A Glass Of Wine Here, A Glass of Wine There ....

It's the 16th August and I am still waiting for summer to arrive!! Yes, we have had the odd day of sunshine here and there, but it really has been just that.  On the sunny day that we do get, I get all excited and then, bam, it's back to normal the next day.

Anyway dear bloggies, I still live in hope.  So much so that, yesterday, I was pretty busy making another little seating area in the garden.  I rubbed down the old bit of wooden fence that was showing, and then rubbed down a very old little table and chairs set that looked decidedly sorry for themselves.  Then I re-painted everything  and dressed it up a bit, and voila! What do you think?

I've worked out that if I took a couple of bottles of wine out into the garden and drank a glass on every seat out there, I could be feeling pretty happy with the world! Hee Hee!

There you are then, short and sweet today!

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.Helen Keller.

It looks delightful, Diane! I am hugely impressed with all you accomplished yesterday. Again, I have to comment on the beautiful setting in which you live. How exceedingly lucky you are!

Ohhh, 'table for two', s'il vous plait?
Diane, you've created a very inviting spot. Your garden has so many rooms to wander in.
Now if only we could figure out how to have us all over for that glass...'cause Desiree is right you do live in a very lovely corner of the world!

Hugs~

It looks really great! We'll have to put your wine theory to the test ;)

Desiree - you're the first one up today my friend! I was pleased with it when I finished but, guess what, it's raining again today, so goodness knows when I am actually going to sit out there!! :(

Sush - Eeek, I didn't know you were so fluent in ze French mon ami!!! I know, wouldn't it be so much fun if we could all get together?!

Gawgus things - now that's a good idea!!!

It looks great Diane.

Well done on the painting!

I don't think that there is anything that beats a glass of wine outdoors, except that like you, here in Ireland we would be sitting in the rain!!
Well we can always hope for next year!!

Enjoy what is left of summer and I'm hoping that you will empty a couple of bottles while sunbathing in that lovely garden of yours!

Lovely, lovely! I adore your quotes at the end, as well. I do wish I could give you some of the endless summer we are having. I even listened to some Christimas music yesterday to try and remember what it felt like to not be in such heat.
Thank you for sharing!

I didn't know you last year at this time, Thisisme, so I need to ask: is this a typical English summer? I feel very sorry for you because I know how prolonged periods of dreary weather affect my mood. Your chairs are a lovely shade, the garden beautiful, and the horses grazing nearby complete these pictures of paradise. Happy day to you, dear friend!

That's a perfect little corner of your garden to drink wine in...yum yum, slurp slurp :)

Such an inviting little nook. Just viewing it gives me a peaceful feeling, but rain for days is dreadful. I need sunshine. Have a happy day.

What a sweet spot you've found! It's finally starting to cool off some here, so we may be able to sit outside again.

That looks like a beautiful spot to sit at and relax with your wine. I just can't get over the horses in the field behind it. How beautiful. You fixed yourself an awesome little spot! Love it.

What an amazing little spot. The colors just pop against all the greenery. It must be so soothing to go and sit there [wine or not - but yes, wine!]
I always so enjoy your garden pictures. I wish I could be there with you.
Hugs sweetheart

It just looks so inviting and such a relaxing spot. Everyone should have a spot to indulge in. THANKS FOR SHARING IT WITH US MY DEAR FRIEND.

rainbow (Momma Lyn) - one of my followers suggested to change my name to dustbow if we don't get any rain soon. Enjoy your rain, the other is worse.

You did a marvelous job on setting up that seating area and I would surely love to be sitting there sharing a bottle of fine wine with you hearing all about Devon. Wish I could send you some of our summer. Take care & I will catch up with you again soon.

I think you did a fantastic job and I would love to come and sit with you and drink some wine! I think I would appreciate your mild summer. It's been hell over here.

Great little nook for a glass of wine. Sure wish we could send some of our sunshine your way.

Raindrops and Daisies - Hi Fiona. Yes, as you say, there's always next year, but it can be a bit miserable, can't it?! I need some vitamin D!

Claudia - thank you. I see that you're off on your travels again!

Shelly - Listening to Christmas music to try to offset the heat. What a great idea! Wish I had that problem over here. Yesterday, I just had to put the heating on for a while, as it was so chilly. :(

Shady - yes Tom, I'm afraid this is a typical English (British) summer my friend. I really do feel in desperate need of some vitamin D. It makes such a difference to your whole lifestyle I think, when you can see blue skies and feel the warmth. I always think that's why the British people are so reserved - it's the flipping weather!! Thank you for your nice comments about the garden.

lyndylou - slurp, slurp indeed. Good to see you back today after your trip to London.

Linda - I need sunshine too!! Please send us some over. I'll be ever so grateful!!

GrammyGoodwill - I suppose that's the other side of the coin. Where you are, it's too hot to sit outside, and that can't be nice either.

Bouncin'Barb - I must admit, I thought it was pretty awesome of the horses to position themselves in that spot, just as I was taking the photo! LOL!

SkippyMom - thank you! I wish you could be here as well. We would have so much to chat about! Hee Hee!! Hugs my friend.

Bethe - I know you've said before that your summer isn't what it should be. It is so disappointing, isn't it? Perhaps we'll both have an Indian summer! Blessings.

rainbow - dustbow! I like it. Hee Hee! Do hope that the rain comes your way very soon.

Odie - thank you so much my friend. It would be lovely to actually be able to talk to you in person, I must admit! Oh, if only you could send us just a little smidgeon of your summer!!

Southhamsdarling said...

EmptyNester - yes, I really must think of you whenever I moan about our weather. That terrible heat must be really awful, and I do sympathize. Hopefully it will cool down for you soon. Lovely to see you here today!

Glenda - it is a little nook, isn't it?! I'm not being greedy - I only want just a little bit of your summer!

Chatty Crone - hi there my friend. It's a lovely quote, isn't it? And very true sometimes, I think. Take care.

I'll join you for a little wine in that beautiful setting. I think it all looks wonderful.

your garden is just so lovely and inviting.

Southhamsdarling said...

Teresa - how lovely it would be to share a bottle of wine with you! The garden is lovely, but takes a lot of looking after, and there's only us to do that! Take care my friend.

A lovely cosy sitting area. I hope you have more sunny days to sit out and enjoy it.

Orchid-my dear friend.Thank you for admiring what I did in the garden. The horses came by just at the right time! Glad that your Obon went well. That quote by Helen Keller is lovely, isn't it, and something that we should all try to remember!

Life101 - Hi Rick. Lovely to see you here today, and you and Jilda would be very welcome here at any time! Honey in your tea or coffee sounds good to me :)

Jilda - Hallo! How lovely that you have popped over to see me today. Thank you! You are right, enough wine and it seems that the sun is shining, even if it isn't!! Hee Hee!

Pat Mackenzie - Yes, hopefully we will have some more sunshine to come. It will probably be in the next two weeks, when I'm with my family in Paris!!!

Hi there....I love the little space you've carved out for yourself. The fence is precious and so are the chairs. And what a lovely view! I'm in Houston, TX and it's been extremely hot here this summer. We are breaking records of having over 30 days in a row of temps over 100 degrees! Whew!
PS: I like your idea about having wine...I'd love to come and join you for a glass, or two! :)

I will gladly ship you some summer over there! It is finally in the low 90's here and that is a good thing. That garden area is beautiful. Our garden is fading fast.

It looks very pretty, better than anything I could do!

You shoulda had a bottle of wine in each seat you did a great job - I wish I had a knack for that kinda thing =3

Loved reading a few of your posts, followed so I can come back for more!

Hi Diane,
I'm finally back home again - to the dull and grey.
I certainly love your new little garden spot - and can imagine you sitting there sipping your wine. Sounds lovely - and let's hope we will get some sun in this part of the world. I am like you - I never give up hoping.
I will do some editing of my photos from Egypt and put up on my blog. It was hot and sticky over there - but nice of course. But it's always nice to come back home!
Enjoy your day!

LindyLouMac in Italy - I've been away from the laptop for a day, and suddenly there are all these comments that I haven't acknowledged! Sorry about that. If only we had the weather for me to sit outside with a glass of wine :( Bit fed up with it all now really!

Alessandra - how lovely of you to pop over from Carol's blog. She is a little mynx, isn't she? I think we're up against each other in the mini skirt competition! Eeeek!! I often think it WOULD be wonderful if all us bloggy friends could get together and share a glass of wine. I can just imagine the laughter!!

Facing50.Blog - Hi there you little mynx! As you can see, Alessandra very kindly popped over to see me from your blog. Yes, I think we can write off this year's summer, don't you :( and double :( Still, at least YOU keep us all cheerful me leetle friend!

Donna B - thank you my friend! I would love you to join me for a glass of wine, believe me. Glad you liked the quotes today.

Susan S - Hi! How lovely it is to see you here today. I hope to see you again! I'm glad you liked the little nook that I created. Wow, I've heard about these high temperatures that a lot of my friends in America have been having. I don't think I could cope with that, although I could do with a little bit of your heat over here!!

Olive - Yes, PLEASE send a bit of your heat this way, although I'm glad that it's finally cooled just a little for you. I'm afraid that my garden is also fading, which is a shame. Thanks for popping by today.

Byakuya - that's a new name to me. Thank you so much for popping by, and I see that you have become my latest Follower. Thank you for that!

EvaMarie - welcome home my friend! There were some lovely photos of you on facebook - looking VERY brown, I might add. I'm very jealous!! Yes, it's always good to get back home again, and I hope you;re feeling revived and refreshed.
