Words That Are Music To My Ears....

"No need for you to cook this evening.  I'm going to do the meal, and I'll cook again tomorrow as well" - so said my dear son-in-law to me yesterday afternoon.  Those words really were music to my ears my dear friends!  I'm sure that I'm not the only one here who enjoys a meal so much more when it has been cooked by someone else!

It was so tasty as well.  Tiny roasted potatoes, with stuffed mushrooms and chicken breasts stuffed with goats cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.  Yum Yum!  All washed down with a bottle of champagne.  He also cleared everything away afterwards, so I am feeling like a very lucky lady indeed.  Then, just as the icing on the cake, he drove up to the local shop after the meal and brought back bars of chocolate.  Oh, I really have died and gone to heaven!!  Tomorrow he is going to cook fish.

Today my husband is having his second cataract removed.  He was so pleased with the result of having the first one done, so I'm sure it will be even better for him to actually be able to see clearly with both eyes.  What his reaction will be when he looks at me for the first time is another story - Eeeek! I hope he won't be too shocked to see his ageing wife stood in front of him!!

Today, a very good bloggy friend of mine, Bouncin'Barb is celebrating her first  anniversary of starting to write her blog.  Please do pop over and say hi, and help her to celebrate this day.  I call Barb my AWESOME bloggy friend.  She has certainly been going through a very tough time lately, yet she is always there for us, ready to support and encourage us, and to bring bloggy friends together through her blog.  I know that she would be so thrilled to see you today.  Barb is having a special party to celebrate, and we all love a party, don't we?!

Just look at that gorgeous smile!!

HAPPY  1ST YEAR BLOGGAVERSARY BB!

It is lovely to eat a meal someone else has cooked. How sweet of your son-in-law! My mom will be having her second eye surgery soon. What a blessing that operation is! I'm sure your hubby will love what he sees.

How I love to eat a meal I didn't have to cook but it is a rare thing for me even when we go to my parents for Sunday lunch I am the only daughter to help mum cook. I am a follower of Barb and have already been there and wished her best for her 1st anniversary.

Belle - I am so fortunate with both my son in laws, but this one is a real treasure! Good luck to your mum when she has her eye surgery. Hope all goes well with it.

Bethe - awesome is the word for him!! I think it must be wonderful to have someone who doesn't mind getting meals.

Dizzy - I so agree. It can be such a chore thinking of what to get for an evening meal, and I've been doing that for about 45 years now!

Jo-Anne - having a meal cooked for me has never happened very often with me either, unless I am staying with my family in France and then I am really spoilt, as I don't have to do anything!

Duncan - hallo my friend from Malaysia! I bet you do the cooking sometimes for that lovely wife of yours!!

Orchid - I'm a very lucky lady, aren't I?! Hope that all is well in your little corner of the world. Hugs.

lyndylou - oh, it IS bliss, isn't it?! I think most women would probably feel the same. Hope your week has gone okay with Holly & Jack.

Raindrops and Daisies - hallo! If I ever win the lottery, I shall hire myself a personal chef, so that I will never have to prepare a meal again. Hee hee!!

Happy bloggaversary to BB! It's sweet of you to acknowledge her, Thisisme. I'm glad your husband's getting further correction for his vision. I'm sure that it didn't take an operation for him to clearly see the beautiful person that you are. Your son-in-law must be a fantastic cook. What's really impressive is that he followed through by clearing the table, something few men are willing to do even when the woman makes the meal. He's a keeper!

What a wonderful son in law - it all sounds so yummy and I have to agree that it DOES taste better when someone else cooks. And champagne too! Luscious. :)

Good luck to your husband and the surgery. It is such a gift to have done and be able to see well.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your fish!

Look out, your husband might "see" you looking better than ever and be chasing you all around the room. That's my guess!! Isn't that sweet of your S-I-L? Rich cooked dinner for me every single night. Boy do I miss that. And I want to thank you for putting my big day on your blog. You really are one of a kind. Just an awesome lady in my book. Thanks and HUGS!!!!!

Shelley - It will be a good thing for hubby to get this eye op out of the way. He will be in pain for a couple of days, but it will be so worth it for him. The meal WAS really tasty!

Shady - Hi there dear friend. My son-in-law is, indeed, a Keeper, and I am very fortunate. Mind, he's pretty lucky to have me as a M-in-Law too!! LOL!! Have a super weekend Tom.

SkippyMom - yes, I'm looking forward to the fish this evening!! Hope you have a great weekend at that lovely house.

Linda - your comment says it all! Blessings indeed.

Odie - I must admit that it's rather lovely to receive TLC. I could really get used to it! You do a lot of cooking of course, so Linda is a very lucky lady! Likewise, I do hope that BB has a lovely day today - she so deserves it.

Anne in Oxfordshire - no, I don't think he will be smiling. Gosh, fancy your son being a top chef in the Air Force. How wonderful. It must be great when he cooks the meal for you :)

Auntie - we are both blessed with our son-in-laws then! :) Thank you for the good wishes for hubby.

Bouncin'Barb - hi there BB on your special day! It was my pleasure to give it a mention on my Blog. Of course, Rich was a Chef, wasn't he?! Gosh, I can imagine that you would really miss him cooking for you. Hope you're enjoying your special day. You've had some awesome comments on your post!

Yes, it's wonderful to have someone else cook for you. I lost my son in law three years ago, who actually was a cook and had a restaurant. He was riding his bike at the beach and a woman, who was on the cell phone, didn't see him and hit him, he was brain dead. We loved him like a son. Our daughter now is a young widow but continues with the restaurant at the beach. Manhattan Beach in CA. He would drive over here especially just to bring us his delicious food.

Now that's the kind of SIL I would encourage to visit often! What a treasure! If your hubby sees what we see, he'll still be wondering how he got to be so lucky all these years later! Hope his op is as seamless as the first time round. I am off to say hi to Barb now!

Teresa said...

that was a very sweet thing your SIL did for you all! our SIL cooked for us last night, too. We had tacos. they were very good.

i agree - barb is a great bloggy friend. i was blessed to find her, you, and a host of other bloggy friends.

I am not surprised someone as lovely as you draws into her sphere a caring son-in-law. Here's to an easy-peasey procedure for your husband and a speedy recovery...the sooner he recovers the sooner he is reminded of the vision you are to all of us. Inside and Out!

Hugs~

romance-of-roses - I am so very sorry that you lost your lovely son-in-law in such a tragic way. How awful for you and your poor daughter. I can imagine how you must miss him dearly. I can only hope that your faith helped you through.

Desiree - how lovely to see you here today. I know you have been very busy helping out Linda with Noodles. She said that you were doing so well with him! Yes, I've told my daughter and granddaughter, that my son-in-law is staying here tomorrow, when they return to France!

Teresa - hi there. I do hope that things are progressing okay after the op. How lovely that you have such a good son-in-law as well. I remember from previous posts how he has helped you and Ron out in the past. It really is such a blessing.

Sush - thank you so much for your sweet comment. Hubby can see so much better already this morning - I am so pleased for him.

Becca - thank you for your good wishes for hubby. I wished you had come over and spoken to me at the party! I wouldn't have known it was you of course, because no=one actually knows what you look like! :(

Chatty - it really is such a treat to have a meal all prepared for you. All I had to do was to sit down and eat, and drink my champagne! Had another delicious meal last evening. I tell you, I could get used to this!!!

Claudia - as you are such a good blogging friend as well - always taking the trouble to pop over and leave a comment. I do appreciate that.

Hello, my friend! I've been missing your blog somehow, it's not coming in on my blog feed on my dashboard. I'm glad to be catching up on your last few posts. Your son-in-law sounds like a keeper. I would fall over in a faint if one of my wonderful SIL's cooked a meal. They're talented, but not in the kitchen. I'm such a lucky gal though. My hubby loves to cook.

Southhamsdarling said...

Claudia - thank you. I am one very lucky lady, and I really do know how lucky I am!!

Glenda - hi there! It's really annoying when that happens, isn't it, when one of your friends' posts don't come up on your blog roll. It has happened to me quite a lot. Hope it gets sorted for you! Sometimes you have to unfollow, and then go in and follow again! Yes, I am so blessed with my two son in laws. They really are the best.
