisme! I tend to resist change even though I have preached for years that we should embrace it. Our aversion to change is closely linked with the dreaded old age condition known as hardening of the attitudes. Flexibility is the key. As you mentioned it is good for people of a certain age to stay current and learn how to use the latest technology. It does keep us sharp and "in the game." I hope you're having a splendid day and that the weather is allowing you to spend some time in your fabulous garden. God bless!

Hi Diane,
I like change, it's good for me, but sometimes it can be overwhelming when it involves kids and countries and house moving etc... Thanks for your sweet comment, always make me smile to see your name pop up, thanks!

I like the way your blog looks. I think two sidebars is one too many. I used to have two on mine, as well, but I thought it was too much distraction. This is nice and clean and very elegant. Like you, I wasn't crazy about the new Blogger interface at first, but now I prefer it and I like the fb Timeline because for the photo quality, as well. I think change is good. I change the layout of my blog often because I can't afford to constantly redecorate my house so this works better for me and it's a lot of fun to get creative with it. I like that you change your header photo often. It makes it fun to visit your site and see what's new.

Change is what makes the world go round. It's good for us even though we get out of our 'comfort zone' while getting used to new things. Imagine how small minded the world would be if we didn't expand our horizons? Love the new look to your already awesome blog! Awesome makes Awesome! Big hugs!

Not being a fan of Sidebars, I prefer just one. :-)

I'm being an "old foggy" and staying with the "old" on Blogger, for as long as they leave it this way. When they change me for good, then I will learn it. Just me...

Gentle hugs...

I am very interested in how your family feels, about the political change, in France...........???? Those members of your family, who live there... They certainly must have an opinion.

Gentle hugs...

I too fought against the new Blogger interface but now that it's here I'm trying to learn my way around. I still have a hard time finding Dashboard. I've always been eager to learn the new technology but it seems to be moving so much faster these days. I really don't want to be left behind so I struggle to keep up. I like your new look...fresh and clear.

I could have written your blog today. I resisted both the Facebook and the Blogger changes as long as I could. I didn't realize you could go back to the old Blogger dashboard. I've spent all morning complaining to Hubby about the website change of the supplier we use to order supplies for our Summer business at the coast. Maybe I'll learn to like it, but where it usually took me about 15 minutes to order supplies online, today it took an hour. I'm going to call the rep and see if I can get some helpful hints on navigating around the site.

I always enjoy your header photos too. Your blog is so pleasant to look at!

I noticed the change in your layout right away, and I like it. Actually, is gives your blog a more crisp look. I also like the changes in both FB and Blogger. Change is a part of life, and you are right, it does challenge us in a good way. I need to do some major overhaul work on my blog. I've wanted to do it for a long time, but it keeps getting put on the back burner. Maybe I'l get it done soon.

I always hate the change at first because it takes me so long to figure it out and to use it but once i do I end up liking it. I agree about the pictures on FB they come out so much nicer

Change has always been dreaded by just about everyone I know so that is normal I guess. When I first looked at Google Chrome I didn't like it and switched back. Then I started having the dreaded problem of not being able to comment so I went back to Chrome and have been there ever since. It literally solved all my problems. On top of that when using Chrome all I have to do is click on the address bar, type (1) "W" and the other sites I visit are there for me to click on like facebook, yahoo, etc. Sometimes change is amazing.

Dearest Diane,
I cannot agree more with Ms. Barb's comment. I once had trouble getting used to the new interface; especially removing word verification. I needed to go back the old one for it; but now like you I love the wider space for writing post and so on. I think I am lucky that I could get used to it now.
Well, catching up with the change is hard for me, though(^^;)
I love your header and layout♡♡♡

Love you always from east, xoxo Miyako*

I hate change and get all pissy when I am forced to make a change but sometimes I have no say in the matter and have to just adjust and deal.

I embraced the facebook timeline and the new blogger interface when they pretty much first came out.
I guess I like the challenge of exploring new ways of doing things.
Moving to wordpress was a learning experience all over again

Hi Diane, your blog looks wonderful, but...there was no header picture that came up. I, too, love change, but haven't totally found my way around the new blogger, other than to notice my posts seem to look better. And, I haven't been able to master a new header photo on the new facebook, although, I like that new page.

I will trudge on to keep working, new stuff, when you master it, is really cool! See you soon!♥

Hi my friend here I am again at last catching up on your blog, via my iPad of course. I absolutely agree with you about all the changes, it did not take long to get used to them and now I also prefer them, I also use Google Chrome on my Vaio computer, far better! Your new header is beautiful and all the photos of your plants lovely. How about doing a monthly update post like I do, then We can compare progress for the month in the UK and Italy. We have friends arriving today so will not be around much for a few days, maybe next time I call by it will be from the main computer. Have a lovely weekend.

Yes like you I just went with the flow, so when FB changed my profile, I just went with it and now I like it. Blogger I opted to change but I am still getting used to it. What I would like to know from you though my friend is how you put your blog address onto your photos?? Have tried and failed numerous times! I am such a technophobe lol

I'm not a huge fan or change - and usually only change when I'm forced into it - like Blogger! I still can't get quite used to it, and have yet to remember to add the tags on my blogs! Why can't everything just stay the same? waaahhhhh! LOL
