Little Bloggy Friends! Well, how the devil are you?! It seems ages since I've written anything on my Blog. I thought, if I don't write something soon, I might never write anything ever again, so here I am - especially here to brighten up your day. LOL!!
We are getting well into January now and the days are very slowly starting to get just that little bit lighter. We have had so much rain over here since Christmas, with just the odd day of blue skies. On those days, I have taken the opportunity to get out for a walk and enjoy the fresh air.
It is hubby's 70th birthday in July, and I am trying to organize some surprises for him. We always have made the big O birthdays just that little bit special. On his 40th, I took him to Paris, on his 50th I whisked him to Venice and we went to a lovely hotel in Spain for his 60th.
For my 40th, hubby arranged for a white Rolls Royce to pick me up and take me to work. Then I had lunch with friends, and he arranged for what he said was a singing gypsy violinist to turn up at the lunch. Unfortunately, the gypsy violinist broke down on the way to the venue, and I ended up with a stripping black vicar instead. Enough said about that little episode really!! For my 50th, he arranged a meal in a lovely Elizabethan hotel near here, with all my family and friends, and we also went to Rome. For my 60th, I was taken to Prague, and watched a very special performance of Les Miserable.
You will probably realize why I just love those BIG birthdays!
Anyway, here we are coming up to his 70th, and I've got to come up with something. You might (or might not!) have realized by now that I do tend to get excited about things, whereas hubby, on the other hand, doesn't get excited at all. I still remember his 50th. We were out for the girls for a meal, and I gave him the Venice tickets in a card. He didn't say a word. The girls said "you can get excited now if you like, dad!". They are just like me, and it's any excuse to make something a little bit special.
Anyway, he did mention a Rhine Cruise some time ago, which was a miracle in itself, because he never wants to do holidays!! Bit of a bummer really, because I can't say I fancy that, but it's HIS 70th, so I must go along with it. We were based near the Rhine when he was stationed there in the Army over 30 years ago, and I loved all the little places along the Rhine. It's not that I have the problem with, but it's being with all these other people on a ship that I'm not so sure about!!
Also, the big Open Golf Championship is always held on his actual birthday, and I was thinking of booking that as a real surprise. Obviously, I would have to go along as well. I can't just send him off on his own!! Anyway, wish me luck peeps.
I think that's probably enough for you to cope with at the moment dear friends. After all, you don't want too much of a good thing! Perhaps now that I've written this first post after such a while, it will be easier for me to get going again. Take care, and enjoy your weekend wherever you may be.

Hey, welcome back! It sounds like you've had some pretty special things going on on those "0" birthdays! We don't do anything for each other's birthdays. Don is very adamant that he'd just disappear if he got wind of any kind of surprise party. LOL
Wow, can I come to visit you for my 60th? You guys really do do BIG for the 0's!! I think you need to pick something that you won't dislike even though it's his birthday. If that cruise will make you unhappy, don't do it because you won't be good company. I'm sure between you and the daughter's, you'll come up with a good one. Much hugs and love my most awesome friend!!
Wow, you two sure know how to celebrate the big 0 birthdays in style. Let us know what you come up with for your hubby's big 70.

Hallo, dear Thisisme! First of all, did you realize it's snowing down the right side of your blog? :) I put a long scratch on my screen when I attempted to clear it off with an ice scraper! (LOL)
Goodness gracious, dear friend! Aren't you the lucky one? Most women would envy you for all the globetrotting you have done over the years, visiting all those dream destinations the rest of us only we read about in romance novels. Shucks, when I turned 60, Mrs. Shady bought me a hot dog at a local flea market! :)
I always wondered what people were talking about when they discussed "The Big O." Now I know. :)
Have a fabulous Friday evening and a wonderful weekend, dear friend Thisisme!
Dear Diane, you do these big birthdays right. We on the other hand let them go gladly into the night. Maybe we are missing something. You know how to make memories and that is what is important my friend. best, olive
I will be looking forward to hearing more about the plans when they materialise. David and I used to do something similar, he was a July birthday as well. :)
So glad to see you here! I love that you celebrate the 0 birthdays in a big way. I like to do the same thing, too. I know you will make his 70th very special. Think about a trip to the old USA, maybe! We could have a blogging buddies meet up, as well!
Please promise to let me know if you come to Germany, I would love to meet you in person :)
Ahhh, dear friend! It is always wonderful to see a post from you on the old blog roll. I have been very lax as well but so busy.
I love all the ways you have celebrated everyone's 'O' birthdays. Tom cracked me up with his comments about wondering what the big 'O' was! Perhaps you can relocate that stripping nun for your hubby's special day, lol!
It all sounds wonderful and I too am looking forward to what will be your final celebration idea!
Love to you and yours...
I've been missing your blog posts Diane! My dad also finds it hard to get excited about anything, but I'm sure the golf trip ort he Rhine cruise would be great for your husband
Wow, those are some big birthday celebrations! My biggest one to date has been a trip to England from my parents for my 40th birthday. For my 50th, my hubby gave me a surprise party. Then for my 60th, my kids surprised me in our old hometown.
Have you been on my side of the pond???? We're only 4 hours from Washington, DC.
Hi Thisisme. Maybe a golf outing would be just the thing! It might be sunny and you could walk along, or just bask in it. Take some sightseeing photos, and just relax while hubby plays golf.
Nevertheless, you may come up with something totally different between now and July! So far your -0- birthdays sound like they've been 'over the top'! I remember when you went to Venice-what beautiful photos you came back with. Or...you could buy him a hot dog at the local flea market! haha!
Have a fun weekend, Thisisme, it was good to see you! ♥
Glad to see you are back! You have been missed a LOT by all of us! Good LUCK with the 70 party, I know it will be GREAT!!! Last year I had a party set for Jerry and on his cake I put "For 75 years of living and 25 years of putting up with me!!!" I REALLY FEEL I SURPRISED HIM FOR ONCE!!! It was a LOT of FUN for me.
Many seem to finding blogging more difficult these days, me included. Pleased you are back on track.
Thanks for your visits and encouragement and prayers.
Have a Blessed weekend.
Welcome back. I've been away from Blogland a bit myself. It just gets to busy sometimes.
I can't wait to see what you come up with for the big 7-0!

I am an absent blogger as well, and sometimes feel like I really could leave it, and it would be okay. But I am always delighted to read your posts. They cheer me up and help me to appreciate the good things in life. I understand your dilemma. With so many big things, how to proceed? If he doesn't get too excited, do you think you could get away with a simple card and a cake? Probably not...and I'm sure you will make it very special and he will feel loved and appreciated. I can't wait to hear what you decided to do!
You will meet many interesting characters on a cruise; some you will befriend and others you will write about.
