An Important Day for Women!
Today is International Women's Day, and I thought that was very much worth a mention on my Blog today. Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world, ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events, through to local women's craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and much more.
I would like to thank all those women, from the Suffragettes onwards, who fought so hard to gain women's rights and to make the world a much better place for the women of today, although, unfortunately, there are still parts of the world (Afghanistan and the Middle East for example) where there is still a long way to go for women to be treated with the respect they deserve.

This post is also in honour of all the wonderful women out there who, like me, write a Blog. These women really are the very best. When I first joined the blogging community, I had no idea just how wonderful an experience it was going to be. I feel that it has enriched my life, with 'talking' to these women from all parts of the world. Women who are caring, generous, funny, supportive when we need a helping hand, and only too happy to celebrate in our good times as well.
Thank you each and every one!!

Happy International Woman's Day to you too.
We have come so far but the journey hasn't ended yet.
Is that you dancing in the red dress Diane?!
Have a great Women's Day!
Happy Women's Day - Thank you also for your part in this wonderful world of blogging which is I guess dominated a bit by women. So maybe that is part of our calling as women of God, who want to share about Him.
Hallo, dear Thisisme! I pledge my wholehearted support to the advancement of women. Mrs. Shady and I watch lots of old television series on Hulu and NetFlix and it is jarring to witness how women were regarded when those programs were made. I saw one show in which a husband told police that he just needs to smack his wife around a little to keep her in line. The situation was played for humor but shocks the sensibilities today. I agree there are many outstanding women involved in blogging and I am fortunate to have some of them in my circle of friends. Happy Women's Day to you, dear friend Thisisme!
Happy Women's Day!! Lovely post, Diane. Enjoy your day!
Hugs,
Thank you for the lovely blog post, Diane! I didn't realize there even WAS an International Women's Day, until I read about it earlier on another blog. Yay for us women! And I have a thought. If many of our US calendars have notations for certain "important" dates, then this day should also be included! And in every country! Is it on calendars there?
HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY to you too. sandie
Women lifting up women is what blogging is about for me. If it gets competitive it annoys me no end. hugs, olive
I am late to the game today, but Happy Women's Day, and thank you for educating us!
I have often thought about how grateful I am for feminists. When I was a girl few women were doctors etc. I'm also grateful for all the lovely women I have met online. You cheer me up and make me feel a part of your lives.
Happy Women's Day to you dearest Thisisme! I love your beautiful flowers and this wonderful post in honor of us all. Bless you!♥
happy international woman's day to you
Dearest Diane,
Wow, International Women's Day♡♡♡ I don't remember heard of this very important day(^^;) I really am happy to know this information♬♬♬ So sorry for my belated post, I felt a bit sad knowing a bit late.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Diane, you give women a good name by all you write and do for your female buddies across the globe. We celebrate you today, as well as all those who have fought the fight to give us a place to stand in good conscience, toe to toe with the men of the world. God created man, male and female, to be co-heirs of all He had designed.
