Keep Calm... it's Nearly Christmas!

If you can avoid all the crowds in the shops, there truly is something quite magical in the season of Advent and Christmas. I suppose I am blessed, because my two grandchildren are eight and six, and they live  just five minutes away.  This really is the very best age, and I feel very fortunate to be able to share in their excitement and to see the magic in their eyes. I went to see Ruby in her little school Nativity play on Thursday. What a treat that was. It's so funny when all the little ones are trooping onto the stage - you can see their eyes anxiously surveying the audience to see if they can spot mummies and daddies, or grandmas and grandads. Then, when they see them, their little eyes light up and they start waving furiously!!  Here are a couple of photos from 2013...

Although we are still allowed to take photos at the Nativity Plays, we are only allowed to share photos of our OWN child on Social Media.  I remember a couple of years ago, the Headmistress asked if anyone objected to photos being taken. One lone mum stood up and did object, so the rest of us weren't allowed to take any photos of our little ones that year. Such a shame, but they seem to have got round that.

The little ones have finished school now for the Christmas holiday, so I'm sure we will be visiting Father Christmas during this coming week. Ho! Ho! Ho! 🎅🏻🎄.

In December last year, I had a long weekend in Madrid to celebrate my eldest granddaughter's 18th birthday, as she is at University in that lovely City. Here is a photo of the Christmas tree in Plaza Mayor, the main Square.

And here is my lovely granddaughter ...

Here are a few of my favourite Christmas images from my Christmas Board on Pinterest. I hope you enjoy them.

I love these old Christmas images, they speak to me of a simpler time. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well and we will see you in the new year.

OMG another masterpiece by our awesome friend across the "pond". You truly outdid yourself this time sweetie as I was blown away by the wonderful pictures that make the excitement so real and so near. Although the tree at the end was so magnificient I was hoping for an image of your oldest grand daughter who you know I am very fond of. Think of me as we go into the coming week which will be very busy for me. On the 23rd my sister Linda will pick me up at like 4:30 AM and head to the Veterans Affairs medical center an hour away to have my left eye operated on to take away my blurry vision and give me 20/20 like they did on Nov. 16 to my right eye. Then we have to journey back on Christmas Eve to have it looked at one more time. What a joy it will be to go into 2017 with awesome vision in both eyes. What a gift that will be. Merry Christmas my sweet friend and to your whole family as well. With love.

Hello Diana. I agree with you that these images do bring back memories of a much simpler time. I really do feel that that is why all these vintage/retro things are so popular at the moment - trouble is, we were there the first time round! 😂😂. Happy Christmas to you and your family. Sending blessings your way.

Once again, Odie, I have to thank you for coming across and leaving such a kind comment. I always appreciate each and every one. I see that you do, indeed, have a busy week ahead. I will think of you and pray that the second eye op will be as successful as the first. I know just what a difference that one made to your life. I'm glad that you have your sister to make the journey to and from the Hospital each time. I wish you a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas my friend, and a healthy New Year 2017. Take care x

I also enjoyed the vintage Christmas images, twin! They bring back such a tender, precious time of innocence when life was so much more simple! But the excitement in the eyes of your precious grandchildren! Those were my favorites! Merry Christmas, my friend. I'll see you on Facebook during the holidays!

So,lovely to see you here today, Glenda (twin). I'm glad you enjoyed the photos today. I'm really trying to make the most of every moment with Eli and Ruby before they get much older! Yes, I'm sure we'll be lurking around Facebook over the holidays! 😊 Happy Christmas Glenda, to you and all the family. Sending blessings your way.

You did pick some very good vintage photos for your final Christmas post! I love the photos of the two little ones, and their fun Christmas photo. I guess some parents are leary of having their children posted on social media. Sometimes I have worried a bit about Scooter's picture, I've been careful not to mention his last name (but I guess that's not much help). The large Christmas tree is stunning. Is that one in Madrid? Eleanor is really grown up, she always looks happy-best wishes to her! I know you'll be happy to see her again.

Well, Thisisme...it's so good to have you blogging again. I'm glad to be back, even if it's just a couple of times a month. It's only 16° in Texas today-I don't know when it got this cold last. Brrrr!!! Well, I'll just have to fix some comfort food. Little Carly (my dog) is cuddled up in a warm chair.

Have a great day! Maybe I will see you again before Christmas! But Merry Christmas anyway! ♥

Hi Suzanne. Brrr! Sounds cold for you! I love little Carly. So cute! I'm glad you have her for company. I'm sure we will still be seeing each other on facebook over the holidays! Yes, that tree was in the main square in Madrid. It was pretty impressive! Yes, it's good that we've come back to blogging. I'll probably only post once a week or so, in the New Year. Take care and see you soon! Happy Christmas my Texan friend ❤

Wow, seeing the pictures of Ruby and Eli certainly reminded me of how long we've been blogging. They are at the perfect age this year to enjoy before they start with the "maybe" or "what if" about Father Christmas. So enjoy this week with them and have a fabulous and very Merry Christmas! Hugs and Love XX

Hello Bee Bee. Yes, Eli is already starting to say "that's not the real one" and Ruby that insists that it is! Bless. Yes, we've been blogging since 2010 - and they said it wouldn't last! 😂 I'll be thinking of you at Christmas, my awesome friend x❤
