Falling leaves ....

Hallo again little bloggy friends.  We are approaching the end of another week.  Christmas draws ever near and, of course, my American friends (not sure about Canada, as I think they might have already had theirs.  Although I'm probably totally wrong, of course!!) have their wonderful Thanksgiving to look forward to.

It's only since I've been blogging for these past three years, that I've realized just what a big thing Thanksgiving is over in America.  I've read about all the preparations leading up to the big day, and the wonderful array of food being prepared, and I am totally jealous that I am not a part of it all!

What wonderful blue skies we have been having over here this past week.  Not a cloud in the sky, although it has turned much chillier these past few days.  I don't mind that though.  At least you can wrap up and get out in the fresh air.  Far better than the dreary drizzle that we tend to get so much of here in Devon, although this year we have been truly blessed with our weather.  So no complaints from  me! I promise you that the above photo has not been enhanced in anyway!

I was delighted to receive a book in the post today, which has been written by one of my American bloggy friends, Becky Povich. She has written her Memoir, entitled From Pigtails to Chin Hairs, and I am really looking forward to reading it.  One of the reviews on the back of her book, says that the Memoir is a series of finely drawn vignettes that does everything a good memoir should do - makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you want to sit down and have a cup of coffee with the author".

Becky writes a delightful blog, and I'm sure she would love it if you popped over to say Hi!  She is at http://beckypovich.blogspot.co.uk/

Look forward to seeing you again soon dear friends.  Meanwhile, I'm sending hugs your way.

Hallo, dear Thisikins! From the look of your header, you've got your work cut out for you. Seems you'll be raking fallen leaves well into the new year! :)

I must say it does look like that brilliant blue sky in your first picture is photoshopped! I'm with you. I'll take a cold, sunny day over a dreary, drizzly one anytime. I'm so happy you had a fine weather year. I told you a couple of years ago that the pendulum would swing back and Devon's streak of dismal weather would come to an end.

Yessum, Thanksgiving is a big day here in America and it's rapidly approaching. This year Mrs. Shady and I will be hosting a large family gathering here at our house. It will be the first Thanksgiving in 15 years that Toto has not sat next to me begging for turkey. I miss her every single day.

Thanks for turning me on to Becky's blog and book. It's always encouraging to find a writer with a sense of humor.

I hope your Emma is feeling more like her old self again and that Alfred is fit as a fiddle. The same wish applies to you, Thisisme. Happy Thursday, dear friend!

You look wonderful, in amongst the leaves. I only got one tree's leaves raked and it snowed. Oh well, maybe they'll compost by spring. Ha
The book sounds delightful. Thanks for the info.
Hope all is well with you.

Thank you dear, Diane! What a nice surprise to see this morning. (It's after 8:00am Thursday here.) I, too, love your photos! You live in an enchanting looking area. I'll visit someday...and I truly hope that won't be just a wish! You look lovely, too, outdoors in nature's beauty. I think I've mentioned about a zillion times that autumn is my favorite season. Have a wonderful, blissful rest of the week, and thank you for mentioning me!

Lovely autumn photos my awesome friend. You do have a lot of leaves to clean up! I think you can take part in Thanksgiving. Cook up a turkey, lots of side dishes and be thankful for whatever. Start a Thisisme tradition! Great post and someday you'll be talking up my memoirs too! Someday!! Hugs XX

What lovely times and such a gorgeous picture! I would love to have you join us at our Thanksgiving table, which is a mixture of American Southern cooking and Mexican cooking. Much, much to be thankful for~

Hi Thisisme. I totally love your fall photos, especially with you raking leaves, lol! And, even with the fall colors, the sun peeks through your property and sets it aglow! You did have some perfect summer weather, and a bright autumn.

I am so thankful every day of the year, (well, I try to be anyway!) And, I know you are too-so, I think Thanksgiving should be everyday for everyone! But, I just don't want Turkey and dressing everyday, haha!

Some folks make a list with one item of thanks for every day in November. That's too hard for me to do. I just have to give thanks for everything on everyday, and, I can be specific about my thanks when it comes to mind!

I so enjoyed your post and your mention of Becky's book that looks to be a great one. I looked for you yesterday, and thought maybe you didn't show up on my reading list. But here you are, thank you!

Take care dear friend, don't rake too much! Will see you soon! ♥

Oh I enjoyed your moring blog here in Canada just now . We have had fall and leaves are on ground. And Thanksgiving over but most people like you . Cleaning up the leaves.

Oh that sure looks like a good book.

You mentioned to me that series.

Oh I hope we get to see it. You got us excited as when we seen last. We go. Oh they leave us holding that as the end. NO I yelled. No.

Tell me. I cannot wait.

Did you see them get married after he ran away from the first nutter.

We watch Corrie here and now we are cut down to half hour only.

They promised us after a year we get an hour to catch up with you guys. Booooooooooo hooooo they did not. Only a half hour.

Your pictures are beautiful lady.

Did you go walking in your pretty purple runners you got the other day?

I liked them as you have tiny feet. So the walkers looked for sure show and tell delight.

Don work too hard and get too tired raking my blog friend.

Get that book and a cuppa and enjoy that read.

I read all my books and they are back to the library.

I will shoot over to your blog friend and see what she has put up.

Talk later.

You have a lot of leaves to rake. Goodness. How will you rake all of those? My husband used a blowers to get the leaves into a pile. It really helps.

That is a beautiful blue sky. I hope it continues staying blue for a bit for you.

Yes, Thanksgiving is next week. I have a lot to do to get ready. I haven't cooked the big meal for quite a few years. Let's hope I remember how.

So many books, so little time said...

I hadn't heard of this book, thank you. What a lovely picture although it looks more autumn than winter,, I think the presence of snow screams winter and sure we will have some.
