Well, here we are again my dear bloggy friends, at the end of another year. Most of you know that I get very excited in the lead up to Christmas Day. The whole thing to me is still very magical, even at my advanced age! Of course, having Eli and Ruby with us now, make the whole experience even more exciting.
But I'm afraid that once Christmas is over, I usually go right down in the doldrums, and feel quite teary. It happens every year, but I still want the feeling to pass. Although when we were younger, we always used to go out on New Year's Eve, I'm afraid that it's never really meant very much to me, which I guess makes me a bit boring!
We had a lovely Christmas with all the family (Emma, Mark & Alfred arrived on Boxing Day) filled with love. Then we had little Ruby's fourth birthday on the 29th. Here are a few snapshots for you.
Here is Eleanor having fun in Peru! |
May I wish you all, wherever you may be, a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. I hope the year ahead will be filled with love and many blessings for you.

Hallo hallo hallo, dear Thisisme! I declare - you changed your header again - and it's another magnificent one with pictures of your lovely grandchildren and your vintage style radio. Nicely done, dear friend!
If you're calling yourself boring then you're not alone. At the stroke of midnight I'll be sipping a cup of hot chocolate and rearranging my sock drawer! :)
I am tickled silly to see these splendid images and smiling faces. It's so good to see Emma laughing after the difficult year she's gone through with the loss of Kelly and her back problems. I'm also delighted to see a pic of Eleanor having a good time in Peru. Ruby is growing into quite a young lady and I wish her a happy 4th birthday.
I was blessed to have your warm and wonderful friendship again this past year, dear Diane. The world needs more like you. Blessings, hugs and smooches to you and your whole family. May 2014 be kind to you all.
Happy new year, dear Thisisme!
I just love the header picture. You always have such a beautiful blog!! Just seeing the smiles on all of your family tells me how much love there is in your home. That just can't be bought!! It's completely understandable why you feel down after all the buildup of Christmas and I'm sure you're not alone. How you feel now is how I feel about Christmas. It just doesn't have meaning without my family around. However, it's onward and upward my most awesome friend! Here's to a fantastic 2014 for us both! Hugs and love XX
I wish you a wonderful healthy funny and happy 2014 and thank you for your friendship. It means a lot to me!
Such a lovely family you have! I'm think husby and I are part of the boring crowd as well. We NEVER go out on New Year's Eve. In prior years, we have gone up the street to have the New Year's Even dinner at a local eating place...usually about 5 p.m. and are home by 6 p.m. This year, we just got back from Alaska and both of us are sick. We went to the doctor today and he gave us anti-biotics ....hopefully, we'll be on the mend soon.
What a beautiful Christmas for you to have your family with you. Little Ruby's 4th birthday. They do grow up so quickly. Life becomes just a blink of the eye.
May 2014 hold all the happiness that you had in these photos. Love and peace to you and your family.
Dearest Diane;
Yes, I LOVE your new header as well, my dear friend♪ What a GORGEOUS Christmas pictures with all of your family get together; I especially love to see how your sweet Angeles growing wonderfully♡♡♡
Having a quiet new year with my husband without any guest p;) Wishing a Happy and Prosperous New Year from Japan to my dearest friend in England, xoxo Miyako*
Hello Diane,
I know what you mean when you talk about the new year. I don't find anything at all of value or specialty in New Year's Eve! Ultimately it's just another day and we have to get on with it :)
Wishing you a brilliant 2014!
Dear Diane,
I love these photos!! Hope this will be a fantastic year for you.
Your header picture looks great.
I have just started my long break from work and it feels just great. It has been a very hectic period going up towards the year end. Working in the finance operations of a company is very stressful but I still love it. Was working up until 7pm last night and by the time I got home I was so tired, that I nearly crashed on the sofa while watching the Hobbit. But today is a new day and a new year even, and I feel a little exited actually.
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Hugs,
Eva
This was the most beautiful way to ring in the New Year Thisisme! I know that now we have to put the pretty holiday stuff up...we are still waiting to have our sweet little grandson come for his Christmas-Grrrr!!! That's another story, and we are dealing!
I loved looking at your memories of the holidays, and those gorgeous daughters and grandchildren-they take the cutest photos! And, it was good to see your smiling hubby too!
So, I guess we'll dive head first into the New Year, and do what good we can, huh? Us ladies of a certain age can do all the good! See you later, hugs!♥
Hi Diane , You get excited about Christmas? Really would never of guessed ..:-) :-) Only kidding , I have a daughter in law like that too and grandaughter and Luke's partner and ex partner. We stayed in last night , as usual , would of loved to have done something totally different, be somewhere else ,, If you do feel down in the dumps, don't feel down for too long .. Hope this year is good to us all xoxo
Oh yesterday my friends son (age 10) asked do you believe in Santa , had to lie .. I think he still does but don't think my 10 year old grandson does ..
We have Amelia's first birthday coming up , yep one whole year has gone .. as we know. xx take care.
Your Christmas celebrations look wonderful! Why can't we have Christmas all through the year? My house is now empty and quiet. Elliot and I both felt it today, the silence. But we had each other and it was good. Thank you for hanging tough through the let down phase of the holidays. It's very rough for me too. Friendship helps so much!
Oh my! Then maybe it isn't just me that has the blues right after Christmas. This year was better! I think I'm a little more appreciative of my good health and excited about some successes during 2013. The photos are beautiful and the header looks so professional! I think you would be successful as a blog designer! Have a very happy 2014 my friend!
Always a bit of an anti=climax, such a build up then in 2 days all over. Except the Christmas story never really ends, the birth of the saviour, then the cross and our salvation secured and the everlasting gift of the Holy Spirit and Eternal Life. Happy, Blessed 2014 to you and your family
So fun seeing all Your family photos.Looks like wonderful times had by all.Wishing You and Your whole family many blessings throughout 2014.Thank You as always for Your friendship over so many hundreds of miles. Hugs-Denise
Your family photos are wonderful keepsakes and will be treasured in years to come. Your little Ruby makes my heart sing. I love the picture of her and Eli with her birthday cake. Happy new Year. Hope that storm bypasses you. Let us know that you are safe and sound.
I always called them the post Christmas blues. Luckily they don't last too long. At least we have lovely memories and photos to cheer us up. I hope 2014 is kind to you.
The thing that makes me want to cry right now is the weather! I love Christmas but I hate winter. It's freezing cold right now in the Midwest and all I can think about is that there are 72 days until spring! Don't discount your tears, dear friend, they always mean something, maybe it's how you connect with your spirit after the frenzy of the Christmas season. I wish you a happy and healthy new year!
Oh my I nearly missed this post and it is filled with so many beautiful and happy photos of your darling family! I agree with Tom it is so fantastic to see Emma with a big laughing smile on her face! I hope she is still improving and feeling well! Alison looks like a movie star in the picture with her Dad! As always Eleanor is just so beautiful and her joyous nature always shines through on her face! Ruby Violet and Eli always melt my heart! Those two are just so loving with each other it makes my very soul happy to witness!
I hope you are cheering up again my friend. You do have so much to be grateful and happy for! I hope your weather improves, I know I'm ready for the warmth to return to our Southern states! Hugs and best wishes for a wonderful new year to you and yours and special love from me to you! xoxox
I love your blogs. Your family and pictures. You are a beautiful lady inside and out.
I never feel depressed.
Maybe I am not normal.
I know many do. My Father in-law used to be the same. God love him at 80 he went home to the Lord.
Now he is singing in Gods choir.
I keep myself busy with art, reading.
I think your a reader right sweetie.
I am hooked on an author who writes
the Mennonites novels Little valley series.
They are like stories like House On the prairie.
See I never get all winded up on Christmas but I enjoy other peoples decorations.
New years I am not a party gal.
Hubby and I don't drink. Never was much into that. I guess because I never liked the taste back then or now. I guess you may think I am an old gal in the back wood times. In the woods back then. I think they drank didn't they. Ha-ha.
Maybe I am a bit like a Mennonite. In my ways. Not sure.
So anyhow. These books are tear jerks so I don't want you feeling even bluer. If you read them.
So dear.
It wont belong and Spring will be here.
As long as you write.
We will be here.
A friend.
Lovely, lovely photos. You all had a wonderful holiday. I'm glad you were together.
Dearest Diane,
I just stopped by that I wish you're no longer having bad weather, my friend in England.
My husband had a cold a while ago, but got better now, whew.
Love your new profile picture♡♡♡
Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Diane, the holidays are over. The calendar brings us back to where we were last year at this time...dealing with, slow, spotty and sometimes nonexistent internet The islands are great to escape winter but not good techno-wise. I'm just now seeing your New Years post! Blessings on you and yours as we continue on living to make a difference.
