An Important Day In A Little Chap's Life....

Hi there everyone.  Can you believe that summer has FINALLY arrived in my little corner of the world.  I have spent all day sitting on the beach with a friend, and it was absolutely spiffing! I thought my American friends might appreciate that word because, of course, we use it all the time here in England.  Not to mention "tally ho" and "toodle pip old bean!!"

Anyway, enough of this nonsense, here is a photo of the beach that I took on my mobile phone today.  Please note the blue sky - not a cloud to be seen, and we haven't had many days like that here in Devon this year!

You might be wondering about the title of my post today.  Well, my gorgeous little grandson Elijah (Eli) Toots started at the local Primary School today!  Bless him!  This week he will be there from 9 - 12 noon, then 9 - 1.30 p.m. next week (when he will have lunch) and the following week it will be full time from 9 - 3.15 p.m.  Apparently, he got on really well today.  Let's hope he's ready to go again in the morning. LOL!  I don't know whether his mummy took another photo of him today, but here is a photo taken about six weeks ago, when he was trying his school uniform on.  He has had his hair trimmed since then (but not too much!) all ready for the big day.

Isn't it funny how they stand so straight when they are having that first photo taken.  I know that I have a photo taken on my first day at school, and I am standing just like a little soldier on parade!! I must see if I can find that photo for you.

I did mention in my last post about the photos of Monet's Garden, but I think I will save them and do a Sunday Snaps feature this weekend.

My number one granddaughter is very happy this week because, after FOUR years, she finally had her brace removed on Monday.  Doesn't she look gorgeous (facebook friends please look away NOW!!). I honestly can't believe what a difference it has made.  I can see that I shall have to be fighting off the waiters when we go to Gran Canaria at the end of October!

Well peeps, I think that's enough excitement for one day.  I hope you are all keeping well and I will see you again at the weekend.  Hugs!

Hallo, dear Thisisme! What a milestone in young Eli's life - off to school. A handsome lad he is. I know you're thankful that his latest trip to the barber didn't result in an extreme haircut. I used to stand at attention the very same way when my father took my picture. Eleanor will surely turn heads and stop traffic with that dazzling smile. She always has been an attractive, nicely groomed and dressed young lady but now she looks like a movie star! I can't believe that cobalt blue sky over Devon! Tell me, dear friend. Did the local gentry flee in terror when the sun came out (not knowing what it was?) I look forward to your Sunday Snaps feature this weekend. Until then, dear Thisisme, take care and enjoy your September summer! Bless!

She is model beautiful, just like her sweet grandma! You will have to fight them off for yourself, too, my friend!

And little Eli is just as handsome as they come. I do hope he has a good time and enjoys it.

I learned a new word today! Spiffing. I love it. I should say, I learnt a new word today. I've been reading a couple of books written by Brits lately, and I'm seeing the British spellings and usages in these books. ;)

Mostly, I'm happy that you are having a spiffing day in the sunshine!

I love that photo of Eli! He is such a cute little man.

Your grands are all as gorgeous as you are my dear.

Hello dear friend, Adorable grandson and a beautiful granddaughter. You with summer and us ending with it, but it's still warm here 88deg. today. Yes, was a very sad thing when daughter lost her hubby but she is coming around and facing the future with a smile but a heavy heart and her two grown kids. Perhaps some day they will marry and give her grandchildren, that will certainly change her life.
Hugs...Lu

I'm so glad Eli had a good first day at school! He's such a cutie. And wow! Look at that smile! You'd best get a big stick out to run those boys off...cause they're going to be coming around!

I meant to tell you how I used to stand in the kitchen whenever a boy came by for one of the lovelies---I would stand at the counter with my biggest knife and the cutting board and I would smile ever so sweetly, wave hello to them with the knife and then SLAM the knife down on the cutting board. They got the hint. LOL
